To me, this build does for vampires what Constantine's Wolf does for lycanthropes (which is to say a lot of good). It is probably the best PURE vampire build I've seen. I stress "pure" because there are some incredible, incredible vampire builds on this site like Mason's Volkihar and Henson's Khulari, but this is the one that plays most like you'd expect some arrogant 1,000 year old vampire douchelord to, and I love that about it. And because of that, I'd also say this sits right up there among those other builds as one of the best this site has to offer. Easy +1 for me and I can't believe I hadn't come across this sooner! Better late than never! :)

Thanks man! Being a "pure vampire" is the heart of the build. That is what I really why I had the most fun in this build, and why I felt so excited writing and posting it. There is just something that feels right. Skyrim is even perfect for playing as a classic vamp, so much of the content is geared towards it. From the Volkihar, to the thane quests, and even to assassinating other political figures "for" the dark brotherhood (name a proper politician who doesn't own a personal organization of ruthless killers?), so many things fit like a puzzle.

"but this is the one that plays most like you'd expect some arrogant 1,000 year old vampire douchelord to" Heh heh that one made me laugh. But on that topic that was another reason why I liked playing it so much. With roleplay on some builds it does not always feel always in sync with the combat. However when I was playing this guy I really felt like I was a "1,000 year old vampire douchelord" 100% of the time, and that made it very enjoyable.

I am glad you like it and feel the same way as I do.

    I feel a death-match brewing.

Well done, I don't like builds often, but this is just so highly polished. Mechanically, sure, its just a pure mage, but what I love is how well done the Vampire flavor is. Even if your slinging spells, you feel like your playing a Vampire Count, not some wizard -- not all builds can do that.

Also, thank you for using poison rune. Its epic; no else seems to realize the coolness.

    +1

*Internet high 5 for poison rune*

I am glad you picked up on the feel. That is one of the things that made it really play and feel differently in my mind!

I couldn't help it... I had too! (We all know that you are a Jacob fan Ben).

Did some testing with the poison rune today. I would say at higher difficulties, as the primary means of damage, it is not very viable. But as a layer of damage, it works really well. I'm running a similar set up with illusion, Conjuration, and the poison rune, and I will say the stacking really adds up. Having +10 poison runes eating away at a bandit chief as he's fighting his own friends/cowering in fear is VERY effective.
