    Who would win?

A Orc Berserker decked out in a set of Orcish armor, wielding an Orcish war axe in one hand and an Orcish Shield in the other.

                                             OR

A Nord Barbarian equip with scaled armor, bracers, and boots, wielding a Nordic Greatsword.

neither character is dovahkiin or has the use of magic or enchantments it is a simple battle of braun versus braun.

Orc. Shield bashes will render greatsword almost pointless, armor will block more damage, axe causes bleeding damage

    I second this.

Nord.  Greater reach and mobility.  (Either can block or 'shield bash').

Orc, hands down. But maybe I am biased...

I could see how the reach of the greatsword might be a big advantage, but berserker rage or shield charge or shield bashing or stacking on fast bleed attacks is enough to take down anything. Especially since the Orc would probably get defense bonuses from actually wearing a full set (heavy armor) while the Nord leaves his head wide open to be split in two.

Orc can turtle up and rely on quick counter attacks and damage over time. Greatsword attacks are slow and easier to block. Orc doesn't have to move much, turning to face the opponent is enough.

If the orc gets berserker rage, then the nord gets to make the orc flee like a little bitch (Battle Cry), striking him all the while.  One can shield bash and shield charge with the great sword... (but now we're looking at 'perks').  (But I think the nord should get a helm too though).

Nord can wait 5 meters away... if the orc wants to turtle - that doesn't mean the nord has to close in.  I think people under estimate the weapon reach.

    Who... Is... DEADLIEST?!

To find out, we have a group of nerds ready to use BS science that makes no sense...

Who is better than a group of nerds to figure out the deadliest warrior in an imaginary world...

Well, they can stand and stare at each other, lol ;)))) Orc equipment has more defensive capabilities so a smart fighter would choose defense. Nord will circle him probing for weaknesses and trying to use his speed to find openings. The orc can wait and buy his time. Also Orcs are taller than Nords meaning greater reach.

Sweet idea Ben, that would be great! If you would help me promote it and to get responses this could be as big as the character building contest. So what do ya say, wana help?

Good point about the reach Rune, but I have to agree with Vaz. The Nord might be a bit faster on his feet, but the slow attack of the sword will leave him open for quick shield bashes or attacks, bleeding him out.

... the creators of the game -_-

But only slightly taller, and not enough to make up the weapon reach difference.  I think the fight could go either way really.  Loser = first to make a mistake.

(Personally I would prefer an orsimer wielding a two-hander.

Just a thought, but we could have a console-command powered PC player to test some of these out!

that is cowardly! a true orc would say "F*CK THIS SHIELD!" and would fight in open combat with minimal blocking

the creators of the game = group of nerds

Yes, if they are equally great warriors the fight will be decided by one mistake. I just think Nord will be the first to make it due to more tiring combat style.

The reach matters because Orc will be able to catch the Nord when he's backing. Bosmer won't be able to do it. In fact Bosmer with a same setup might have better luck going offensive.

I've played most two hander and sword and board types,  They all are strong.  My favorite was an orsimer with no armor nor alteration protection, wielding a two-handed on master ironman.  He was awesome.

Ugh ... No way. Sure, Orcs are sometimes lumped into a berserker style of combat due to their racial ability, but shields are some of the smartest pieces of equipment to take into a battle.
