I'm having a ton of fun with this character, but I seem to die rather easily even with Dragonhide active. Is there anything I can do to fix that?

Definitely miss the Shield enchantments from Oblivion :P.

Don't get hit... That's what all the conjuration/illusion is for...

In honesty Disciple this character has a massively high armor rating without dragonhide, if your dying you're doing something very wrong...

This build is hands down, the most fun I've playing Skyrim since it came out. As fate would have it I was playing an Altmer Pure Mage focusing purely on the five magic skills... and when I read this I just had to convert him to this playstyle. I never would have thought that the One Handed skill could still be so lethal even without a single perk being put into it. The enchants really pack a massive punch and the fact that it's on a cool-as-can be silver sword just makes it 10x better.

I joined just to heap praise. The bad-assery and utility of this build is off the charts and has made me love the game all over again.

I should not read thi, every good build I see on this site makes me feel as if my actual caracter is just shit and leads to the decision that I´ll play this one

Thanks Zaan, nice of you to come on to comment...

Ha, I remember getting silver sword fever back when I first chose one for another character. Really cool weapon...

    Glad you liked the build!

With Dragonborn, I fully recommend trying out a silver sword with a Absorb Health + Chaos Damage. This does a massive chunk of damage per hit and bypasses every resistance in the game as you have a 50% chance with each swipe to hit them with damage from all elements.

    I friggin love this build.

never used the necromage perk, can somebody explain how it works exactly and if it matters if I become a vamp and thea choosing necromage or if it only works when you first choose the necromage perk ???

You can pick it up at any time, doesn't seem to matter what order you do it...

Just make sure to use a restoration trainer in your playthrough to reduce the grind...
