The fall of High Velothi Culture heralded a new age for the Dunmer people. It was a time of change, of reckoning- a time when we, the Ashlanders, first became. Those of the newly birthed - and deeply misguided - Great Houses, left Saint Veloth’s teachings behind while we, the committed and the devout, wandered in search of belonging. My tribe, the Mabrigash, found it in the Vale of the Ghost Snake.

The Vale is sacred to us. It cares for us and we for it. Never would we abandon the practice of ancestral worship, for it is the combined spirits of our female forebears, mothers and grandmothers from times before the great pilgrimage, that make up the Ghost Snake. By its teachings we live- turning away outsiders and journeying from our home only when it is asked of us by the Vale itself.

Many wayward Dunmer have come to us for wisdom, for guidance, from some of the greatest of our ancestors; Boethiah, Mephala, and Azura. Our wise women alone are honored and credited for having the ‘True Vision’- and it is through this that our tribe has sensed an awakening of ancient evil that must be quelled. Skyrim, the land of cold. This is where I journey.

    Race: Dunmer (Female)

Dunmer is the best choice for anyone concerned with the Backstory and Roleplay, but Altmer is slightly better in terms of gameplay because of the +10 to Illusion, +50 to Magicka and Fury.

Skills: Alchemy, Sneak, Illusion, Restoration and Destruction (One-Handed unperked)

The first two main skills, Sneak and Illusion are ridiculously easy to raise and the third, Alchemy should level fairly naturally with you. Restoration and Destruction are definitely side skills but add a new form of combat to the character.

Spells: Flames, Fire Rune, Lightning Rune, Frost Rune, Poison Rune, Fast Healing, Fury, Frenzy, Courage (?) and Muffle

As you can see Runes make up a large part of our late game arsenal with Poison Rune being the most used. But Fury/Frenzy is the main spell we'll be using to spread chaos through enemy ranks. Muffle is mostly used when our Sneak is around 50, but can be useful late game as well. Fast Healing is purely for a quick hit when we're low on potions.

Stone: Shadow and Serpent (Aetherial Crown)

The Shadow Stone works wonders for a quick Invisibility option, without making the build too overpowered, a once a day shot with it is all you need to get out of a tricky situation. The Serpent Stone is a much more interesting choice, because it provides us with a decent Poison attack and a short Paralysis all as a ranged attack. The use of the Aetherial Crown, means we can continue to use the Serpent Power by unequipping the Crown and then equipping it again.

During the early levels of the build, fighting is at it's toughest. We don't have the powerful poisons and potions of the later levels and our only real spells are Flames and Fury. Because of this, we'll mainly be taking a gameplay path that plays much like an Assassin, using Fury on groups of enemies and then either assassinating the last target or moving in with Sword + Flames.

Warriors: Warriors will generally be the first target for Fury, they generally soak up more damage than Mages or Archers. If for whatever reason they're your last target, then they're generally pretty easy to engage with Sword + Flames (assuming you were detected), use Flames to deal a little damage while chipping away with a sword.

Mages: Are pretty much the easiest, or the hardest depending on what element they use. Generally they'd be the first to fall to an enraged warrior, but they also make an excellent target for Fury, mostly because they'll be attacked by everyone (Make sure you aren't detected though, many use Wards which block Fury). Fire Mages won't be doing all that much to you, so simply charge at them and release a few swings. Frost Mages are probably the most dangerous but with careful positioning . Storm/Shock Mages are in the middle, they suck your Magicka so they can stop your Fury spells from being successful.

Archers: Bah, easy. They'll be taken down easily by a Warrior, and won't be able to do that much to a Mage. They make poor Fury targets though, so I wouldn't bother. Get in close so they'll pull out their melee weapon (dagger usually) and then finish them with a Sword.

Honestly, combat works more or less the same here. Assassin, fights in close combat if needed, uses Frenzy a lot. But there are two things which really make it more interesting at this level, and these are Alchemy and Runes.

Alchemy: We hit the jackpot here guys, by expanding on a method of combat that's been used to enhance Familiars for ages, only this time we brought it to our enemies themselves. And that idea was the Poisons with Positive Effects.

Basically, by striking at an enemy with a poisoned Ghostblade, we can heal their Stamina and Health, give them resistance to the elements and magic and Fortify their Health. Then, we fling a Fury or Frenzy spell at them and we can send a boosted up enemy into a hoard of his weaker allies.

Note: Most Poisons are taken from either Noodle' Guide to Poisons with Positive Effects or Raidriar's Crusader

Note 2: All Poisons below are made with 100 Alchemy and all perks from the level 40 Perk Spread

The Fight Goes On: Garlic + Torchbug Thorax + Wheat:

Lingering Magicka Damage 15 points for 10 seconds

    Fortify Stamina 48 points.

Healer's Poison: Blue Mountain Flower, Nightshade and Wheat

Damage Magicka Resistance 100% for 75 seconds

    Restore Health 75

Fortify Health 48 for 60 seconds

Magebane Cure: Bear Claws, Blue Mountain Flower and Eye of Sabrecat

Damage Magicka Resistance 100% for 75 seconds

    Restore Health 75

    Restore Stamina 75

Fortify Health 48 for 60 seconds

Mage's Boon: Creep Cluster + Histcarp + Red Mountain Flower

Damage Stamina Regeneration 100% for 75 Seconds

    Restore Magicka 75

Fortify Magicka 48 for 60 seconds

Northern Fury: Creep Cluster, Red Mountain Flower and Silverside Perch

Damage Stamina Regeneration 100% for 75 Seconds

    Restore 75 Stamina

    Resist Frost 36%

Dunmer's Rage: Blisterwort + Snowberries +  Fly Amantia

Frenzy level 12 for 10 seconds

Resist Fire 36% for 60 seconds

Runes: An interesting magical ability, only boosted by Quiet Casting. We can use our more powerful spells to deal larger bursts of damage in a variety of ways. Frost Rune is probably the least useful on mainland Skyrim (Damn ye Nords) but to make up for it we have Shock and Fire Runes as incredibly powerful weapons. But best of all, we have the Poison Rune which can sap enemies of their health.

They aren't perhaps the most used weapon in our arsenal (Daggers are)  they do add another element to our combat by allowing traps to be set up.

These are just a few quick Roleplaying Tips to add some life to your character, you can expand on these to a just about any degree if you want.

Try to avoid cities or large settlements, raised as an Ashlander really didn't give you much exposure to large cities or crowds.

Killing people is morally alright, but try not to alert the guards to it. Attention in a big city really isn't something you'd  be after.

Try to remain as mysterious as possible, talking as little as possible to people and just generally being anti-social.

Do not tolerate insults, whether personal or racial. Anyone who thinks they can insult you...well let's just say they won't be waking up the next day.

    Quests:

Black Books (Collect, but do not finish/retrieve the power): "The Ghost Snake is a guide, it leads and I follow. For whatever reason, it has sent be to this solitude of the native Dunmer, and I feel the call of the evil of the Watch-Serpent, his books of black have spread influence throughout these islands, calling many to their dark power. Perhaps they'll work to empower the Ghost Snake...or perhaps I shall hide them where none shall find them. Either way they shall never taint my soul, nor anyone else's"

Tel Mithryn Quests: "I am unsure what brought me to this mushroom. I doubt the Ghost Snake would lead me here and yet I am here. Perhaps I sensed a...need that these mushroom-wizards had for me, or for the guidance of one of the Mabrigash anyway. "

Dark Brotherhood: "I have joined this...group of Assassins, for once I did not follow the path the Ghost Snake set for me, I joined them for the ability to follow the path better. These assassins are well trained, and more importantly, aren't bound by honor as much as others, they take a job, get it done and perform as well as possible."

Misc Quests: "The Path is set different for everyone. Some are guided into helping people, some are guided into killing but most importantly is that the you follow the Ghost Snake wherever it guides. This is told to every Mabrigash Ashlander, for the Ghost Snake is the only one who can truly know our paths, and thus we should strive to follow it wherever it may lead us."

I'm going to post the Shao'kai tomorrow or, better yet, the day after so that it doesn't steal your spotlight.

Awesome work DB, glad to be a part of this project. Though it appears one of your images is broken, between Dunmer´s Rage and Runes
