U.O.T.W. Chapter 63 When Dreams Collide

  • Author's Note : Adult Themes

Red slowly walked through the pack. All the wolves without question separated as they moved out of her way. Every night she would have to make the same journey and every time it filled her with dread.

The black wolf felt sick, his stomach was turning while anger gripped at his heart. Aela the Huntress… That was her, the Alpha bitch. She belonged to the Alpha wolf now. All he could do is stand there and watch as she presented herself to the Alpha… Greymane.

The black wolf… He stood there watching her as she slowly walked past him. Every evening she could feel his eyes fix on hers. She felt afraid, she wanted to run… She tried to howl out but she couldn’t. With every second that passed, every time her paws trod in the snow, the sense of dread built up. All she could do was obey.

She walked past him, like she always had to. Her scent was so strong. He tried to call out, but he couldn’t even move. The hate for the grey wolf burnt inside like a fire, but he was frozen. Stuck here for eternity. His soul screamed when he saw the alpha wolf bite her leg making her yelp. Every muscle in his body strained as he tried to forlornly break free.

She felt him behind her, so she looked back over her shoulder. The black wolf’s eyes were fixed on her, blazing with fury. The Alpha forced himself on top of her whilst he savagely bit her back, leaving her no choice but to stand still, as he mounted her.

He saw the grey wolf move behind her while he was forced to watch, unable to defend her, to protect her. As the grey wolf exerted his will upon Red, who could do nothing but obey, the black wolfs soul howled out in rage and anger.

Sotek woke up in an instant. He was sweating and shaking while he could barely control the anger and rage which he felt inside. He tried to take in his surroundings but he felt confused and disorientated. Slowly the surroundings made sense to him.

‘My room... My room’ Then he heard a scream. Quickly he headed to the door, far too quickly. His legs were unable to keep him upright due to them being weak. Too disorientated to prevent himself falling over, he crashed to the floor with a bang. Pulling himself up he swept his hand over his door as he desperately tried to locate the handle. Somehow he managed to find it then he opened the door and staggered out into the corridor. From there he headed towards Aela’s room, towards the screams.

The Harbinger was already with her but she was distraught. Crying uncontrollably from the nightmare. She saw Sotek standing there, then pushed past everyone to get to him and collapsed in his arms.

“Aela, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry”. Sotek gripped her tight, as he held her against him while she held on his chest for support.

“Why? It’s not your fault. You can’t help me. No one can...” She tried to hold back the tears but her fears were too strong.

Slowly he kissed the top of her head as he tried to explain.

“It’s me, it’s me... I’m the black wolf”.

Aela instantly froze then stepped back away from him breaking the hold he had. Shaking her head at him she started shouting indiscriminately. “No, no, no way... You promised!!! You swore to protect me!!! You promised, it can’t be you... It can’t be you, not you!!!” Her knees failed her and she collapsed on the floor. “You promised you would protect me, you swore. You swore!!! You just stand there every night. Every time you watch while he rapes me!!! He rapes me and you do nothing!!! Nothing!!! Get the hell away from me... Get the hell away!!!” She grabbed a chair and threw it at him. Stepping back though the doorway, Sotek barely had enough time to move out of the way before the chair smashed into a wall with a horrendous ‘crash’.

Sotek silently turned around and headed upstairs. It was only then that he realised it was around midday. All the whelps and the other Companions were in the yard but there wasn’t any sounds of clashing metal. Obviously the Harbinger had cleared the hall so he could see to Aela.

There he sat on the bottom step as he stared into the fire pit watching the flames. All the while he listened to Aela’s muffled screams from the Undercroft and the quiet voice of the Harbinger as he tried to calm her down.

Regarding the force & bite paragraphs. I've removed 'forced' a few times. Hopefully that will improve the flow.
