    *Utilizes Dragonborn and Dawnguard content*

“The mainlanders on Tamriel and the Tscaei believe we, the Men and Women of Akavir extinct, whether devoured or forcibly assimilated, but we live. A number of us managed to flee to a neighboring landmass, which we christened New Akavir. One such family were my ancestors, the Damune Clan, a proud noble family of Sa Murai. Even though I am eldest, my brother is to lead. Father sent him to a pilgrimage to the mainland. He deserves it. When he was just fifteen, he led a company of men. His ferocity and ruthless tactics in combat earned my dear brother the moniker of...

“My brother, Mesamiune, always the show off. Once, while fighting a duel, he decided to wield six blades, just to test his skill, he won, of course. When he was a boy, a combination of illness and a training exercise, causing him to lose an eye. Don’t believe him when he removed it himself, heh. Though, I have to admit, he is not only a shrewd tactician, but prideful. When our grandfather was captured by a rival clan, all it took was for him to say Mesamiune was a coward, and my brother had his men shoot through grandfather. Its been a month since he left, and I can still remember what he told me on the docks....”

“"Rectitude carried to excess hardens into stiffness; benevolence indulged beyond measure sinks into weakness."

Race: Imperial. “Many of our kinsmen who have scouted the provinces of Cyrodill have said we Akaviri resemble the Imperial race, possibly due to their ancestors breeding with ours. They seem to be naturally skilled in using heavy armors, Enchanting, wielding one-handed weapons, and blocking. My brother carries the Voice of our Emperor Meisho."

Standing Stone: Befitting the son of nobility, our family was born under the stars of The Lord. With the Aethereal Crown, slot in the Steed.

Stat Spread: 2/3/3 in Magicka, Health, and Stamina. Magicka can stop at 340, and Health around 320.

In my five playthroughs (Thank you console commands), command has been quite fun, especially on horseback. Starting out from Helgen, following Hadvar, and doing the usual Golden Claw/Bleak Falls Barrow deal, head to Jorrvaskr and do the Companions questline, up to the Silver Hand. Stop the quest there and go off to do the Main Quest. Once you complete A Blade in the Dark, I decided to give Delphine her planning time and decided to go off and do my character’s pilgrimage. With Faedel at my back, I aided the Dawnguard in their quest to rid the world of vampires, or, if you want to play a darker, power hungry character, join the Volkihar, and then went to Solstheim. Instead of doing the Dragonborn questline at this point, I decided to help out the citizens of Raven Rock. Slay/Join the Dark Brotherhood, and join up with the Legion. Another worthwile quest is the Bard’s College, because what proud noble doesn’t wish to be remembered in verse, and read good poetry? Another quest to pick up here is the Man Who Cried Wolf/Wolf Queen Awakened, for the Shield of Solitude, to disenchant.

Dis/enchant any items you find, if you have soul gems. Enchantments too look out for are Banish, Paralysis, Healing/Stamina Regen, and Fortify Destruction.

With the Dragon, during battle, it depends on the situation. I have listed out how to deal with certain enemies:

Chargers-You love ‘em or hate ‘em. Whether two handed or dual wielding, these often hard hitting motherbuckers should, until they get to you, should be filled with, possibly poisoned, arrows, send followers to soften them up. Once they get in your face, keep your shield up bash, and then whittle away their health. If possible, lay an Ash rune to cut them off from the rest of the group, or a frost rune to slow them down.

Archers-If you can hit them, engage these bow slinging foes in an honourable archer duel. Try to block or get behind cover when necessary, such as if there are multiple in one area.

Mages/Dragons-Ah, magic users and wyrms. With little magic resistance, The Dragon of Akavir can either A.)Have a follower, whether mage or archer, aid him in taking his foe down from range, or B.) Mages-Use Become Ethereal or Whirlwind Sprint to close the gap, and unleash a bladed fury. Dragons-Use Dragonrend, or just wait for them to land, and equip Dragonbane, and go to town on the beast, boosting your followers) with courage spells as they back you up.

One thing I learned from both my heavily modded (248) Skyrim, and Mount and Blade: Warband, charging into an army on a horse is generally a bad idea, unless you got an army with you. This is where a well known glitch begins. Have Delphine and Esbern follow you to Sky Haven Temple, but complete the quest. Then, pick up a follower of your choice (I prefer Vorstag or Mercurio), and give them a Staff of Summon X, or Sanguine’s Rose. Grab a faithful dog, and then go pick up Serana. Now, I’ve found that, if you have a follower with you when she is made to follow you, you get her and you follower. Now, we have Follower/Hireling/Housecarl, dog, Esbern, Esbern’s Atronach (Frost, if memory serves), a summon from the Rose/Staff, Delphine, Serana, and you, plus Odahving/Durnheviir and any enemies you “Persuade to join your side” via Bend Will. Use Whirlwind Cloak to get some breathing room if it gets too crowded.

Of course, if you have the Unlimited Followers mod and Amazing Follower Tweaks, you can A) Make any non-hostile NPC a follower, potentially breaking a quest or two, and B) Have an unlimited amount of followers. If you feel your followers aren’t up to your standards, shoot a few arrows into their backs to kick them into gear.

Now, this character will carry four Blades Swords, two unenchanted, for Elemental Fury, and two, enchanted, for use with Slow Time, alongside an Ebony Battleaxe, an Orcish bow, and a Silver Greatsword.

When on horseback, use your battleaxe or spear (Greatsword), and charge towards your foes. If your horse ends up dying beneath you, kill your foes, and then give your fallen comrades a proper service. Place their weapons by them, and shoot an arrow into the air.

Never back down from a fight, if you do, your character must go into battle, and fight until their death as repentance.

Spineless Marauders prove no match for the Dragon of Akavir.

    cooltext1932734663.png

One-Handed-My brother prefered to use blades, quicker he told me, and easier to make if need be, though....

Two-Handed: ....That does not mean he only used blades. Our weaponsmaster, Arya Shinji, taught us the way of the spear, and of halberds.

Archery-Whether it be on horseback in warfare, or in archer duels, we Akaviri are skilled with long and short bows.

Smithing-Unlike those nobles who would let other hands, hands that could be paid by the enemy to craft faults in the armor or weapons, make their items, we of the Damune prefer to build strength by forging our own arms and armor, and improving them.

Enchanting-The Damune Clan have been the birthplace of many of the famous spellsmiths of Akavir.

Block-My brother, though a brilliant tactician, is also reckless, as rarely did I ever see him fight with a shield, only his blades.

Speech-Ah Mesamuine, always the charismatic one. He could get a Dremora to leave a Daedric Prince, with enough time and charm.

    Early Equipment:

    • Blades Armor

    • Blades Boots

    • Blades Gauntlets

    • Orcish Helmet

    • Imperial Bow

    • Skyforge Steel Sword x2

    • Orcish Battleaxe

    • Skyforge Steel Greatsword

    • Dragonbane

    Late Equipment:

Masque of Clavicus Vile-During the early years of his role as a commander, my brother sought out the Prince, Clavicu Vile, wishing for power and prestige.

Omamari of Hachiman-A mystic amulet, sacred and blessed by our god of war Hachiman, who the mainlanders refer to as Ebonarm.

Kusari of Toromomune-This ancient armor, blackened by dragonfire, was worn by the founder of our clan, Inoi Toromomune.

Kote of Mushaishi-These spellforged gauntlets belonged to a wandering swordsman my brother bested in an honorable duel.

Enjin of Valor-A “lucky charm” of sorts for the Damune Clan, this ring has seen many men and women of the Clan victorious in battle.

Ousibuyunlu-”Cloud Walkers” in Cyrodillic, these boots were given to our clan by a famed Tang Mo smith generations ago, whoever wears them gains speed and endurance.

Kusanagi-This ancestral blade was forged by our great-grandfather’s great-grandfather, on orders of the Lord Susanoo, to slay a vile eight headed wyrm that had been terrorizing his village for months. He used this blade, and....

Totsuka-Totsuka. Crafted by the sun godess Amaterasu, this holy blade was used to seal the stumps of each of the dragon’s heads.

Orichalc-This orichalcum bow was gifted to my family by Gaiden Shinji’s son, as a boon for their aid in the Siege of Orsinium, and for moving his father’s body from the battlefield.

Ama-No-Saka-Hoko-The spear was planted in the ground of our new homeland by the son of Hachiman, Ninigi Mokoto, as a sign of his protection. He stated, that only a worthy warrior could unroot the spear.

Naginata of Amaterasu-"A holy relic of Amaterasu. When our great-grandmother, a devoted warrior-priestess of Amaterasu was surrounded by foes, this blessed Naginata appeared in her hands, and she felled her enemies like a farmer threshes wheat. This weapon has passed down through our family for generations."

An example of the early set of the Dragon of Akavir

    • While you will commit crimes, you are not a bad person at heart. You temper benevolence with evil, and evil with benevolence.

    • If there is a battle nearby, do not run. Engage those you consider not worthy, cut them down, and earn merit as a warrior.

    • Every day you must train, whether it be on training dummies or on real enemies, for as one of the mentors of the Dragon stated “Without constant practice, the officers will be nervous and undecided when mustering for battle; without constant practice, the general will be wavering and irresolute when the crisis is at hand.”

    • If you are unable to persuade, intimidate, or bribe someone, brawl them.

    • As said before, fire arrows into the backs of followers you feel are not acting to your standards, like they aren’t killing more enemies, or taking too long to slay one, for instance.

    cooltext1935799354.png

Two become Six-Wielding twin blades, dipped in venom, the Dragon slashes at such speeds, his dual blades seem to multiply.

    (2x Blades Swords+Whirlwind Cloak+Dual Flurry+Dual Savagery+Dragon Aspect+Elemental Fury)

Call to Valor-Rousing his forces, the Dragon charges forward, his army slicing through his foes, death before dishonor. (Rally+Battle Fury+Charge on horseback+Poisoned weapon)

Aside from Amazing Follower Tweaks and Unlimited Followers, some other mods I used were....

Blades Samurai Armor and Kimonos-Adds different color variations of Blades Armor in Skyrim, as well as several kimonos.

Samurai Genji Armor-Adds very authentic looking Samurai Armor, I chose to wear the darker colored one.

AmidianBorn Blades Armor-A very well done retexture of Blades Armor that I feel suits this build.

Cloaks of Skyrim-As someone who has wanted capes and cloaks in Skyrim, this is the mod that allowed me to get the cape shown in the screenshot, Imperial Gold which, since as far as I know no Akaviri/Blades Cloak exists, is a good substitute.

A thank you to Golden Fool for the awesome Perk and Equipment Spreads, as well as Casey for inspiring me to do this. For those of you who couldn't tell, this character was based on one of the most badass samurai, Date Masamune, who allowed Christians to practice, and saved a priest, at a time when it was outlawed by the Tokugawa Shogunate, had an English-style ship built, fought with one-eye, played a pivotal role in Tokugawa Ieyasu’s early days, and waited for the right oppertunity to attack, pissing off the second “great unifier” of Japan, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and when he was to be executed, showed up in his finest clothes and no fear. Hideyoshi reconsidered, and gave him land instead. Badass.

Thanks Caesar, it was the only way to get Date's signature black armor. Sadly, no gold bits.

Awwww YEAH!!! Love me my samurais :D

I like this: a straight-forward, no-nonsense combat build that gives you just about every option available to a melee fighter. The inclusion of the Speech tree is a pleasant surprise and is insanely helpful from a mechanics stance, but also totally makes sense on an RP level as well. The privilege and prestige he enjoys as a leader is perfectly reflected in the Speech perks.

As always, good job on this!

Thanks Shin, it took me five playthroughs (thank you Console Commands) and it was fun throughout them all. I wanted to give options to the player, and I love riding into battle, the head of an army. It was awesome

I have to admit I have never been into a China or Japan history or combat, neither I have interested myself in Akaviri stuff but....this got my attention. Maybe I should take a look on these things after all.

+1 Chris. I really like this one.
