I've never made a mage build before, and this one really raises the roof!  I love it!  And it's really fun to play.

Im playing this build now. i am level 11 and just love it! Only one thing...do u think i should join the Vampires now or wait for some levels? I LOVE to send undead minions to hunt down the scared bandits! :-D

Oooooh! Deserves a bumpy and a likey!

I think you caught on at the end of that helpdesk conversation regarding fear last week Henson, I'm glad you didn't get put off and posted your version of the build because this is really neat. Illustrations are very well chosen.

It requires some patience during the early days but once your up and running this build is an absolute blast! Sounds like some of the Dawnguard content completes the package perfectly. I'll be replaying this build when Bethesda finally let me have it! +1

Now that is a good build.

Trying this character now, level 8 and the beginning you're spread really thin in terms of magicka( not helped by my tv cutting of at the bottom so I can't see how much I have) and perks. But it's really fun :)

This is exactly the necromancer build I was looking for. Starting this as soon as I get home

This looks freakin' awesome! I got into Skyrim + Dawnguard only recently and I'm trying to find a buld that I will enjoy, is it possible to switch the fire spells with ice so it would look more like a cold, vampiric lich?

I too equate necromancy more with the Frost line of spells than Fire, but in this case it would seriously diminish the build's value to swap out the fire spells for their ice variants. A huge part of this build's success comes from the synergy between fire spells causing enemies to flee and Illusion spells, in turn, boosting fire damage (both of which tying perfectly into the theme of creating fear). So yeah, I prefer Ice spells myself in general, but there's honestly no missing them at all when you've got enemies running for their lives, on fire, their undead former comrades in hot pursuit.
