Fallout 76: November 19th Patch Notes

  • November 19, 2018

So if you haven't logged in today you might not have noticed the massive 47 GB patch that Fallout:76 is pushing out, or read the Patch Notes themselves. It's an interesting patch, because the size doesn't seem to really correlate that well with the content they've patched. I assume it's a case of Bugs/Exploit Fixes being the main thrust and that's the sort of thing they haven't fully disclosed, but it's quite strange regardless.

So lets discuss the notes themselves. Starting with the positive, I'm really glad that the Blueprints Bug is being fixed, that's one that's almost constantly applied to me so it's nice to see it getting fixed (since it directly impacts me). Hopefully the stability and bug fixes are going to noticeable, because while I still haven't struggled with stability (which I think really does the game credit and I don't praise enough) it's always good to improve it. Overall most of these issues didn't effect me so I can't comment on them, but it's obvious that they're tackling a combination of stability and smaller bugs, which makes sense considering it hasn't even been a week since launch.

I would've like to see more, but eh, at the end of the day it's a pretty quick patch so I'll live. Check Out This Post by Bethesda to learn more about their further planning (including information on the Stash, Push-to-Talk and FoV Slider for PC).

    15gbs for PC :P

I like that people have been complaining about not being able to rebind keys (a justified complaint) and Bethesda's response to a bug is let's make even more keys un-rebindable.

Fuck off what? Oh I guess maybe you guys might have had some more pre-BETA patching because of that whole downloading issue needing to be fixed, and since it's running through Bethesda.net maybe they can update it easier? Probably a half dozen reasons for it, but damn is that a massive difference, here I've got to go a day without playing :P

But yeah that was kind of hilarious in an also sort of shitty way. I'll admit that if I were on PC I'd get pretty upset about it (just because of the...Irony? Eh, the situation as a whole) but since it doesn't effect me it's just hilarious.

Though I do have to ask how restrictive the key-binding issues are. Because on PS4 I've been able to change a fair few of my keys (Including the swap over to a more common FPS system that makes it easier for me to shoot) so I kind of just assumed until I heard about the problems on PC that it was fairly free-form on all consoles.

I think it's a difference between how PC and consoles read the files. When the game released PC beta players only needed to download a couple of mbs to register it as the release version, while console beta players needed to redownload the game.

As for the key bindings if you haven't yet watched it, check out Gohper's video on the topic.

Makes sense I suppose...Urgh really wish I had a decent PC now :P But yeah I'll give Gopher's video a watch.
