‘I cannot believe it. All my power is gone. It’s all… gone. Totally disappeared.’

    ------------------------------------------

Lying on the ground, the Dark Lord felt the very pain inside his head. Slowly did he stand up. The duel between him and the College’s Archmage – Savos Aren – and his fellow College teacher has now left him powerless…. His eyes caught a fox running through the trees. ‘It is so annoying’, he thought. As the moment the fox stopped and gazed around, the wizard shouted:

    ‘FIREBALL!’

…There was no fireball fired from his finger but only a small flame, too weak to even light up a torch. His brain was going to explode as electric surged inside his head. He helplessly watched the scared fox run away from him as stream of thoughts flew in his head…

‘My devoted followers are killed. Aren thought he had killed me, but he had not. As long as the Amulet is still in this world, I can’t die.

I shall have my revenge. As I still have the only one thing that matters most for every mage. Immortality… And knowledge of the arts.

Soon I will regain my power and become the greatest mage Tamriel has ever witnessed. A wizard whose power would make Mannimarco himself look like an apprentice. Magic is the true power and it will dominate this world with my lead.

But at first, I need THAT amulet to regain my strength.’

He closed his mind and whispered…

    ‘Flame’

He still suffered from the headache; however, this time he could create a small flame. Overjoyed by the little accomplishment, he burned the poor small juniper tree to ashes.

Suddenly, he heard shouting from a nearby place. ‘Surrender, Ulfric! You are badly outnumbered. Resistance will only lead to the deaths of your men.’

After that, his eyes blacked out as he fell to the ground.

A young Imperial soldier shouted: ‘Another one here, Legate!’

The Dark Lord is definitely my favorite and most interesting build I have ever played. The center of this build is about creating an arrogant, manipulative, power-lusting mage who specializes in destructive and dark magic to terrorize the land of Skyrim. This build, as many of you would have guest, is inspired by two figures, one is Mannimarco (from the King of Worms build by Raidriar) and one is Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter series. This build is a Role-Playing only as I made up 99% of everything.

(This build contains Dawnguard and Dragonborn spoilers so please think before you read it)

Race: Breton, the Dark Lord is a half-man half-mer who has an unbelievable talent of magic even when compared to the Altmer.

Standing Stone: First take the Mage to level skills quickly. When you reach level 15, there are several options. The Ritual is very useful during the Civil War questline and the Shadow Stone provides a creative way of entering and disappearing from combats. The Lady is not a bad option since it counters the negative effects of the Necromancer’s Amulet, however not recommended as the Shadow or the Ritual prove much more useful.

Shout: Become Ethereal, Soul Tear (Avada Kedavra!), SLOW TIME, Whirlwind Sprint, Storm Call, Fire and Frost Breath.

Stats: Magicka until level 30 or until you feel comfortable to cast spells, then all into health, no stamina as we only need it to sprint. Personally, I never invested in health. This character is meant to be a glass cannon, you will die even if they poke you with a stick.

Apparel: Archmage’s Robe (perfect for a magic user, but I used the Cultist Robe just because the Archmage’s Robe is way too ugly to my taste), Morokei, Ring of the Erudite, Shrouded Boots (Jester’s Boots), Necromancer Amulet.

    Major skills: Destruction, Conjuration, Illusion

    Minor skills: Alteration, Restoration

    PERKS SPREAD + SKILLS ANALYZING

    Level 15: http://skyrimcalculator.com/376497

    Level 30: http://skyrimcalculator.com/376498

    Level 49: http://skyrimcalculator.com/376640

Destruction: Core skills, Master Destruction is taken to reflect the Dark Lord's capabilities to raze everything to the ground. Shock spells are favored alongside with Fire spells.

Illusion: The Dark Lord likes to mess with other people’s mind. Fear and Frenzy define this ability and Invisibility provides escape or open combat option. Although he is known to be ruthless and merciless, the Dark Lord’s leadership skills are unequal, shown by Call to Arms and Rally spells.

Conjuration: Undead. ‘He killed enough people to make an army of them.’ (Albus Dumbledore when referring to Voldemort). Conjuration reflects your dark magic, however, unlike many other builds, atronach perks will also be taken as the Dark Lord is known to manipulate every element to aid him in combat.

Alteration: Paralysis and Detect Life/Dead. You can choose to take Mage Armor for defensive ability, but in my opinion, playing a truly unamored wizard is much more fun.

Restoration: He fears only one thing. Death itself. Immortality is what he seeks. Avoid Death and Necromage are taken to replicate his phobia. Wards are used sparingly as they cost lots of magicka.

I feel this build is complete at level 49. After this it all depends on you whether to invest more in Illusion or put perks in the Speech tree to get Intimidation. Intimidation would suit a manipulative and feared wizard leader more in my opinion.

    QUESTS

The Dark Lord used to be a feared wizard who was once famous in the College of Winterhold due to his secret dark magic experiments on his fellow ‘friends’. Savos Aren saw the dark side in him and decided to banish him forever from the College.

After a long time chasing the Dark Lord, a fight emerged between the two sides near the forest of Falkreath. One sought power, one believed that magic should be kept in control. Savos Aren, alongside with Faralda, Phinis Gestor, Mirabelle Ervine, Drevis Neloren and Tolfdir, used all their power to strike down the Dark Lord. At the end of the fight when everyone thought it had ended, an injured mages used all of his power left to cast Fire Storm as another tried to carry the Dark Lord to another place. He was killed near Darkwater Crossing. The Dark Lord, using unknown magic, bypassed both the Detect Life and Dead spells by the College mages. This cost him dearly as all his power vanished. Everyone thought he was dead.

    He’s still alive.

    He has a new plan.

But first, he needs a new identity.

(Follow these quests to replicate the Dark Lord’s path to regain power and control over Skyrim)

When you have obtained 1000 septims, go to the face sculpter and change your appearance

Blood on the Ice: Crucial to role play. Never use any spells other than Flame and Healing until you have obtained the Amulet. The Lord’s soul is bound to the Amulet and only with its power can he become a master of the arcane as he once was.

Main Quest: After the incident of Helgen, the Lord discovered the fact about his being Dragonborn and happily embraced its power. ‘Bane of the Dragons’, ‘Slayer of Alduin’, Skyrim will bow before the new Dovahkiin.

Dragonborn: ‘None shall be better than me, even if it is the First Dragonborn. Hermaeus Mora is a fool, I was never his servant. It is just what needs to be done to get access to the knowledge to kill Miraak and become the best mage ever in history. ’ Doing the Oghma Infinium quest to gain knowledge from Mora as well.

Dawnguard (Volkihar): ‘I need these monsters at my side to terrorize Skyrim. Not their stupid leader, I am the one who would bring them glory.’ (Obtain the Ring of the Erudite to further boost your magic abilities)

College of Winterhold: ‘I swore to take revenge on Aren and I will. I could see in the eyes of the Thalmor agent the same thing as me. Power and knowledge. He could be used, but if he opposes me, it shall be his death.’ Gaining the trust of Aren and waiting for the chance to kill him is the plan. However, there is always a surprising turn at the end…

Dark Brotherhood and Civil War (Imperial): ‘Aren is dead, no one could have stopped me now. I found out these lowlife assassins’ plan on killing the Emperor… Without the lead of the Empire, Skyrim will surely fall to the strength of the brutish Nords who disdain magic. I cannot let that happen. I shall assure the death of Ulfric Stormcloak. The land would surely fall to chaos and it’s going to be me who unite Skyrim with the might of magic.’ Make sure you spread the two questlines evenly so that you can instantly kill Ulfric after the assassination on the Emperor.

    GAMEPLAY

You are a proud and cocky wizard who despises everyone who doesn’t know how to use magic. A guard says something sarcastic about you? Murder him. A citizen mocks you? Launch a fireball at his face. Just make sure everyone sees that. You will not do simple errands as you have the pride of a once powerful Dark Lord.

You despise half-bloods and kill them whenever you see them. This means RIP Madanach and the Forsworn. Also you hate everyone who don't know how to use magic (Saying 'bye-bye' to the crazy 'Skyrim is for the Nords' bandits)

In combat, make sure everyone knows about your presence in the battlefield. Enter combat with Armor spells and a Dead Thrall (or if not, summon a Frost Atronach) and launch everything you have at the enemy. Cast Fear to one guy to eliminate a threat and watch your followers (buffed with Rally and Call to Arms) vanquish the enemies while you take care of the big guy. If you choose not to use Armor spells like me, scout the area carefully and constantly moving through the battlefield as a stray arrow would definitely kill you. Against chargers, paralyze them and slowly torture them with the Wall spells (You should have Frost Cloak too). Against archers, hide behind your Atronach and Follower. Against mage, no problem if you have the Atronach Stone, or else use Wards (be careful not to run out of Magicka) and use the element that matches their weakness. Against Dragons, summon a Storm Atronach and using Slow Time to your advantage.

Followers can only be magic users, this include J’zargo, Marcurio or Belrand, etc. I never used followers as I got the feeling that they slow me down. Do not care about them in a fight, you are a heartless wizard. If you do not like them or they were talking a lot, kill them.

Do not purchase training. I know this is hard because Restoration takes forever to level up but the Dark Lord looks down to everyone.

    SPECIAL MOVES

Crucify: The Dark Lord appears from nowhere and strikes his enemy down, slowly tortures them. Useful for single foe.

    Invisibility + Paralysis + Wall of Flames/Storms.

Unquestioned Obedience: ‘You shall perform any biddings of mine… In this life or the next’.

    Fear + Firebolts + Paralysis + Firebolts + Dead Thralls/Reanimate Corpse + Rally + Call to Arms

    Sudden Death: His trademark move.

    Invisibility + Soul Tear

Master of Dueling: The Dark Lord is known for his lightning reflexes, able to negate every spells and strike down every single person who dares to step up and challenge him.

Slow Time + (Atronach Stone) + Wards + Fireballs/Lightning Bolt

Wrath of the Dark Lord: Using his extensive knowledge of destructive magic, the Dark Lord calls forth the force of thunder to punish anyone who stand in his path. Extremely useful and satisfying when using against multiple foes or even in a Hold (I once tested this in Whiterun, cannot say how awesome this is)

Storm Call+ Lightning Storm + Wall of Storms

    FINAL WORDS

Special thanks to Bethesda and J.K.Rowling for the creation of an amazing game and a badass villains.

I do not own any of the pictures used in this builds.

Thanks everyone for reading through this. English is not my first language so please correct me if I was wrong somewhere. Criticism is welcome as this is my first build.

I'm not a fan of builds that are heavily inspired by non-skyrim related characters. But this is great, I really like the unique way you've taken this build and really seemed to change Voldemort into a Skyrim character. The way of using the Necromancers amulet was very interesting and I like the quests you chose and how you included justification for each of them. There are a few things you should work on include narrowing down the pictures (probably add a few Skyrim pics in place of some of the others) because ate the moment it seems really heavily populated by the pictures which detracts from the build a little. Also I would recommend adding a picture right before you move onto Quests so that it breaks up the text there. You have rather large gaps in your text in the gameplay section at the very start of each new paragraph which are really noticeable especially when everything else is so even and I would recommend changing that quickly. And that's it I think (probably some stuff I missed) overall it's a very nice build and I can see a lot of effort went into it so +1 from me and welcome to the blog.
