    Character Build: Khajiit Shaman

    Backstory:

The shaman was born into a family of khajiit merchants in Elsweyr. For the first few years of his life, he was often travelling around his homeland, selling goods with his family. A few days after his fourth birthday, however, the Shaman’s family had to travel through a thick forest to get to Torval for a big trading deal. That’s when it all happened. They saw a man lying on the ground next to his horse. As his aunt ran up to see if the man was alive, he got up and plunged a knife into her belly. The family screamed in horror as bandits jumped out of a bush nearby. They had been ambushed. One by one, the shaman’s family was slaughtered, leaving only the shaman and his father. He told the shaman to run while he held them off. As the shaman looked back, his father was bleeding, fighting off as many bandits as he could. He watched in horror as they cleaved him down the middle. Fortunately, a mage was looking for some materials at that time, and heard the shaman’s screams. He was rescued, and brought up by the mage in a nearby cottage. The mage, a khajiit named Sahsrala, later found that the shaman had an amazing talent for destruction and conjuration magic. Sahsrala taught the shaman basic spells for years until one day, he became violently ill. On the day he died, he told the shaman to go to Skyrim and join the College of Winterhold. He had colleagues there, and this was where he studied magic in his early years. The shaman began a two year journey to Skyrim, picking up an interest in Alteration along the way. As you probably guessed, he was caught on the border, and this is where your story starts.

    Skills:

    Destruction:

You will use this as your main offense, blasting opponents to shreds. The element you use is up to you, but I prefer storm magic. You will want to get every spell for the element you choose.

    Conjuration:

Conjuration will help you immensely in all stages of the game. Be sure to set up atronachs before any battle, as this character is a little challenging at the beginning because of his low armor rating.

    Alteration:

Alteration is mainly for setting up defenses with spells like ironflesh and ebonyflesh. This is very important considering you’ll be using robes, and you MUST set up at least one flesh spell before any battle. This is the most important thing to cast, and make it your number one priority.

    Stat Spread:

For every ten levels, you will want six invested in magicka, and four in health. Stamina is completely unnecessary in this build, because you won’t really be running or power attacking. The health is solely for staying alive and occasionally using equilibrium if you must, while magicka is for using your onslaught of spells and powers.

    Role Playing:

You’ll want to complete the College of Winterhold questline, and become the arch-mage. Most of the role-playing is you acting like the arch-mage, and expirementing on your own magical endeavors. You also will want to try to do favors for people in the college and collect books for the arcaneum whenever possible. You dislike bandits for what they did for your family, so you will take out any camp you see, and show no mercy. You won’t really be a thief because of your extreme distaste for murderers and criminals in general, but if there is something really valuable or something you need, you may take it. You’re a very smart, very logical character, and are widely known as diplomatic and, when needed, manipulative. You are able to solve problems and get people on your side. Your character doesn’t really care much about politics, but if you want to do the civil war questline, go with the imperials because you just want to stop the fighting, not immediately go over to the thalmor. You are also an avid alchemist, so don’t hesitate to level up the skill and go out to collect materials for a good potion. A small thing before I move on though, I roleplayed as a master of all magic schools, so if you are to do this, you will have to master every school of magic. It may seem like a daunting task, but there are a few exploits that can help you.(P.S, becoming a vampire may be done, but is optional)

    Important Quests:

    -College of WInterhold Questline

    -Main Questline

-College Sidequests, mainly from the Arcaneum

    -Thane Questlines

-House Questlines (If you have Hearthfire)

    Gear:

    -You’ll want the following gear:

    -Mage’s Circlet (College Questline)

    -Arch-Mage Robes (College Questline)

    -Savos Aren’s Amulet (College Questline)

-Boots (fortify magicka or magicka regen)

    -Gloves (magicka or magicka regen)

    -Ring (magicka or magicka regen)

    -Atronach Stone

This gear allows you to cast lots of spells and recover your energy quickly. This is crucial for this character, mainly because he has almost no backup for when he runs out of magicka.Staffs may also be used, but that is up to you. Mehrune’s Razor may be useful for when you run out of spells, but this is optional as well.

    Important Spells:

    Destruction:

    -Master spell of your element.

    -Thunderbolt, Icy Spear, or Incinerate

-Chain Lightning, Fireball, or Ice storm

-Wall of Flames, Storms, or Ice

    Conjuration:

-Conjure Flame, Storm, or Ice Atronach

    -Storm, Flame, or Ice Thrall

    -Revenant

    -Dead Thrall

-Note: You may use Bound Bow or Bound Sword, but I prefer not to.

    Alteration:

    -Dragon Hide

    -Ebonyflesh

    -Equilibrium

-Note: Alteration is solely here for the defensive capabilities, but don’t underestimate how much these two will do for you when used in combination with each other. Equilibrium is used for emergencies when you run out of magicka, but isn’t recommended for everyday battles and skirmishes.

    Restoration:

    -Grand Healing

    -Heal Other

    -Grand Ward

    -Circle of Protection

-Note: Circle of Protection, while optional, can be immensely helpful. It quickly restores your magicka, and allows you to cast an almost infinite amount of spells. You can cast a master spell and regenerate all your magicka instantly.

    Shouts:

    -Unrelenting Force

    -Whirlwind Sprint

    -Fire Breath

    -Frost Breath

    -Dragon Aspect

    Important Perks:

    Destruction:

-Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Expert, and Master Casting

    -Destruction Dual Casting

-Augmented Shock, Flames, or Frost 3/3

    -Impact

-Disintegrate, Deep Freeze, or Intense Flames

    Conjuration:

-Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Expert, and Master Casting

    -Conjuration Dual Casting

    -Necromancy

    -Dark Souls

    -Twin Souls

    -Summoner

    -Atromancy

    -Elemental Potency

    Alteration:

-Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Expert, and Master Casting

    -Mage Armor 3/3

    -Magic Resistance 3/3

    -Stability

    -Atronach

    Restoration:

-Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Expert, and Master Casting

    -Restoration Dual Casting

    -Recovery 2/2

    -Avoid Death

    -Regeneration

    -Necromage

    -Ward Absorb

All of these perks can be achieved at a character level of 48, and if you choose to go higher, I would recommend investing in alchemy and enchanting, as these are things a character like the shaman would be interested in. You may add or remove any perks, depending on your playstyle, but these are the most generalized perks for this playstyle I could think of.

So how’d you like my first build? I hope you enjoy it, and feel free to leave criticism and comments below. Give me topics to do next, such as an arcane assassin or werewolf hunter. See you next time!

This is as all mage as it can get. Pretty good, I just wanted to let you know that the higher ups in this site will murder this build if you don't have a perk spread and pictures for your build. You might want to go to the CB help desk as well as the art group for ideas. This is like a character build created in a quick like fashion. No long descriptions, no lengthy paragraphs it just gets to the point of setting up the character with the story on it on top. Though it may not measure up to a normal build, it does have a certain aspect going for it. I like it. Just make sure that you have those pictures and a perk spread soon. Good job just keep improving!

    Character Build, not Skyrim Build

  • November 11, 2015

Thank you so much! By the way, what do you mean by perk spread? I have the perks listed. I'm still new here so I'm not entirely sure what some of the terms mean.

I'm so good at this (not)

Wanna advice? Use this template to present your build. You must present your build as if you were selling a product.

A picture that's easy to read that has all the perks this build has taken in it. The list of perks you have on here need to go in a picture. I personally don't have any bones about it but others might. If there is anything you're not familiar with let me know. Others will be happy to help too. Welcome to the site. I'm pretty new here myself. There is still much to explore on here.
