Don't need no enchants here sir. Alchemy should be able to give you all the buffs you need. Remember to make some fortify smithing potions to improve the Blades gear though!

Hey, i just had a thought. This actually qualifies for the ressurection event, you being Martin Septim and all. And I know the event was already on when you posted this.

"At high levels with Smithing your one-handed weapons will deal slightly more damage than the Ebony Blade, but miss out on the absorb effect." Seems a bit superfluous to have all three. I understand, mechanically, why you use alchemy but why from an RP standpoint?

I did think about waiting until the end of March to post it for the event (given that entries posted before then would be 'instantly deleted') but I had already done all but the video when the 'contest' was posted. Thought I might as well just post it when I did considering it was finished and even if I did enter this event it'd just get showered in likes because it had my name on it

Well, if its good, I dont see why not (which it is.) Yeah. Its like facebook in here. :-D As for me, I only like build that I'm actually going to play. And I only did it once, on Mason's AA. I enjoy reading all of the builds here though. Or sometimes if I like the playstyle, I like them as well.

I got that. Still doesn't explain alchemy.

Smithing is barely leveled at all, just grabbing the Steel Smithing perk to improve Blades Swords and using potions to buff up the Smithing skill when improving. The Ebony Blade's total damage after the absorb is slightly less than the (unenchanted) Blades Sword as I mentioned, making your Blades Sword the go-to weapon for normal fighting and the Ebony Blade extremely useful for the sweep perk in group fights and to regain health given there's no spellcasting and we don't want to be spamming potions.

Since in his past life Martin would have trained as a priest he would have most likely received some basic instruction for potion-making. Plus he was a capable mage, and seemed quite intelligent. Alchemy seemed like a natural choice for that background on top of someone wanting to make use of their mind in a more warrior-centric style.
