Hahaha! Just noticed something at the storm salamander. Storm cloak :-P it was not important, just wanted to point that out! :-)

Yeah keep meaning to correct that, should be lightning cloak but I was enjoying the flow!

Just got orchish armor and an bulky orchish "riot" shield. i followed your advice about the 20% magicka regeneration+ an amulet of akatosh with 25% regeneration and it's like an fire-dance when i run around with cloak, atronach and firebolts. Awesome! One of my best playtroughs! also...i have noticed the problem with spellcasters...the hard way! ;-)

What do you think of putting three perks into illusion to get aspect of terror and buff fire damage?

I really like this build Mason and want to try it as a DiD character on expert though. I just have one question, how important is Alchemy in the beginning levels? Did you find the need to perk alchemy out early or later?

That would be very strong, definitely an option!

You could use conjuration for just the flame atronachs and go heavy into illusion.

The perk spread for this character is very adaptable. You basically just take the combat skills block/heavy armor/smithing (18 perks), to form your turtle defense.

After that everything gets very creative, I chose to abuse the destruction tree but you could go bonkers and decide to make a stealth-turtle with some illusion thrown in, the combination of block runner and sneak has the makings of an incredibly powerful little build in there somewhere.

Imagine turtling along, blending in silent rolls while on fire with aspect of terror, emerging from your shell to deliver a nasty sneak attack. All very good fun!

Alchemy is mostly essential for healing and blocking potions. A little early push into it is good for survival and making some money for destruction training.

If your using my perk spread you need to get good at poisoning for dragons and mages. Once frost dragons start appearing you need to be very good at either alchemy or conjuration, neither skill should be neglected for long. I power leveled conjuration from 89 - 100 with the soul trap spell in the end for twin souls, dragons have high HP and there are only so many hours in the day.

Umm how effective would this build be without alchemy( I can only play so many hours lately, so I'm a little impatient lately)?

Would this be a useful shield?

(fully charged shield + fire breath sounds awesome)
