Contest Build: The Bloodclaw

  • August 28, 2015
Excellent work guys. This will definitely be a tough build to beat by a worthy challenge. It's a rare treat here in the cb group to get two great werewolf builds in the span of a few months. The synergy between the three different styles is great. Raid and I have our work cut out for us.

Thanks Curse. Not gonna lie, while I'm really happy with how this one turned out and I know we all appreciate the positive feedback from everyone who's responded, I'm personally far from comfortable with its current position in the contest. Speaking purely as someone who wants to win, I was really hoping to get 50+ Likes and have some breathing room from the later submissions like yours/Raid's and DB/Ely's. As it stands, this contest is definitely up for grabs. It'll be interesting to see how things stand when the dust settles.

I should try to push out a video just for the sake of bringing a bit more attention to this guy once the other builds are posted.

Well win or lose, you still posted a quality build that will likely hit legendary one day.

Hey there - I am playing through this build and got the ring of the hunt, equipped it and started Ill Met by Moonlight...I have a saved game right before starting that quest.

After finishing Ill Met - how do I know if I got the constant passive Ring of the Hunt effect?

It doesn't seem like I'm getting any health regen other than that of the Lady Stone...

Tips? Does the Ring of the Hunt actually show as equipped if you do it right? Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to do it properly?

Thanks - enjoying the play through quite a bit regardless!

Hey Motty, sorry I missed this. From the writeup:

Equip the [Ring of the Hunt] prior to beginning Ill Met By Moonlight, and attempt to re-equip it when it is forcibly removed by the Cursed Ring during that quest.

Did you do that part? If you don't attempt to re-equip it, you won't get the effects. And no, the Ring of the Hunt will not appear to be equipped in your inventory. But you should hear the equipping noise when you try to equip it, again, right after the Cursed Ring is added to your inventory. Just click the equip button once, and you should hear the noise and be good to go.

You'll know it worked if you get a message in the top corner of your screen telling you that Frostmoon Hunt was activated upon transforming (and, obviously, if your health regenerates while In Beast Form).

I hope I'm not too late in replying here, and I hope this helps! Glad you like the build, buddy.

What an amazing build, team! You and I talked about this little werewolf trick you had, Tec, and I'm glad it came to fruition. There aren't enough werewolf builds on the site in my opinion which I prefer over vampirism. It's good to see another good one added to the list! I really like the Health Regen emphasis. As a werewolf, the player has no way to heal effectively without feeding on bodies but the Ring of the Hunt, Regen potions, and the Lady Stone would definitely compensate that. It reminds me of how my Nethermancer used a Health Absorb enchantment in beast form to do the same. Werewolves have always had that against them but leave it to the T&T crew to adapt and overcome ;) My one (very minor) beef with the build is more of a personal preference but...Argonians :p I think it would have been cooler to play off the Bloodclaws as the Nordic equivalent to Shadowscales. Like any Nord born as a lycanthrope was whisked away by the DB. Of course Histskin goes with the theme though. Also the pic above roleplay notes was difficult to discern cuz it's so dark. Maybe it's just my terrible eyesight though. All in all, great work here Tec, Tae, and Skally! Love me a good lycanthrope. Ch-ch-cheers! And +1

Perfect! Thanks. And yes I'm getting the frostmoon indicator. I guess I thought the health regen would be faster but I only messed with it once because I didn't want to keep going until I checked. Thanks and good luck w the contest!

I assumed lol! But Histskin makes sense, especially with the ability to reset it with Beast Form. I once ran across a similar exploit where increasing and decreasing stages in vampirism would reset all of my Greater Powers. I tried to figure out how to repeat it cuz I was gonna add it to my last build but it escaped me :p either way this is my favorite in the contest. Hope it prevails!

Make sure you're maximizing each transformation by throwing in Health Regen potions, Fortify Health effects, etc. It gets better and better as your Health pool gets higher, so in the early and mid-game, when you only have around 200 health, haven't picked up the extra 100 Health perk in the werewolf tree, and your Health / Health Regen potions are only give you around 25% or +25 health, you won't be seeing huge returns. But in the endgame, with 800+ Health (including perks, buffs, etc.) and optimized potions, you'll be practically untouchable. I went toe to toe against two giants while in Beast Form and they just couldn't whittle me down below about 80% Health, it was awesome!
