    THE NEW LIFE DEVIL

Hello, hello! Welcome to my first build. I felt it... fitting that around this time of year, a holiday build is uploaded. This build is heavily based around "Krampus", a German Christmas legend who recently entered the public eye in a new thriller. Krampus is essentially the opposite of Saint Nicholas, one who arrives to punish those who have been "naughty". He takes the form of a menacing devil, and has become a cultural icon in Germany. He was great fun to translate into Skyrim, so I hope the build is enjoyable!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    LORE

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many of Tamriel's residents doubt the existence of the New Life Devil.

He is a figure shrouded in legend and myth, one whose name is spoken of only by the tongue of storytellers and parents hoping to quell their children's rebellious attitudes. Little do these people know that the New Life Devil is very real, and far more terrifying than they could imagine. His true origin is unknown, and perhaps unknowable. It can only be guessed at. What is known, however, is that the New Life Devil exists to punish those who have lost their morality and turned to evil in any form. From rude children to cutthroat bandits, this creature cannot be mentioned without talk of his brutal punishments.

As the name implies, he is connected to the New Life Festival, a time where Tamriel's inhabitants make merry in celebration of a new year. The holiday is typically celebrated by giving and partying, seeing both of which makes its Devil exceedingly happy. However, the holiday's origins were dark... it was initially used to pay tribute to a long-forgotten deity. Little does anyone know that the deity in question was not... a deity at all. It was a creature of great magical power who took great pleasure in revelry and joy. This creature was the New Life Devil, and through the years since those days, he has been ensuring that his holiday be celebrated properly - even if he must ensure it violently.

I'd highly recommend using the "Alternate Start" mod if you can, and using it to start with the Dawnguard. If not, simply disregard the Helgen bit and use your time to find your way to the Dawnguard. The New Life Devil will eventually be called upon by the Greybeards, and will be doing the main quest.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    THE BUILD

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Race: Dark Elf.

Though the Devil isn't actually a Dark Elf, he is often mistaken for one. Be sure to have long hair and beard, and to make your character look as unnatural as possible. He should bear a resemblance to a Dunmer, but closer examination should reveal his inhumanity... or in-elfness.

    Stat Distribution: 2/1/1

The New Life Devil needs a good amount of magicka, given that spells are important to his playstyle, but he'll also need both Stamina and Health to keep up with his physical attacks, particularly power attacks with his mace.

    Standing Stone: Lady Stone.

You'll likely need the boost to Health and Stamina, since Magic is getting the most attention in the distribution. Feel free to use the Lord Stone, if you feel like you can get by without the boost in Health and Stamin regen. The Standing Stone isn't incredibly important to the build.

Shouts: Frost Breath, Ice Form, and Storm Call.

The New Life Devil has a connection to frost and snow, and thus makes use of it in battle. With only his voice, he can call upon freezing temperatures to demolish his opponents.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    MAJOR SKILLS

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Destruction

His connection to the cold does not end at his voice. No, the New Life Devil is a master of ice magic, and uses it with great efficiency in combat. Along with his mace, his destruction magic is his primary tool in battle. Make sure you only use ice spells, though! Fire and lightning don't really go with the character.

    One-Handed

Oh, the New Life Devil is positively infamous for the cruel beatings he inflicts upon his enemies. He wields a mace in combat, hoping to deal out as much damage as he can.

    Enchantment

The New Life Devil doesn't limit his magic to spells. No, he has a distinct tendency to weave his spells into his weapons and armor, allowing his blows to have a greater bite and his armor to better protect him.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    MINOR SKILLS

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Heavy Armor

The New Life Devil is remarkably difficult to hurt or injure. The heavy armor he employs certainly helps him in the 'not getting harmed' department. Though you will be using heavy armor, you will have to make your way up to the "Advanced Armors" perk so that you can use your Nordic Carved Armor properly.

    Smithing

Just as skillfully crafted gifts are made for the New Life Festival, the Devil forges his own weapons and armor, using his educated, nimble hands to craft the most sturdy armor he can to keep himself from being taken out in combat.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    PERKS

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To have a complete New Life Devil, you must be Level 40.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ROLEPLAY

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Honestly, this is the best part.

The New Life Devil is a violent spirit of vengeance, one who exists only to punish those that defy the meaning of his holiday. Anyone whose exists demeans or hurts another person, especially if said person is one of those who follow his ideology of revelry and debauchery, must be dealt with quickly and brutally. Bandits, Draugr, Dragons, Vampires... anything that brings harm and despair must be destroyed. Thus, as the New Life Devil, you will be actively seeking out ways to destroy those who bring suffering to Tamriel.

Not only that, though, but you will be aiding those who deserve pleasant moments of debauchery. You will always give gold to beggars, take quests from those who seem worthy of the Devil's attention, and generally help out the land from afar. For the most part, you will be taking no part in direct actions.

You'll be doing the Dawnguard quest on the side of the hunters, as well as the main quest and the Dragonborn quest. The Devil prefers not to battle great evil forces, but his morality will force him into dispatching the forces of darkness when no one else can. After all, what better way is there to ruin the world's joy by enslaving it or destroying it? The New Life Devil is strongly opposed to both things, and will do all in his power to punish Alduin, Harkon, and Miraak.

Other suggested quests are the "Laid to Rest" quest, the "Blood on the Ice" quest, and the Forsworn quest in Markarth. However, the Devil will not be taking a very active role, and thus will do few quests, compared to other builds. Most of your time as the Devil will be prowling the land, searching for enemies.

You will do Clavicus Vile's quest to gain the Masque of Clavicus Vile. Of course, that means you'll keep Barbas alive - the New Life Devil loves to spite the Daedric Princes... save, of course, for Sanguine, whose quest you should also probably do.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    BATTLE

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Equipment

You'll be wearing Nordic Carved Armor, once you can get your hands on it, and the Masque of Clavicus Vile. Any mace will suffice. You'll be wearing an amulet and ring of your choice for additional enchantments. Your armor will be enchanted with the following enchantments:

    Gauntlets: Fortify One-Handed.

    Cuirass: Fortify Destruction.

    Boots: Resist Frost.

    Amulet: Fortify Health.

    Ring: Fortify Magicka.

    Mace: Frost Damage.

    ----------------------

    Strategy

In battle, be sure to be as brutal as possible. Tactics don't mean much to the New Life Devil - he prefers to dish out harsh, violent beatings before coming up with a strategy. Don't let this hinder you, though - if you must employ strategy in a fight, it's easy to assume that the Devil has met someone who he cannot simply rush up to and beat down. He isn't stupid, after all. Just very, very violent.

    ----------------------

    Special Moves

Storm Call + Frost Cloak = Gruss vom Krampus: The Devil summons the full might of a storm. This is how pretty much difficult battle should begin, particularly against giants or more powerful enemies. If you want to finish off a group of weaker enemies quickly, using this combined with devastating mace attacks is sure to kill them quick.

    ----------------------

You should get a Riekling follower/pet when you can! I find its presence adds to the overall winter theme of the build. Plus, it isn't just Saint Nicholas that needs elves, is it...?

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    FINAL THOUGHTS

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Though I fear this build may be somewhat rough, I believe I've done a decent job with it. Be sure to tell me your thoughts - especially constructive criticism. I'd love to hear what I can do better in future builds.

The idea is awesome. Did you consider the Mace of Molag Bal? I dont think there is anything as brutal as this weapon in the game.

Vielleicht noch nen special move mit Auriels Bogen?^^

Looks great. Have you thought of using the Clavicus Vile masque? I think it'd look great on your build.

Awesome work, I've been thinking of doing a Christmasy build for awhile, either with Saint Nick, or Jesus. Good job with Krampus, too bad you can't stuff people into a sack, unless you Soul TRap them into Black SOul Gems

To be fair though, getting the mace of Molag Bal would involve carrying out the brutal orders of a daedric prince whose morals are the complete opposite of Krampus'. Perhaps just using the rusty mace, so not killing the priest you have to capture and kill? Sure, the damage isn't as high but you could always improve it at a grindstone and it still has that barbed, brutal aesthetic.

And I think you can enchant the Rusty Mace

A really unique idea, I love anything based on folklore and European mythology, especially Germanic! I like the anti-hero-but-still-a-hero vibe as well. Sweet build mate, and happy holidays. Maybe Die Erlking might be an idea for the future?

Good idea^^. I'm thinking of an Thalmor guy (Erlking is actually "Elven king") that silently "kidnaps" little Talos-believers at night. Pickpocket-poison-action.

Just a note, you should fix your tags, you need the Character build ones to have quotation marks around them, e.g. "Character Build: Elementalist" , "Character Build Juggernaut" Also note you can only have three Character Build tags on any one build.

An interesting build, although I haven't seen Krampus +1

I just watched the movie in theaters, and it was better than I thought it would be. I once made a Santa Claus build, but it got deleted.

As far as your build, I would uncenter the text, unless you really wanted it to be centered. If you left align the text, I would say add more pictures. I would consider making a helmet with horns a necessary component of this build as well!
