    Brothers in Dwemer

Why this build came to be:
The Brothers in Dwemer started off as a concept build using Perkus Maximus.  It ended up being a really fun build that developed organically.

    Lore:
This is the story of two life long friends, who with hard work and detemination have become the heroes of Skyrim.

    Suggest Path for Development:

    Intro:
Head to Markarth, read the Aetherium Wars, then head on to Whiterun to learn smithing from a Nord.
    Expedition:
Start Lost to the Ages, and any other Dwemer quests you find.
    Adventure:
    Main Quest line.

Story Path: (Feel free to skip this unless you want to read it)
(This was my path in my play through the game and seems to be logical and organic to me, but your road to becoming a hero is your own.)
This story begins in Rorikstead, with two young men who were fixated on the magnificent Dwemer technology of nearby Markarth.  Both are interested in adventuring in these ancient ruins and decide to make a trip to Markarth to sneak into the Museum.  While there you discover a book called the Aetherium Wars, which rather than satisfying your curiosity triggers a life long mission.

Realizing you need to have protection available for your friend and you.  You as the older one choose to be responsible and make sure that Erik and you have the equipment you need & travel to Whiterun where you plan on apprenticing to a smith.  Getting distracted you find a burned out cart and are drawn to this mine with plenty of ore to learn your craft. While your doing this Erik learns to be a sword & board warrior so you both can survive the dangers of these ancient cities, you finally return to Rorikstead and are able to bargain with the Erik's father for permission to go on your first excavation together.

Together you discover and ancient item of power and choose to use this power to free (or unify) Skyrim and bring peace to the land once more, if you get rich along the way and earn your way into Sovngarde, so be it. Eventually your character learns to make magical equipment that will self charge, before choosing to use it against the Vampire menace to protect their child hood home. After that they head on home to visit Erik's father, where they hear that a dragon destroyed Helgen.  Now they journey out choosing to defend Skyrim and all of Tamriel from the threat.  They begin their journey to slay the world eater but are sidetracked by an attempted assassination. Eventually they deal with the cult, and then Alduin.
Eventually having freed Skyrim from multiple threats, they return to their first love and find an ancient portal that takes them directly to Falskaar. Where their journey continues as the Traveler.

    Requirements
    Race: Nord
Start Point: Childhood Friends with Erik, the Slayer.
    Required Mods:
Alternate Start “Live Another Life”: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9557/?
    Perkus Maximus: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59849/?

    Useful Mods:
    Windstad Mine: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/57879/?
    Falskaar: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37994/?

Stones: Warrior (Till Smithing is 35 or so) then Steed Stone (usually just after beginning your journey back to Rorikstead.)

    Role-playing Rules
Rules: Only use Dwarven Made items except for jewelry, No magical spells ever..., All soul stones are bought full or found in Ruins, thankfully the automatons carry plenty.

Note: Always be protective of Erik and walk in first taking the brunt as the traps of the Dwemer are deadly to someone as brash as him.

    Gear
Gear: Dwarven Warhammer, Dwarven Halberd, or Eastern Dwemer Bastard Sword, Ring, Aetherium Staff, Amulet of Talos or Amulet of Zenithar (depending on who you support), 2 Full Sets of Dwarven Armor, Dwarven Shield and an Eastern Dwemer Long Sword for Erik. (All Reforged for maximum bonuses)

    Stats
Attribute Spread: 0 to Magicka, 4 to HP, 1 to Stamina

Mastery: Enchanting Focus: This will provide a nice bonus for you during the late game, technically you don't need any of these as none of your skills really require these abilities.

    Skill Focus: ASAP Stuff:
Smithing to 35 asap (Steel & Dwarven)
Heavy Weaponry: Weapon type perks IE Blunt, Bladed, Piercing (For Fun & Survival)
Heavy Armor: Deflective Cage, Secure Shell
Speech: Up the Merchant path (left side), those Eastern Dwemer Weapons are worth a ton.

    Delayed Stuff
Enchanting: Split Enchant, Soul Siphon x2, Channeler (after Lost to the Ages)
Ranged Weaponry (when you start Dawn Guard): Crossbow technology
Speech: Shouting path IE right side (after learning you are the Dragon Born)

Quests: Winstad Mine: Makes sense as a training montage for your character and smithing. This also makes a lot of sense if you tell Erik to wait in Rorikstead.
Lost to the Ages: Return to grab Erik, this is the real beginning of the builds play.
    U. Deeps: More Dwemer dungeons and adventuring...
Dawn Guard: Side with the Dawn Guard and do the cross bow quests as these are Dwemer tech Main Quest: Up to being attacked by the Cultists usually happens to me in Ivarstead...
DB DLC: Establish yourself as the DB, technically you will do Mzund first.
Main Quest: Head back and finish Alduin and all of his brethren off, except for Parthanax.

Civil War: Provide your support to the side of your choice.
Falskaar: Having saved the entirety of Skyrim, it is a good
    next step.

    Power Moves:

    Dwemer Vivisection 1
Nordic Racial Power, + Marked for Death + Aetherium Staff:
This is useful as a way to deal with a powerful foe quickly and safely. As your minion will kill it quickly after the shout takes hold. This is also a good way to ensure your allies don't get hit by the shout, as you just hit them in the back while they are running before Erik can catch up.

     Dwemer Vivisection 2
Shout enchantment + Ice Form + Marked for Death + Aetherium Staff:
This works the same way as the first one but the Dovah or Deep Breath enchantments both can massively reduce the time for the shouts.

    Fuel your own death
Shout enchantment + Ice Form + Drain Vitality Shout + Visage of Mzund
This is similar to DV2, and simply uses shouts to power your Visage of Mzund steam attack.

    Detours:

If Erik dies: (Note he isn't Essential, and it has been known to happen)
You can and should focus on taking vengeance on whoever killed him,and then begin taking the Automaton perks for smithing as now you won't risk anyone else in your journey. Next remember to drop at least 5,000 gold coins at his fathers inn as the first of your yearly tributes, as a symbol of your grief.

Hello all, I just got really into playing this build as I had been playing way to many magic heavy builds my girlfriend convinced me to try out one with a simple rule...NO MAGIC, so I started playing a Nord and this build just took off from there.

I hope you all have fun trying it out, if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions I will be around.  :)

Considering this alludes to Perkus Maximus, I recommend you add things for non PerMa users

I like the idea of the Build and how it uses mods. But i feel you can add more to the lore and also You cant Like your own build for Rank Purposes.

    To Mannimarco
OK, I un-liked it.  I really don't see a need for a lore section as these were just young men from Rorikstead rather than anything "special" like members of an ancient training course or school as so many of the other builds.  I thought that having your everyday joe turned into the hero of Skyrim was rather a big change?

    To Chris Diokno
Do you have any ideas as the main purpose of Perkus Maximus in this build is just the self charging staff perks, and the Automaton crafting if Erik dies, in vanilla I am not sure what the player could do besides put soul stealing on a 2 hander to recharge the staff but as Automatons don't generate souls (I think?), I am not sure how well that would work?

Hey Laurence, welcome to the Cb group. You're off to a decent start but here's a few major pointers to help you along:

I understand you're using mods with this build. I highly suggest posting a link to the mods you've used. It will go a long way to helping out anyone who wishes to try this build out.

Your lore section isnt really a lore section. It reads more like a play by play walk through of your progression through the game. The section is also a bit too long. Id suggest shortening it and just sticking to the basic explanation of the game play mechanics behind the build.

I really like the Idea of having a younger brother in skyrim that you will be willing to do anything to protect, something very unique indeed

I like that you've gone to use mods (PerMa really is a great overhaul, even though I haven't played around with it too much), which is something that not a lot of people do around these parts, and Dwemer-themed builds are always something I'm excited to see.

But I would advise you to go back and re-read some of your favourite builds to get advice on presentation, layout, and formatting. It feels more like a playthrough than a build. Rather than just saying what you did on this one playthrough, expand the entire character so that it doesn't matter what you do first, second, and third, just that you build the character with the same sort of mechanics and place in the world.

For artwork, there are tons of Dwemer-themed fanarts around the web and a handful of really good screen archers and Photoshoppers around this site who could take screenshots for you. Take a look at how your favourite builds use pictures to break up text and emphasise certain points (special moves, perkspreads).

In terms of mods, I like that you used them, but I feel you should expand more on them. A lot of people don't use PerMa, so explain the big draw for you to use it, as well as how the perks you took affected the playstyle of the build.
