Weapon Review: Pipe Wrench

Welcome to Big Bob's Best Bashers.  Here, I'm going to tell you about all the best bashers you can find out in that big, wily Wasteland, so that you know what you should use to stay alive.

Today, I, THE Big Bob, will be telling you about this marvel here, an ages old weapon, as useful in re-arranging parts on inventions as it is in re-arranging parts on faces,  the Pipe WrenchPipe Wrench

The Pipe Wrench sure is one great Basher, let me tell you, it might not be the fastest basher out there, but it can be safely used in one hand, and is quite a bit faster than your larger bashers, and at only 2 pounds, even the smallest of children could turn this Basher into a deadly weapon.   Now, the true beauty of this basher is that it's almost like 4 DIFFERENT Bashers in one!  Using a little adhesive and some screws, and just a touch of creativity, you can turn this already good weapon into a variety of different weapons.  You could add a hook, so you could use it to rip your enemies Basher right out of their hand, now what good is their weapon on the ground?    You could add some extra weight to the top of the Pipe Wrench, make it much easier to break your enemies knee-caps, that way, even if you have to run, they couldn't catch you!   Now, with that in mind, I know a guy who knew a couple raiders out there, live out near Walden Pond or somewhere near there, they got some ol military pipe wrench, I dont know, maybe it's just made out of some different metal, but he swears that thing definitely breaks legs like they're little sticks of wood,  the Big Jim he calls it, whether that's true or not, I don't know, but if you're out by Walden Pond, might want to watch out for that leg-breaker.

Another benefit of this basher is that they are very common, you can find them just about everywhere, hospitals, schools, even drive in theaters!   Now, you always got to be aware of your Basher and your enemy.  You're probably not going to want to go after some hulking Super Mutant Behemoth with your heavy Pipe Wrench, but for your average Super Mutant, this Basher will still get the job done.  There may be better Bashers out there, for sure, but few the moddability of the good ol Pipe Wrench, plus, it feels really nice when you hit someone with this Basher in your hand.

OOC:  The Pipe wrench has great moddability to add in different combat effects, such as armor piercing, crippling, and disarming.

It had a slightly low max damage compared to some of the other melee weapons, but it is high enough to keep it usefulness for a long time.

Full Modifcation can be accomplished with Blacksmith level 2, and no other skills are needed for any upgrades.

I believe the Pipe Wrench is one of the best melee weapons in game, even considering the lower damge, and in my opinion, the Disarming ability can really help out, particularly on in-door environments, where you can get around to enemies in a quick manner.

You should come up with a Plumber character build in Fallout, Railroad codename: The Fixer!

This is what goes through my head every time I see the "pipe wrench" topic. :)

The Plumber build is a good idea, Noodles. About the article, you've managed to incorporate a good story, which is always great. And you've described the weapon in a good and comedic way. Simple yet effective. Added to the list.

ha yeah a good melee weapon - I like putting the spike on it - looks extreme. Might add a mention of any known legnedary variants - Big Jim for example.

Just really enjoyed reading this one Torbin, sorta comedic but still informative in a really nice way. Yeah, definitely enjoyed reading it :D

Featured it on the Tamriel Vault Twitter Account too, just thought it'd be nice to let you know.
