Cyberpunk 2077 PC Tech Speculation

Damn, I'm absolutely giddy about this game. Haven't felt like this in a long, loong time. I think the last game I felt like this was Skyrim. And I'm giddy about researching PC requirements again too. Check this out, it's the build the demo ran on:

    • CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K running at 3.7GHz
    • RAM: 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws V running at 3000MHz
    • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
    • SSD: Samsung 960 Pro (512GB)
    • Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming
    • PSU: Corsair SF600 600W

According to the article, they said the game isn't optimized yet, so it's likely that these requirements will change. That said, I do think that to get top quality this is more or less what you'll need. I think the biggest "alien" thing here might be RAM - 8GB, the old "gaming standard" isn't enough anymore, so I think you'll need 12GB RAM to be safe there, and 16GB if you really want it to be the best it can be.

I think the CPU they used isn't necessary to achieve the best graphics at all - from some light researching I did, an Intel Core i5-8600K is just as good for the current late generation and next generation games. You can likely run it decently (read: better than the PS4/XBOX One) with an older/cheaper model than both i5 and the i7 mentioned, but I think that will largely depend on optimization - as we saw in the gameplay, there are loads and loads of NPCs, every single one of them with their own minds, routines and activities. I'm sure this game will demand more of our processors than the usual.

    SSD is luxury.

GPU: the good news here is that CD Projekt Red is, if The Witcher 3 is anything to go by, ridiculously good at optimizing games. So I wouldn't say it's far fetched to say that, same as The Witcher 3 recommended a GTX 770 (one generation before the 900, market's top then), the generation before whatever top GPU we'll have in the market at the time of release will be what you will need to run the game. So I'm wondering if it will be the 1070/80 or the 970/80, since NVIDIA just recently announced their new GPUs.

So what you think about the specs the demo ran on?

Do you think the game will require more or less than that?

Do you think you're ready for Cyberpunk 2077 or do you think you'll need to upgrade your build?

Based on how well they optimised the Witcher 3 I'm hoping that at most we will need a gtx 1060 (which is what I have), I've started seeing games having that as the recommended Final Fantasy 15 for example so while you'll probably want a stronger one to run it on Ultra (or whatever they choose to call it) they probably wont be recommending something much higher. But then again this is all wishfull thinking since I don't want to (nor can I) upgrade my PC any time soon.

Honestly though, it's really hard to say what it will need since the game is still a ways off from release and I don't know enough about how any of this works to make an accurate judgement.

I'd make a wild guess that you're pretty safe with a 1060. Might not run it on max, but will most likely provide a beautiful visual experience. I find myself in worse waters with a GTX 970.

I don't know when it will be released - some say that a 2019 release is likely, and I would love that to be true, but in any case, I don't expect it to ship later than 2020.
