WiP FO4 Event Build: The Shadowrunner/Decker

Hoy Chummers, I don't know about you folks, but when I see  "Cyberpunk", I think "Shadowrun"

The basic idea is a merc who's chromed-up (Augments represented by perks e.g. Aquaboy/girl being a rebreather augment, Scrapper rk3 being a  cyber-eye mod, etc) and overclocked their pipboy to assist in combat, suplimented with combat-stims (Chems) when things get hairy.

S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Quite a few perk-points will need to go into stats to access theme-apropriet perks

S: 1 This isn't about brute force. If you need to use your muscels, you didn't  think this out well enough.

P:  5+1+4 Perception is a  must for VATS-heavy builds and both Penetrator and Concentrated Fire both fit the Pipboy/Cyberdeck programing theme to a T.

E: 3+1 Death comes easy in the shadows, and a low endurance helps keep that in mind.... also I needed  to draw points from somewhere...

C: 1 Yes you could argue that keeping the crew together and negotiating prices are both of the highest priority,  but again,  I needed to draw points from somewhere, and  from a  meta-standpoint there's not a lot of benifit from Cha in this build.

I: 8+1+1(SPECIAL book) You ARE a decker, afterall. Tech is your bread, butter, jam, marmelade, and occationally vegamite, chummer. Terminals and robots bend to your will, and Nerd Rage makes for a great "Emergency Counter-measure" augment. Maxing this out early will also speed up leveling, so this is where the book point goes.

A: 6+1+3 The  Shadows may be dangerous but they're safer than standing out in the open. Stealth has saved many a run and runner. Agility's also highly important for a VATS build. The higher it is, the  more "optimized" your VATS .exe programs are, and  Gun Fu feels GREAT RPed as an target-triangulation program you're coding on the fly.

L: 5+1+1 Luck, althrough secondary, is benifiitial for a VATs build, and Crits are easily RPed as an overclock program that requires hit-confirmation data to execute properly, with Critical-Banker expanding your storage capacity for that data.

    Perks:

Street Samurai: In the wasteland, combat is inevitable, unless you're inclined to lay down and die, and without a crew to back you up, you're going to need to handle things yourself. Luckily for you, VATS is a very flexible tool, when you know how to make it dance.

Rifleman and/or Gunslinger: Unsure which better fits the build so for now, it's up to preference.

    Demolition Expert(2), Penetrator(1), Concentrated Fire(3),  Gun Fu(3),  Better Criticals(?), Critical Banker(1), Sneak  (4-5), Ninja (3).

Decker: Technology is everywhere, even two centuries after the last tech support center was bombed out, and when half the people can't even write english let alone code, these skills put you in a powerful position of high demand. With your own custom mods for your gear, particularly your pipboy cyberdeck loaded with meat-space black IC, you're ready to frag some drek.

Awareness (1) (Largly useless, sure, but not entirely, and the flavor it gives for this build is worth a spare perkpoint), Gun Nut (4), Hacker (3) (Yeah you'd think this'd be maxed, but let's be honest, that final perk is basically useless and flavorless, since it just removes a 10second cooldown that a decent hacker sees rarely if ever.) Science (4), Chemist (2), Robotics Expert (3), Nerd Rage (3)

Opptional: VANS (Again, little use but it's VATS related so it could enhance RP, perhaps for "tracking a mark"), Action Boy, Grim Reaper's Spirit, Four Leaf Clover, pickpocket,  medic

Chromed: Cybernetics aren't just for protectrons. Especially once you have access to some of the Institute's research, plus your own genius, the possibilities are endless.

Aquaboy (1); If a boomer can make a rebreather out of a preasure cooker, you can too. Getting it into your body may be more difficult though...

Opptional: Scrapper (3); Cybereye program to highlight desired scrap, Nightperson (2); (Cybereye low-light compensation), Re-enforced cyberlimbs: (Strong Back, Steady Aim, Adamantium Skeleton, Quick Hands)

    Companions:

Codsworth: Your very own robobutler, available from nearly the start of the game? That's a no-brainer. Bonus pointsafter you get the ability to mod him from robobutler to battle-mech butler, even if he loses the ability to wear a jaunty hat. Perk: Not super useful, but easy to get and within the theme.

Curie: Even more of a no-brainer than Codsworth. Her personal quest is practically ripped from Cyberpunk 101, and she's romanceable to boot. Perk: Exceptionally useful, and RPable as an implant that requires time to recharge/restock.

Deacon: Hey, who says Shadowrunners can't have a heart of gold? Freeing Synths, undermining authority and earning nice hardware to boot. Perk: Again, exceptionally useful, and RPable as him passing on a simple tweak to Stealthboys to get moor out of them. In fact that might be the actual cannon explination...

Hancock: Though not imediately obvious, his attitude twords life, death, and authority is very complimentary to a shadowrunner's lifestyle. Perk: Not super useful if you're keeping stocked with radaway, but you could RP it as a radiation-powered modual for your CR1T.exe program.

Mcready: Shadowrunners and Mercs are, broadly speaking, the same thing, and whether its credits, caps, or nuyen, in the end it's all about getting paid. Perk: Useful and true to flavor, if a bit utilitarian.

Valentine: This guy may as well be called "Philip K. Private Dick". Every ounce of yes. Perk: Completely within flavor and useful to boot.

X6-88: Within flavor, sure, and dressed the part... but  also a tool of authority. If the Institute's toys are too much for you to resist, he's an fitting  replacement for Deacon. Perk: Like Codsworth's but harder to earn and more utilitarian.

You can gain an extra stat point by getting the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. book under Shawn's crib. It lets you increase an attribute of choice without nullifying the bobble head. From my experience, crafting armor with an endurance that low is worthless. It's not going to help you much. Rather maybe spend those points into something else.

I know about the book, forgot to mention it at first because I useually save it (and the bobbleheads for that matter) to  max my stats over 10,  so  thanks for the reminder.  As for  the armorer,  I was  afraid  that might be the case... but not being able to add the misc mods like sleek or stabalized feel...  wrong... idk,  I'll have to think  about that one. It  WOULD free up a  few points.

Cyberpunk's about leather clothes mostly. Equip Road Leathers combined with Leather Armor (upgraded to Boiled or Girded since they don't need Armorer). I'm sure you'll find some shadow pieces along the way.

Hrmmm... I guess you're right... and those points are needed elsewhere... It'd matter  more if thie build used power armor but that's not the case. Edits made.

New edit up. Sorry I was  gone so long, I've been busy having to deal with city ordenance and an unrelated sprained ankle. At least it didn't get wiped while I wasn't looking!
