TES Roleplaying - WiP Roleplay: The Pantheon Challenge

  • June 5, 2019

Hmm, this one likes the idea and wants to play this idea.

Especially intrigued by Stendarr (rolls eyes, why wouldn't Khajiit like bashing people's faces in?). Stendarr, or S'rendarr to the cultured kitties, is block and restoration, but you allow the use of novice spells for healing and stuff like that, yes? What if this one doesn't want to be all tedious and boring with crafting and making things and just wants to fry the dead?  Also, Khajiti are known for their potency in a certain area of combat that is not a leveled skill (because why fix something that is purrrrfect, no?). It technically doesn't fall under a perked skill, but this one's sharp claws provides a formidable offense for a low-level character. If this one considered this... eh... challenge (because for Khajiit, this is no challenge), Khajiit would do this great feat with only two skills, hands tied behind back if need be. Because Khajiit needs nothing. He is brave and strong.

    Besides...

Crafting is for little babies that still cling to the teets of their mothers, no? S'rendarr thinks so. :P

    Just teasing.

Ok, I have a question.  Are you allowed to use any skill, though you are only able to perk your starting 3-4 skills?

For example, my testing character is a Khajiit who worshipped Alkosh.  He has the Thu'um and Destruction (Akatosh), and added Speech (S) and Alteration (D).  Can he pick up and wield a dagger, wear light armor, or learn and use 'Healing Hands'?  Doing those things would slowly level their related skills, but he could never perk them.  Or is the character just forbidden from leveling those skills at all?  What about paid training and skill books?  I realize you have made some exceptions (speech when selling items, smithing when building a house, and lockpick).

I'm looking forward to starting this challenge!  Thank you for working on it!

EDIT:  PS: One additional question.  Can you ever have a character who can level both bound weapons and the related weapon skill (1-H, 2-H, or Archery)?

Can't comment on the first question but because Bound Weapons count as an offensive skill with this challenge you won't be able to combine them with other offensive skills.

That was my take.  I'm just asking, rhetorically more or less, to point this fact out.  It seems the "sneak archer" approach has been intentionally disallowed, but there are other implications that might not have been considered.  My poor sword singer can either summon his Shehai but not use it effectively, or he can use it like a master but can never manifest it.  :-)

Ok, one additional question...sorry!  Can Thu'um be taken as an offensive 'skill'?  Akatosh, Kynareth, Talos, and Mora are the only paths to using the Thu'um as I understand it.  Could I choose any other Aedra (or, possibly, Daedra) and add that skill?  Thanks!

PS:  And speaking of Hermaeus Mora, is the Black Books 'skill' considered offensive, defensive, or supportive?  Thanks again!

Sorry for the late response, i havent been on zhe vault for a while.

    Ok first Chapper ^^

    1. Of course claws are allowed, since you need atleast a skill to really good oitside of low level. Claw away ^^

    2. I don’t really get what you mean with the "fry the head bit" :D Are you talking about that you want to use Destruction but cant because the restoration? I changed all restoration to defensive so can picl stendaar and still use Destruction  (amd claws) ^^

    Ok now to Feint

    1. You aren,t exactly allowed to just pick up and use a bow when you have not choosen that perk. But im fine when you want to for example wear robes hood and steel Gauntlets amd boots. Just dont go out in full plate armor, i dont think an untrained dude can just use and wear a full suit of heavy armor with out any problems. I introduced a secondary perk you can pick that allows full use of a skill but you cant perk it. So you could pick Restoration as secondary and then use resto spells But just not perk it

    2. Thanks for pointing that out, i didnt think about that and have moved conjured weapons to defensive.

    3. the Black Books are sort of his Artifact, it was meant to show that you can only use them as with his blessing (this excludes the times you have to use them for the dragonborn questline). But no they are not offensive, they arent offensive or defensive.

    4. About the Thu'um i didnt want to just give it out as a perk since it is so powerfull and it would make the blessing that have it worse. But maybe i can give a way to still use it? Maybe you habe to sacrifice something for it? But the way it is know i dont really want to just give it as a perk. Let me think about it a bit ^^

Thanks for the responses!  Ok, we can take two skills (primary) and perk them; then pick another (secondary) which can't be perked.  That makes things a little easier to manage!  As for the Thu'um, you could consider that picking that power requires one primary and one secondary skill (or two primary, though that is very painful and likely not worth it).  An approach like that was used in a previous challenge.  However, only having the Thu'um associated with those four beings also works.

Off I go to replan a few possible builds!  Thanks again!!!

Vezrabuto said: What do you guys think, should i add a free crafting perk? 2 primary 1 secondary and then if you still dont have a way to strengthen weapons and armor you can choose a free crafting perk that you can put points into. Would help with the "weapons become useless " problem.

I am in favor of this.  Allow the user to pick up one of the three crafting skills (enchanting, smithing, alchemy) for free if they don't already have one.  That should help with the survivability of most characters, though not necessarily a lot unless they become extremely proficient in their respective crafting skill(s).  Of course, that assumes one can perk the skill (my vote) and not just simply level it.
