With Crossworlds out of the way, I thought it's about high time I do a republish of my first build ever on this site, deleted in the Great Purge of 2013. A group so badass they charged nude into a legion of Roman soldiers, a group that were among the few considered manly by the Romans.....

    Celtic Battle Music

To give a sort of background to this build, as a history nerd, especially of things referring to Rome, I'd like to quote the Roman historian Diodorus:

"Their aspect is terrifying...They are very tall in stature, with ripling muscles under clear white skin. Their hair is blond, but not naturally so: they bleach it, to this day, artificially, washing it in lime and combing it back from their foreheaads. They look like wood-demons, their hair thick and shaggy like a horse's mane. Some of them are cleanshaven, but others - especially those of high rank, shave their cheeks but leave a moustache that covers the whole mouth and, when they eat and drink, acts like a sieve, trapping particles of food...:

    and

"In exactly the same way as hunters do with their skulls of the animals they have slain...they preserved the heads of their most high-ranking victims in cedar oil, keeping them carefully in wooden boxes."

Basically, these guys mean business, lets get on with the main backstory of the character. It took Rome 500 years before they could sleep soundly without worrying that an army of Celts would come pouring through the gates of Rome.

In the early days of the Reachmen, there was one clan, known as the Celts, named after their founder, Aedan Celtigano. They followed the Old Ways of their people, led by some of the Druids of Galen. There they worshipped, in the mountains and glens of High Rock, Magnus, Arkay, Kynareth, Syrabane Jephre, Phynaster, and Ebonarm. While they are versed in the arts of ambush and flanking, their main solution to dealing with problems is by charging with only facepaint and a shield as their only clothes, into their foes. They collect the skulls of their slain, and despise the Empire, for they have made war on their brethren. Some have been seen coming from their mountains, into Skyrim.....

Race: Breton, not only does it work due to the real world culture they are based off of, but they have in-built Magic Resistance, Dragonskin, and skill bonuses in Speech, Restoration, etc.

Stat Spread: 0/3/2 in Magicka, Health, and Stamina

Standing Stone: The Lord. Our character is the son of a great warchief, and is thus a noble of sorts. The extra magic resistance will bump us up to fifty, and the extra AR is nice with our mismatched armor.

Skills: One-Handed, Block, Smithing (Only 2 perks), Enchanting, Two-Handed, Sneak, Archery.

Shouts: Whirlwind Sprint, Unrelenting Force, Battle Fury, Elemental Fury, Dragon Aspect, Cyclone, Marked for Death, Fire Breath, Become Ethereal, Slow Time.

Props to Golden Fool for the Perk Spread

One-Handed-Wielding a blade, weapon of the noble champions of the clan, and a brutal club as a backup weapon, the Celtic Warrior cleaves through his foes like a scythe through wheat.

Block-Locking shields, the Celt and his fellows become a nigh impenetrable wall of steel and blades. Mounted foes’ horses either turn away in fear, or fall, leaving their riders at the mercyof the Celts.

Two-Handed-Wielding titanic claidheams and long spears dipped in venom imported from northern tribes, the Celt tribes kept lesser armored foot soldiers and mounted riders at a distance.

Enchanting-Offering souls to the gods, the Druids and the Warriors alike empower their arms and armors

Sneak-While it is not their favored tactic, the sons and daughters of Celtigano, are skilled ambushers, striking from the shadows at their encamped foes.

*Archery-While the clan normally prefers up close attacks, the Celts know that not all foes can be reached by a blade, so they use simple bows, javelins, and slings.

(*You may swap out Archery for Speech)

*For those of you without Dragonborn feel free to replace the Nordic Sword and Greatsword with a Skyforge Steel Sword and Greatsword, an optional subsitute for the Light Imperial Shield is the Targe of the Bloodied*

With this build, I played this character, while he will do heroic acts, does them not because they are the right thing to do, but because it brings honor to his name, his clan, and his people as a whole. Support Ulfric because he wishes to boot out the Imperials, who you hate as well, and because he is a worthy man with strength in his swordarm, and gifted with the Voice of Akatosh.

With dragons, in Celtic culture, as seen as important to the energies of the world, as symbols of power, and wisdom, and the Celtic Warrior relishes having the power of the Dov. Complete the main quest, and gain more power by slaying Miraak. With Harkon, since my character saw vampires as an unholy abomination, join Dawnguard, get Serana cured, and then make Harkon’s castle your new home as unofficial King in the North.

Though, during the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller, feel free to join the Companions and become Harbinger, and join the Bard’s College. What noble warrior doesn’t want a hearty mead hall to sing tales of his exploits with fellow warriors, or be remembered in myth and song by bards and skalds?

Though, he does see glory and honor in felling such a powerful prize. Like a young boy did to the great sea dragon Master Stoorworm, the Celt uses planning to slay dragons. WIth no access to any extra magic, the main spells you should be casting are healing spells. When a dragon is in the air, either A.) Shout him out of the sky with Dragonrend, or B.) Activate Dragonskin, ping him off with arrows, and duck into cover when you know he’s going to breath. Once he’s on the ground, bash your shield into his scaley face to stop any Thu’Ums, and then drive your blade into his face. This also works well against mages, having an archer battle, though the Celt would rather prefer being up in that squishy mage’s grill.

If you have another follower (Preferably another Breton like Celann), its best to form shield walls of sorts. Stand as close to your follower as possible, and raise your shield. This will allow you time to disorient your enemy, and possibly relieve him of his weapon with a shield bash, you can then either slice him up with a falcata, or beating their faces in with the burda.

With sneak archery, I only used this in camp areas, whether they be Imperial, or just some bandit camp. Poison your arrows (Use only Iron, Ancient Nord, or, if you have Dragonborn, Riekling spears.), and launch them at your foes. Once you are spotted, rush in, and start slaying as many soldiers/bandits as you can. This character is a skilled ambusher, but despises staying in sneak mode, believing it to be cowardly.

Also, join the Dark Brotherhood, but do not sneak about. Just go in, kill your target (And anyone else that gets in your way), and revel in having weakened the Empire some, if you can’t guess, join the Stormcloaks. Kill any Thalmor and Imperial patrols, especially if they have prisoners.

Do any quests that have a chance to give you some gold or treasure, and explore any and all ruins and caves you come across. One good quest is The Man who Cried Wolf/The Wolf Queen Awakened, wherein you get to slay some filthy necromancers.

Also, in regards to Madanach, you can do two things with him. Roleplay him as a rival chieftan to your clan, and kill him, or as your uncle, who you help break out of jail, and have some friendly Forsworn in Drudach Redoubt.

With heavy armored chargers, as in enemies wielding two handed weapons, whip out your lancea, and poison the blade. Using the well known trick of Potion of Fortify Alteration+Slow Time around the end of Quick Reflexes, you’ll be able to get your foe poisoned (Preferably Lingering Damage Health or Paralysis if you find some), and then be able to spear them. It also works well on a horse like Frost. When searching for Esbern or Septimus, just talk the information out of the Thieves, then kill them, using the “place wooden plate against surface and run against it” glitch to get into the Cistern, and swim out into the frozen cold to find the mad wizard.

For PC players, Immersive Weapons and Immersive armor adds some nice weapons and armor that fit, including spears.

    • Be rude to any Thalmor of Imperials you come across, if you can interact with them, choose the most curt responses, if possible

    • If speaking to a fellow Breton, if possible use the Bribe or Persuade option, if not, you’re more likely to use the Intimidate option.

    • If you have Hearthfire, try to build all the houses, and try to only go into cities when you need to trade or do other business there.

    • Be kind to any Khajiit or Argonians you come across, your kind are all outcasts in this land of frost. Never harm a child or a civilian, unless they try to murder you first, you are not the savage the Imperial dogs paint your people to be

    • Keep trophies, like Human, Briar, or Daedra Hearts, dragon bones and scales, and the like in a special chest in your home, or on display.

    • If you have the mods Amazing Follower Tweaks (Allows, among other things, the ability to make nearly NPC your follower)  and Unlimited Followers, form your own band of Celts.

    cooltext1919010813.png

Shield Wall-Rallying his followers to glory, the Celtic Warrior forms a near impenatrable shield wall. (Follower(s)+Battle Fury+Raise Shield+Secret of Protection/Bones of the Earth+Power Bash)

Sundering Blow-Slamming his shield into his opponents skull, the Celt slashes his foe, delivering a slice on a tendon. Calling upon a Warrior of Old, the Celtic Warrior slams his Burda down.

(Deadly Bash+Paralysis Poison+Falcata+Call of Valor+Burda+Lingering Damage Health Poison)

Coward’s Folly-The sight of a fearsome Celt, imbued with the power of Ebonarm and Akatosh, causes an opponent to drop their weapon in fear. Grinning, the Celt rushes forward, lancea drawn.

    (Dragon Aspect+Disarm+Damage Health Poison+Lancea+Great Critical Charge+

Rage Rush-Rushing forward with either shield or blade, the Celt sends his foe crashing down.

(Shield Charge+Targe of the Bloodied/Lancea+Block Runner)

Pain is Nothing!-His body hardened by war, the Celtic Warrior becomes impervious to pain. Surrounded by foes, he brings his spear around, coating them in a burning oil.

    (Bones of the Earth/Seeker of Protection+Dragonskin+Lord Stone+Marked for Death+Sweep+Poison)

Hey man, great work! The Celts were one of my favorite groups to learn about back in middle school and highschool. I always found them interesting because of my family's Celtic ancestory.

Amazing build Chris, I can't help but think of Braveheart (If memory serves me well I believe Wallace was a Celt). Anyways well thought out build man, +1 from me.

I played a very similar character a while ago called Conan Meriadoc - used the Morthal shield instead because of the triskelion pattern. Great build :-)

Huh, I never thought of the Morthal Shield at all while playing through this. and thanks guys

Nice build, I definitively like the custom set of gear, but as Ed mentionned above, I would definitively give the Morthal shield a try, especially if you don't have the targe yet and don't think an imperial hater would walk around with the emblem of said empire on his shield (I don't care too much about that though, if I'm not mistaken the form of the shield ressembles a lot of celtic shields)

By the way, your skill section seems a bit messed up (might be on my side though)

I know how it is, my skill sections look identical and yes, when I move an image that section has a tendancy of going bunkus, hope you can fix it.

So, is this a repost, or a revamp?
