A Liferaft

  • A Liferaft

    A liferaft

    For the broken sailor

    Who fell off his boat

    And sits awaiting a rescue

    In the icy waters afloat.

    Suddenly,

    The unmanned boat

    Comes toward him

    He climbs aboard,

    He is no longer dying

    This man is alive.

    The boat floats away

To the warmth of the shore

Warmth of the home and the hearth

    And the old oaken floor.

The man, who warms himself by the flame

Gives to himself all of the credit

Though he without liferaft is dead, dying, or lame.

Such is the love of Mara,

The liferaft that requires no blame,

Such is the love of Mara

From the ice to the flame.

You're too kind Phil. I actually thought this was not one of my best works.
