It's player choice, really. I'm just not a fan of Enchanting. I'd suggest that the Seraphim doesn't really need more than one crafting skill, so if you already have Enchanting up to Extra Effect, you can probably sell all the alchemical ingredients.

Just be sure to select your enchantments carefully; be aware that more than three pieces of spell cost reduction is overkill. Instead, look into damage, health and stamina pieces. Magicka regen if you're not a fan of the stunted regeneration.

I really want to give this build a whirl. Though I have a worry, if I lose the ultimate atronach is it easy to get back at later levels?

I don't think it should be an issue - you just have to switch off the stone, then re-acquire some potions and re-engage the stone. I've def done it before...can be a bit of a hunt to find the right potion combo, but actually should be easier at higher levels if I'm not mistaken.

Ah, I assumed when you get to a higher level that the lower ones would just dissapear entirely, my mistake, thanks motty! This is the type of angle I like to play the Dragonborn, all holy and stuff, plus my favourite race is Imperial.

It's not my area of expertise, so dont quote me. But I love the ultimate atronach and really don't remember having much trouble getting or keeping it. One other tip though is when you find the right potions, buy them and just store extras...just in case.

Hi Mason, I really think this build is creative and oh so much fun, but I did want to ask, why invest in alteration over something that fits the pacifism idea like illusion? I'm just curious so I can better play this character.

I don't know how active Mason is anymore, though I'd hazard to say not very. Not sure how good of a stand-in I am (I'd also hazard to say not very) but I hope I can be of at least some small help to you.

Firstly, the build is hardly pacifistic. Mason's Seraphim is an avenging angel of purifying fire - lots of smiting - and Illusion's pseudo-pacifism doesn't really offer much to the smiting playthough. I suggest you take a second look at the "Angels or Demons" section of the build, but I quote: "Seraphim are nearly always depicted as warrior angels, but if one looks deeper into their mythology their origins are actually much darker, almost the opposite in fact. The Hebrew word seraph means quite literally ‘to burn’..."

It looks to me as though Alteration serves two major purposes in this build. To start, use of Alteration's Flesh spells augments the Seraphim's armor rating, which is essential as she's wearing Light Armor. The Mage armor spells bolster her armor rating and allow her to take hits more comfortably, especially in tandem with boosted Wards. Secondly, selection of the Atronach perk (a natural 30% Absorption effect) compliments the Seraphim's natural 78% magicka absorption from the boosted Atronach Stone, granting her spell immunity and total domination over all caster-class foes.

To sum, Alteration provides a host of defensive effects that allow the Seraphim to play more recklessly in combat, which in turn helps to convey the avenging, smiting holy angel feel of the build.

Ok, thanks for the clarification.  He just mentioned a lot about the "pacification" aspect of combat, so I thought it might apply.  But I do enjoy this style very much.  The only thing that feels out of place is alchemy, but that's my own issue with the fact that I freaking hate it.  It's a temporary form of enchanting, and takes so freaking long to get anything useful out of it.  It's never really augmented my playstyle all that much (except invisibility potions.  Those are good.)  Thanks for your help my friend.
