Character Build: The Progenitor

Dukaan grants 50% resistance, not 25%.

Not intentional.  I think I copied the code directly from the Undying write-up, but I may have tweaked the text-shadow fuzzing magnitude, or maybe changed the color slightly.  For the subheadings on the Undying, I didn't use a text border, which may have made them "pop out" a bit more (but also makes them a bit harder to read).  I'll look into it.

Right you are.  Can't believe I made such a silly mistake, thanks for catching it Matt.

vary nice build, though i didn't quite understand the Ahzidal's Ring of Arcana thing or glitch or what it is

    + 1 from me

Yeah, it is a glitch/exploit. Basically, the quest "Ill Met by Moonlight" includes a scripted event where the Cursed Ring of Hircine is forcibly equipped. After this happens, you can go to equip the Ring of Arcana from your inventory like you normally would. The equipping sound will be played, and the ring's active effects will be applied (you should see a message on your HUD saying the spells Ignite and Freeze have been added). However, the Cursed Ring will remain equipped; as part of the quest, it cannot be removed until you've transformed and/or completed the quest.

When you do complete the quest and remove the Cursed Ring, you'll find that you can de-equip it and equip the Ring of Namira in its place. The effect from Ahzidal's Ring of Arcana will remain active, even though the ring itself will not display as equipped. Thus, you gain the benefits of both rings simultaneously.

    Great built, great context!

Pretty awesome build. I would've loved to see more elaboration on the Progenitor concept though. Perhaps he's the last person to emigrate from Atmora?

I do see one problem though; according to UESP, the Stormcloak Officer Boots, despite being light armor, are effected by heavy armor skill and perks, which kinda throws a wrench into your perk layout for the light armor tree as it prevents the set bonus perks from activating. There are probably fixes on the PC but as far as I'm aware no official patch to date has addressed the issue.

I'm pretty sure that was fixed in patch 1.9. There was a line in the patch notes that stated, "Fixed issues with Custom Fit perk not working properly with certain pieces of armor." It's been a while, but I'm fairly certain that I specifically tested this point. Can't recall for certain though.

I do appreciate the point about elaborating/expanding a bit more. This is probably my shortest build on the site. No perk spread image, no special moves, no roleplay information, and pretty concise with the gameplay. I felt like a lot of it kind of speaks for itself, but I'll keep that in mind if I ever get some time to revisit this build.

Checked UESP and it seems you're right; it was fixed in the last patch. I did a quick test myself too. Thanks for letting me know; I meant for one of my characters to use the boots but decided against it due to the glitch.

I think I should've been more clear on my second point. This build is fairly concise, but I think that works well, because as you said, it speaks for itself. Perk spread images and special moves would've been nice, but what I'd really be interested in seeing is more development of the roleplay concept behind the Progenitor. Like, going back to my example, he could be the last Atmoran, having survived the freezing via his uncanny frost resistance (which is also reflected in gameplay), but for whatever reason, decides to travel to Solstheim/Skyrim and live with the Skaal.

Nice build from you (as well as your other builds), liked it.

I'd recommend the quest Book of love to get Agent of Mara for +15 magic resist. It's a very easy quest, I do it with all of my characters

Do you know exactly the level cap for the wolf's howl of terror? And how the totem and the perk modifies it?
