After seeing the build contest post, SKane and Orange Mask teamed up to try their hands at a Mythic Dawn agent. The urge to create an Agent who could truly emulate his master by standing toe-to-toe with the toughest enemies in Skyrim, the awesomeness of dual-wielding, and the under-used bound sword combine to create a powerful, lore-based, and exciting build. Orange Mask and SKane are proud to present:

    The Hand of Dagon

An outcast of society, The Hand found solace in the teachings of Mehrunes Dagon. After years of studying the Prince of Destruction and his cult, the Mythic Dawn, he was ready to venture out and join them. After rigorously training his mind and body to serve his Lord, the Hand was welcomed into what remained of the Mythic Dawn. Unfortunately, his most recent mission went awry and he was taken as a prisoner in Skyrim. Now in a new land, he will personally pursue the favor of his Daedric lord.

The Hand discovers the shrine of Mehrunes Dagon, beginning

his worship to the Prince of Destruction

This build came about from the desire to make an awesome Mythic Dawn agent who didn't run around in a nightgown. After doing some research into Dagon's cult, we discovered that there is actually a well-described hierarchy in the Mythic Dawn. The specialty of many agents is in-your-face, heavily armored, chaotic combat; a sight that the Prince of Destruction would surely approve of.

The Hand of Dagon is a Mythic Dawn cultist who seeks to truly embody his lord. He charges into battle wearing an armor crafted from the hearts of fallen daedra and cloaked in flame; armed to the teeth with destructive magic, and wielding a sword summoned from Oblivion in one hand the artifact of his master in the other. Through study of the Conjuration school, he can not only make good use of his bound weapons but also summon a daedroth to aid him in combat.

Race: Pretty much any, though we recommend either an Orc or a Nord

Stone: Warrior, then switch to the Steed around level 20

Major Skills: Heavy Armor, Smithing, One-Handed, Destruction

Minor Skills: Enchanting, Sneak, Conjuration, Restoration

    Weaponry: Mehrune's Razor, Bound Sword

Apparel: Daedric Armor with a chosen dragon priest mask

Essential Quests: The Black Star, Unfathomable Depths, Pieces of the Past, The Civil War

Shouts: We found that the most effective shouts with this build are Slow Time and Marked for Death. Unfortunately, Elemental Fury doesn’t work with bound weapons.

Destruction: Needing a ranged attack and also wanting to stick with the theme of a Mythic Dawn agent, this was an easy skill choice. After all, Mehrunes Dagon is the Daedric Prince of Destruction. For perks, we just went up to Adept, and took the fire specialization perks.

One-Handed: We wanted to cause as much damage as possible, so we chose One-Handed for dual wielding specialization and also took 5/5 Armsman to improve damage with the bound sword.

Smithing: Daedric armor seemed like a clear choice, plus we roleplayed that he had proven himself to be Dagon’s truest champion by creating an armor crafted from the hearts of the daedra he had beaten on his way to the top. Daedric smithing also opens up opportunities to double the improvement of dragon priest masks. Key perks are Arcane Blacksmith and up to Daedric Smithing.

Sneak: We also wanted this character to be able to assassinate opponents when a direct assault wasn’t needed. Key perks are just muffled movement and backstab.

Enchanting: While two crafting skills can be tiresome, Enchanting provides an important to boost One-Handed damage via “Fortify One-Handed”, increase survivability, and also because we wanted our character to be the ultimate battlemage. It is not a totally necessary skill if you don’t want to play all the way up to level 50. Key perks are just Enchanter 5/5 and Insightful Enchanter.

Restoration: Being a dual wielder, you will need some way to heal yourself. Using restoration allows you to continue combat despite sustaining serious wounds, carrying on your master’s wishes of destruction and chaos.

Heavy Armor: To improve the defenses of a dual wielder and also because we finally found a character to justify using Daedric armor with. Key perks are Juggernaut 5/5 and up the right side of the tree, stopping after “Tower of Strength”.

Conjuration: You will be fighting with a bound sword in your main hand, so Mystic Binding is a must-have. We also wanted to be able to summon a daedra to satisfy both roleplay and improved power in-game, so you should take perks up to Expert Conjuration. We didn’t take any perks left of Mystic Binding.

Dual wielding and destruction maximize this guy's offense, few enemies will be able to bear the onslaught of far-ranged fire spells being launched and followed up by a huge, flaming cultist running at them swinging two weapons to further optimize his DPS. Defense is not an issue, it is covered by your high level and fully smithed Daedric armor combined with perks from the Heavy Armor tree.

We also decided to use Dragon Priest masks, for two reasons: First they aesthetically match the masks worn by Mythic Dawn warriors and look pretty darn good with daedric armor. Second, the Hand wears them, like the rest of his armor, as a trophy of the tough enemies he has defeated. He also feels compelled to kill the dragons and their pesky priests because they ruled Skyrim with an iron fist, leaving no room for chaos or revolution from Mehrunes Dagon. You can choose to use pretty much any of the heavy-armor masks, though it is fun to go on a quest to kill all of them and acquire Konahriik.

When making our character, weapon choice was an easy decision. To this guy, receiving Mehrune's Razor is the highest honor, so he will naturally use it in his off-hand. In his main hand, we chose the bound sword. In terms of roleplay, we really liked that he was a Mythic Dawn cultist who used a sword summoned from Oblivion. Before testing this character, we weren’t sure if bound swords would be powerful enough to support this character all the way to level 50. The results surprised us, and our love of the powerful bound sword has only grown over time. Typically, a smithing character would make better use of an improvable weapon, but by combining Mystic Binding, 5/5 Armsman, and enchanting your gear with Fortify One-Handed, your bound sword should be doing more than enough damage to tear through your foes.

Combining all of the factors in this build will make you a force to be reckoned with, and the weakness implemented from a lack of blocking is refreshing and allows for a more unique style of combat. This build has been a pleasure to create, and with the lore meshing so well with combat style it is a blast to play, too.

The Mythic Dawn may be in pieces, but like our lord's

    razor, we shall return

I don't want to bestow too much praise upon any of my competitors' builds here lol, but I do think Mr. Dagon would be proud, guys!

I like your decision to use dragon priest masks to substitute the conjured headgear of the Oblivion agents. It looks much better than, say for instance, a guard helmet. ;)

Lol shots fired! No, that's totally cool that you'd rather look like a metal fish, though. No hard feelings. At least Dragon Priest Masks are rare too. I NEVER see builds using those!

Hahaha! Just teasin' Snakes! Your build was pretty impressive, really. Maybe a little pushed but at least you are excited about it. Your enthusiam is definitely testament to your build's play through value. :)

Shots fired here, mate! But really, this is the first build I've felt comfortable roleplay-wise using a dragon priest mask. Though I do think it's really awesome that you found a way to implement the guard helmet into a build, too
