This is pretty much exactly how I play. I still wear the Nightengale all the time (armor at 462). Mason asked me to do a strictly Nightengale build which I plan to do. Just need to do some backstory. But I deffinatly always "soften" them up with arrows, stalker-style.

I was curious, you're using steel arrows. Any reason why? Your character seems pretty high leveled and would think you'd use something a little more "piercing". ha!

I use steel arrows because well, I use ALOT of arrows. I can pickpocket pretty much an infinite supply of Steel arrows from Guards and other types aren't exactly in common supply. Steel does more than enough damage and keep in mind that footage was shot on Expert.

ehh...I don't know about that. haha!! I always try and use the best arrow possible. It's funny, I noticed out of all the arrows, the glass arrow seems to be the strongest even though it's like at 16-18(?) Don't know what it is. Same with the Orcish and Elven(He doesn't like Dwemer arrows at all!). Of course with a follower I always give her a Daedic arrow so I can collect them(save them mostly for bosses). I have alot of coin now, so I just buy Ebony any chance I get. My Dunmer is a money slut now. Money is not an issue with him. He sells steel now. I've come to the conclusion that the Forsworn ALWAYS poison their arrows! Their pussy arrows always take damage on me even though they're at 10 and with just a long bow! They piss me off sometimes. haha!!

Anyway, I'm ranting about arrows. I should forum this and see if people are piticular on there choice of arrows they use.

Great Stuff!  My build is very similar, but I am only level 32 and do not have the nightingale armor yet.  Like you said, I did end up investing in smithing to be able to make ebony weapons.  I wasn't super happy with what I was finding.  I didn't go overboard trying to get insane damage ratings, but I did make a fortify smithing potion when I upgraded my ebony weapons to legendary.  That combined with a fortify archery ring and bracers, and the mask Krosis, my ebony bow has a base damage of 100.

My guy is a good guy bosmer ranger... His face looks kinda girly, but with that dragon priest mask on, anything but... When not using the bow, I use a dagger in the left hand and a 1-handed axe in the right, the idea being that the axe doubles as a tool as well as a weapon, and that it's shorter than most swords , allowing for better mobility carrying it around.  He wears fur armor, because to me that looks like the most practical thing that a ranger might wear.  To be honest, I do feel a little underpowered in melee combat, when it comes to that, without any blocking.  Think I need to get better at dodging.  That having been said though, I've almost been playing as a pure archer.  Ever since I got the "steady hand" perk that slows time with a drawn bow, I can slow time, landing lots of shots on powerful enemies as they run towards me, if I'm discovered. I haven't been going for any sneak dagger kills, because shooting is so much fun!  Such an improvement over what archery was in Oblivion.  I love how the arrows stick where they actually hit.  I only wish there was locational damage, but that's a whole other can of worms...

I've invested slightly more into alchemy than your build, planning on just getting to the "concentrated poison" perk on the left hand side. I have lots of success with my slow posions and invisibility potions. As time goes on, I probably will invest a few in light armor, just to boost my armor rating a little.

I loot and sell a lot of stuff, so I usually buy the best ones that vendors are carrying, and have those as my main supply. So for right now, I carry around 50-60 glass arrows, but I'll keep a smaller supply, maybe 20 or so, of the level below, in this case elven, for using on lower level enemies, hunting deer, etc.

I love this build just wondering about illusion because the frenzy, fear, etc. Poisons don't do much or is it better at higher levels????

Poisons are better at higher levels and this build is about killing things not making them kill each other - completely removes the fun of the hunt. Half the point of this build was to not use any magic and Alchemy does the job anyway - it'd be mainly used for Slow, Invisibility, Paralysis and damage effects.

Amazing! I am a fan of any stealth build and I love this one! I especially love how he uses a dagger and a sword, keep on making amazing builds Ponty! Are you higher leveled now? I am looking for an awesome Nightingale Assassin build and this seems to fit the role perfectly, but if you are higher leveled now and have more points in Stealth maybe do you use your melee weapons that much? Sorry for my bad english

I built one of my characters (almost) like this and I haven't done neither the civil-war questline nor the main questline. My character is thane of the Rift, married Sylgja, lives in Shor's Stone, hunts in the area of the Rift and helps its people. Oh and by the way he is the guild master of the Thieves Guild, so he is kind of a Godfather :D
It is very fun to roleplay with "The Stalker".
    +1 :)
