    The Succubus

A different, unique and rewarding character build: The Succubus. The Succubus tears her enemies apart by letting them do the work for her. With her seductiveness, man fall for her charms and do her bidding. Those who have strong minds know how to resist her temptations, but the Succubus does not only have mind tricks up her sleeve...

    "So beautiful, yet so deadly..."

Hi! This is my first guide on this website, its an honor to actually make one and enjoy reading others too!

    Play-style:

The Succubus uses her seduction and mind tricks (Illusion) in order to demolish her enemies. Going alone against a fortress guarded by Bandits? Have no fear as your mind tricks will simply make them kill each other. Nothing is more easier when 10 enemies, have become 3. But that doesn't stop there, the remaining might be the toughest of them, the Chiefs, or other higher leveled enemies, but do not fret, for the Succubus can also call upon aid from other Demons (Conjuration), leveling the battlefield from a 1v3 to a 3v3. She also utilizes her black magic (Destruction) where she will freeze or burn her enemies to death. Though this is only on the battlefield... Note that she is also like a typical Succubus, having stealth (Sneak) and going in to people's bedrooms at night and perhaps killing them or feeding of them for their energy.

With this play style, there is always a trick for every situation you will encounter...

"Not even those with strong will can resist becoming mindless barbaric creatures..."

    Story:

The Succubus is a evil lady/demon who has come to Skyrim in order to feed on the mortals and to bring havoc. She will do anything in her power to get her needs, and to any extent.

"Evil has come unto these lands, not for a goal, but for leisure..."

    Primary Skills:

    http://skyrimcalculator.com/#110264

Illusion: Is a must have. Using a variety of spells to weaken your enemies, or even make them turn against their own. This is your primary skill and will be your main offensive power.

Conjuration:A good skill to have when especially outnumbered. This allows the Succubus to summon even more allies to fight for her cause.

Destruction: Is definitely a must have. This is her main source of reliable damage. Also used to destroy her enemies with projectiles, channeling spells, even cloaks.

Sneak: Another good skill to have, as its useful for sneaking around and killing enemies silently with your dagger (alone) or for sneaking around and summoning things outside.

"The Succubus's seduction is the ultimate mind control..."

    Secondary Skills:

Restoration: Useful for healing yourself when in need. Also provides magicka regeneration which is very useful, and its free too! But this skill just doesn't provide healing and magicka regen alone... The deadly perk of 'Necromage' is what stands out.

Alteration: Can be used for mage armor, but generally just used for the Magic Resistance.

One handed: Used to stab enemies to death, or kill them in their sleep. Basically a last resort skill if your out of magicka.

"Those who resist the Succubus will experience a world of pain..."

    Other skills:

Enchanting: Used to create deadly weapons and armor.

Alchemy: Used to create potions to aid with enchanting.

Smithing: Can be used to create armor if having to cast oakflesh before engaging every battle is a hassle.

Light/Heavy: Can be used if wanted, though generally you won't have enough perks to get these, and can easily achieve 80% Armor Rating through enchanting/alchemy/smithing loop.

Speech:Very useful for immersion, does help get better sales, especially with male merchants due to the fact they will give you that little discount because your character is so seductive.

NOTE: If you don't want to min/max or use the enchanting/alchemy/smithing loop to create godlike items, then don't. For my character I only used them to create any armor to get to 80% Armor Rating (567) but not with any weapons.

"Fragile and innocent she may look... But in the end its all a trick..."

    Race:

The race can be up to your choice but here is my opinion on race choices:

    Best race:

Breton: By far the best race for making characters in Skyrim due to its 25% Magic Resist passive and the 50% Magicka Resist racial power. One of the greater races in Skyrim along with the Orcs.

"Not even the strongest minds can break down the mental strength of a Succubus..."

    Other choices:

Dunmer (Dark Elves): A good choice due to their looks, as they do somehow look demonic. Also they have 50% fire resistance which fits the theme of being demonic. They do have they their racial ability, but loses its usefulness after being a higher level (20+) as the damage isn't just enough. Not a bad choice and is good for immersion.

"There is that evil burn that resides in them..."

Imperial: Another fine choice, with decent starting skills making leveling easier at the start. Starting skills don't really mean that much in Skyrim as all races can eventually achieve all the skills to 100 anyway. They do have that useful power to calm enemies, though you probably want them to kill each other and not become all nice... Though useful in situations where cornered.

"They may look like any ordinary stranger, but there is something different..."

High Elf: Another fine choice, they do have that +50 Magicka start which saves you 5 levels of putting stats into magicka, that would give you another 50 Health to put it in. Their racial ability also lets them spam spells, very useful for bosses.

"They can easily cause destruction so easily..."

Nord: Another fine choice, they do have 50% Frost Resistance, but you can easily achieve that by being Vampire. Their racial ability of causing enemies to flee is again, another fine choice. The Nord in my opinion is a far more viable choice than the Imperial due to having a better passive (Frost Resist > 5 extra gold from chests) with their racial abilities being similar.

"They make look like a daughter of Skyrim, but there is something different..."

    Bad choices:

You can still choose these if you want, but the way I picture a Succubus does not really fit in well with these races.

Argonian: I have nothing against lizard men, but its just awkward to see a half naked Argonian that manages to seduce Nords...

"Seduction seems to be of the mind, and not the physical appearance..."

Orc: Again they do have their beauty in their own ways, but they just seem like a race that just kills, and never negotiates.

    "Same as previous quote..."

Khajiit: Again, awkward to see a half naked cat person even seducing Nords.

    "Same as previous quote..."

Redguard: Can be a good choice, they do look kind of 'demonic' but their useless resist to poison can be achieved by becoming a Vampire. Their Adrenaline Rush is decent, but useless for a magic-using class like the Succubus.

"They are more energetic than most of their kind..."

Bosmer: They look alright, but they have no good racial abilities, except their resist to disease which again, can be obtained by becoming a Vampire. Their command animal can be useful to an extent, but usually Succubus seduce men, not animals.

"It seems that even Animals are able to be seduced..."

    Stone:

Lord stone: Gives defense to both physical and magical attacks. A general and best choice with the stones.

Mage stone: Makes leveling faster. You should get this at the start to get a kick start in leveling up. Later you should switch when necessary.

Atronach stone: Can be useful, especially since the magicka regen loss isn't that noticable and 50 extra magicka helps. Though can be a drawback using Necromage as it is said that the '50% resist magicka' also amplifies on yourself, making sneaking more difficult (Only when using Shadow Warrior) so watch out for that.

"A choice that fits any situation as needed..."

    Vampire Necromage:

To be undead or not to be? This is a question asked alot. Now you may have heard that becoming a Vampire can be a hassle. And its bonuses don't even give much, I mean, you need to be stage 4 to be strong, but that means everyone will want to kill you. Though there are good things that given, you will be able to sneak better, that means you could probably use armor that weighs more and not be detected still, but the even better bonus is the 25% better illusion spells, making you able to fear even that high leveled Bandit Chief for example. Don't forget that getting the Necromage perk in Restoration also gives you higher bonuses on effects, even yourself, so effects like Fortify skills become even better! The duration of spells also becomes 50% longer, so expect powers that last like 60 seconds become 90!

The 'feeding' is also good for role playing as you can 'drain' the energy from your targets!

"We cannot win this war now that they have their new allies... Vampires..."

    Health-Magicka-Stamina:

This is a question that is usually asked in character builds and usually some good guides don't provide how you should spend points into Health, Magicka or Stamina. Luckily this guide has this!

Now there can be a few ways you can build your stats but the one thing that must be followed is:

Do not spend any points into stamina*

Why you may ask? Well you won't be using power attacks as you will only spam-slash your enemies, and you shouldn't even use power attacks anyway, you should hit your enemies with your dagger until you regain magicka then just use your spells again. Now unless you want that extra carry weight, by all means do so, but do not exceed more than 150 stamina as anything above that is a waste. You can always use your follower as a pack mule...

Now for the Magicka and Health ratio.

If you are min-maxing, then you would probably want no more than 200-250 depending on the spells you cast, or how fast you can level enchanting and alchemy to the point that your gear will give you free spells. The rest can then be put into health.

Though for those playing honestly, I would recommend around 300-400 Magicka, depending on your needs, then pour the rest into Health. This would make it that your gear would have some sort of school magicka cost, with mainly resistances to elements.

Though if you are still unsure, then by all means, do a 2:1 ratio of Magicka to Health, and see how that goes. If you manage to still have a lot of mana whilst casting spells, you could consider putting some into Health until you start running into mana problems.

But again, there are various items in-game, especially ones obtained from the College of Winterhold that will give you Magicka, such as the Arch-Mage's circlet, giving you +70 Magicka when worn, and even an amulet that gives around +30 Magicka if I recall correctly.

"They do not have much for themselves, for they rely on others to replenish their needs..."

    Essential Abilities:

There are many abilities that can be helpful, but these are what are needed for a Succubus:

Agent of Dibellia: You do more combat damage to the opposite sex. This is perfect for immersion, and gives the feel of your character being a Succubus. Think of her seductiveness as an invisible effect in which male enemies do not want to hurt her due to their lustful thoughts. Although it only applies for melee damage, it does feel good, sort of a 'morality boost' when you assume that you do more damage to males! -This is a quest reward from The Heart of Dibellia

Agent of Mara: 15% Magicka Resist. Well now isn't that just nifty? This gives you 40% Magicka Resist if your character is also a Breton, for free! This will allow your Succubus to become more resistant to Magic, which is the only threat along with ranged attacks (assuming you stay out of close range of enemies). Free resistance never hurts and only makes your character stronger! -This is a quest reward from The Book of Love

Champion of the Night: Illusion spells are 25% more powerful. Real. Seriously, real. Now if you happen to be a vicious Vampire, expect this ability to enable you to Fear that Bandit Chief, or even Calm that Frost Troll. Your spells will also have better effect, and the duration will be longer too! The good news doesn't just end here though! If you also take Necromage this 25% bonus becomes even more stronger! Due to the game classifying you as undead, abilities on you will be even stronger! A must have for a Succubus! -This is obtained by becoming a Vampire

Highborn: Now this is only available if you started off as Altmer (High elf). +50 Magicka is very good and allows you to put 5 points into health, giving you more survivability!

Resist Disease: Your Vampiric blood gives you 100% resistance to disease. Not that diseases ever affect your character in such a major way, but being able to resist that occasional Rock-joint or even that annoying Rattles is definately a good bonus. Wolves and Skeevers will no longer annoy you with their pesky diseases! -This is obtained by becoming a Vampire

Resist Fire: Your Dunmer blood gives you 50% resistance to Fire. Now this is useful when becoming a fire as the effect of that negative fire resistance cancels out with this, meaning you essentially get free Frost Resistance, and you can even keep 25% resistance to fire assuming you stay at stage 1 Vampirism. -This is obtained by starting off as a Dark Elf

Resist Magic: Your Breton blood gives you 25% magic resist. Even more useful as this gives you a 25% to all three elements! This is part of the reason why Breton is the best race in the game (by opinion). -This is obtained by starting off as a Breton

Resist Poison: Your Vampiric blood gives you 100% resistance to poison. Those occasional annoying poisons from certains beasts and Falmer can really put a dent in you. But by being a vampire, this will negate all that, and that becomes another less thing you have to worry about! -This is obtained by becoming a Vampire

Sailor's Repose: Healing spells cure 10% more. Very useful ability to have, not only does it help you heal more, but this is also a reward from a quest! That means that any race can obtain this! A must have! -This is obtained by completing Frostflow Lighthouse

"These are the things that we must be aware when fighting against these demons..."

    Perks: (Level 81 build)

    http://skyrimcalculator.com/#110264

    Advantages:

+Can reach max armor through min/maxing

+The full potential of the Succubus

    Disadvantages:

-Can take a while to achieve high level

    Illusion:

    Everything

    Conjuration:

Novice Conjuration -> Apprentice Conjuration -> Adept Conjuration -> Expert Conjuration -> Master Conjuration

Those are a must have, the skills shown as above. But now you must make a choice of the following two paths:

Dark Summoner: Summoning Atronachs and eventually, Dremora Lords:

Summoner 1/2 -> Atromancy -> Elemental Potency -> Twin Souls

Necromancer: Raising the dead for your own cause:

Summoner 1/2 - Necromancy -> Dark Souls -> Twin Souls

The Summoner perk is useful to have as it allows you to summon things further without getting close and taking a beating.

    Destruction:

Novice Destruction -> Apprentice Destruction -> Adept Destruction -> Expert Destruction -> Master Destruction

Now this isn't just it. The Succubus is a very unique character, not your typical mage. Now for the remaining perks of this school of magic, you can decide to pick an element of your choice. If the Succubus were able to use all 3 elements, there would be no challenge and it would be just a typical mage. Now take your pick:

Fire: A good element to pick, burn your enemies away with fire! Also fits the theme of being a Succubus and being demonic. It is good when you burn enemies that they start running away in fear! Though it would be kind of ironic that the fact that if your a Vampire, your also weak to fire. Finding enemies resistant to fire is also uncommon! Pick this if you want to be a normal Succubus.

Augmented Flames 1/2 -> Augmented Flames 2/2 -> Intense Flames

Frost: A decent element to pick, this once is what I chose in my opinion as it is much more cooler to freeze your enemies! Not only do you get a resistance to Frost becoming a Vampire, it also fits the theme of being a Volkihar Vampire (search it up). Also you can deplete enemies from their stamina, making them less likely to kill you at such a close range. Though the only bad thing is that most enemies in Skyrim are resistant to frost... Pick this if you want to have a challenge!

Augmented Frost 1/2 -> Augmented Frost 2/2 -> Deep Freeze

Shock: A good element, though it does have nothing to do with being a Succubus. Very powerful and not many enemies have resistances against Shock. Choose this if you want to play the Succubus the easy way!

    Augmented Shock 1/2 -> Augmented Shock 2/2 -> Disintegrate

    Sneak:

1 point into everything, 2 into stealth: Stealth 2/5

    Restoration:

Novice Restoration -> Apprentice Restoration - Restoration Dual Casting - Recovery 1/2 -> Recovery 2/2 -> Avoid Death - Respite - Regeneration -> Necromage (Only if Vampire)

You wouldn't really need the higher level spells as these just heal fine enough, considering you will spend a lot more points into Magicka.

    Alteration:

Novice Alteration -> Apprentice Alteration -> Magic Resistance 3/3

These perks are just used to get that 30% Magic Resistance.

    One Handed: (Optional)

If you are just worried about damage then get:

    Armsman 5/5

If you want to do some power attacks:

Armsman 2/5 -> Fighting Stance -> Savage Strike -> Critical Charge

If you want to spend the perks else where and have not much use of one handed:

Armsman 1/5 + 4 Perks anywhere else you like

    Enchanting:

Enchanting 5/5 -> Insightful Enchanter -> Corpus Enchanter -> Extra Effect

Self explanatory as these are the perks required to achieve the 80% AR and get decent enchantments on your armor.

    Alchemy:

    Alchemist 5/5 -> Physician -> Benefactor

Self explanatory as these are required to min-max armor to get 80% AR and more resistances and health/mana, etc...

    Smithing: (Optional)

The heavy path to Daedric (evil):

Steel Smithing -> Arcane Blacksmith -> Dwarven Smithing -> Orcish Smithing -> Ebony Smithing -> Daedric Smithing

    The light path to Dragonbone:

Steel Smithing -> Arcane Blacksmith -> Elven Smithing -> Advanced Armors -> Glass smithing -> Dragon Smithing

*Now again, this is optional, take as many perks as you like and allocate them else where as needed.*

    Speech: (Optional)

    Haggling -> Allure

*This is optional if wanted, but for the sake of immersion and role-playing then this is needed as it gives the impression that you get better services due to your charms

NOTE: If you ever happen to have extra perks, allocate them to other skills as needed.

"There are many variations of Succubus... Our tactics will need to adapt to each one..."

    Perks: (Level 50 build)

    http://skyrimcalculator.com/#110291

    Advantages:

    +Easier to achieve

+Maintains the offensive power of the level 81 build

    Disadvantages:

-Utility skills (out of combat) are not as strong

-Must cast dragonhide every you engage in battle for armor

    Illusion:

Basically the same as the level 81 build.

    Everything

Illusion is our main skill here, you would need to get everything in this.

    Conjuration:

Basically the same as the level 81 build.

Basically the same as the level 81 build except you will not get Master Destruction. Master Spells don't have much use as your mainly using Fire or Frost as your main element.

    Augmented Shock 1/2 -> Augmented Shock 2/2 -> Disintegrate

    Sneak:

    Stealth 1/5 -> Backstab -> Deadly Aim -> Assassin's Blade

Although you may not be able to have those extra helpful perks such as Shadow Warrior or Light Foot, you will still be able to retain your ability to kill people, ninja style. This isn't really a draw back as the level 50 build does not wear armor, but uses spells for defense, no there is no need for perks like Muffle anyway.

    Restoration:

Novice Restoration -> Apprentice Restoration - Recovery 1/2 -> Recovery 2/2 - Regeneration -> Necromage (Only if Vampire)

Your heals are a little more limited and you won't be able to dual cast, but none the less you should be avoiding direct combat and letting your minions do the work along with your illusion spells. This will offer enough healing that will be just enough to beat through bosses, along with potions and food bought from stores.

    Alteration:

Novice Alteration -> Apprentice Alteration -> Magic Resistance 3/3 - Adept Alteration -> Expert Alteration -> Master Alteration

Now unlike the level 81 version, you will be maxing more in this school because your lack of Smithing skill which makes armor. You will be using Dragonhide as your skill to give you defense, as it gives you 80% Armor Rating easily. Though the only bad thing is that it lasts like 30 seconds, your Necromage perk should increase that duration if you are a Vampire.

    Speech: (Optional)

    Haggling -> Allure

*This is optional if wanted, but for the sake of immersion and role-playing then this is needed as it gives the impression that you get better services due to your charms.

"This is their lesser variation... Though they are still as powerful..."

    How to use:

    Vs Camps

Attempt to use a single target spell from illusion that will cause the enemies to kill each other. If that doesn't work, charge in with atronachs/dremora lords and kill using destruction. When surrounded or many within your proximity, attempt to use master spell Mayhem. Kill the remainders by using magic/dagger and keep atronachs/dremora lords summoned at all times.

    Vs Animals

Attempt to calm them and ready out the field, whether placing runes, summoning atronachs/dremora lords, or regaining health/mana. Then attack with magic. Remember to calm them if you need to re formulate the battle field.

    Vs Sleeping Targets

    Sneak by them and stab

    Vs Dungeons

Attempt to sneak and take them out one at a time. If attention is drawn, summon atronachs/dremora lords and treat it as if you were outside vs camps.

    Vs Vigilant of Stendarr

Do not attempt to seduce as they have been trained to resist. They will easily cast their holy potion and will use powers of the light to burn you. Your best way is to just keep away from them... We have one of our own infiltrating their kind and poisoning their holy potions... The time of the bravery from their potions will be over... They will be drinking to their deaths...

"This is what I managed to extract from one of their books..."

I hope you enjoyed this guide! Please do comment on suggestions and your thoughts, even screenshots!

"They have found me... I will drink the potion... Oh no its poisoned... Noooooooooo!"

Dude this build is amazing, I'll definetly be using it in my next playthrough

  • April 9, 2012

Thanks for the comment! And you were first too!

  • April 9, 2012

This build looks fantastic, I don't even like using magic yet with this build I might like it

  • April 10, 2012

    Thanks!

Well magic is really simple in this one:

Cast illusion spells to make enemies kill each other + Spam spells at enemy = Win :D

  • April 10, 2012

WTF! This build is SCREAMING out for the agent of dibella bonus!! (10% bonus damage vs opposite sex)

This is almost set for hall of fame status but requires a more detailed perk walkthrough to qualify, perhaps check out the hall of fame page to see what needs to be done...

I was thinking about testing the vampirism/necromage combo with 80% spell absorbtion, it should present some interesting stasis battles when fighting mages as you will be able to duel cast drain health while absorbing vast amounts of magicka allowing you to kill and heal at the same time. You would have to make a switch in conjuration from atronachs to undead/thralls if you wanted to try this however as atronachs are sucked up by spell absorbtion, but i think that enslaving a pair of mindless thralls suits a succubus perfectly...

Very good build and great detail!

    cool

OMG, I can't believe I was not even thinking about that! Anyways thanks for the constructive criticism, I will update this! I managed to forget about some key elements and you made me remember :)
