According to Cinemablend.com ESO will be rated M for Mature. Bethesda posted on their Facebook page that "While we may disagree with the ESRB’s determination, we do not plan to challenge the rating, and we are unwilling to change the game’s content to achieve a different rating. The game we have created is the one we want our fans to be able to play."

So are you happy with this change? Why? Why not?

Sort of reminds me of the controversy around Oblivion's rating. To be honest I'm not really sure why Bethesda bothers shooting for T rating on the Elder Scrolls games at all.

Skyrim was rated M as well, as was Oblivion before it. Not like it's really going to turn anybody away from the game.

I'm assuming it's to increase sales among teens

Sales has nothing to do with it, teens will still buy it regardless.

From what I've seen of the game, I'm not completely sure an M rating is necessary... If anything, it would only be for the mature content of the dialogue and story, certainly not the presentation or level of violence.

I imagine the rating will change at some point

Well, what rating system do you have?

    Sounds great. Less kiddos (theoretically)

Definitly, I'm glad it's rated M, better online play and the game is not dolled up.

But they might not add anything just because it's rated M

    What do you mean?

They might not add any content just because of the ESRB change
