Samsara

  • Samsara

    Samsara.

    I had heard the word

    once before

    in a classroom

    of the world before.

It was a class on religion,

    all of which I lost,

    when the first nuke

between us and the Chinese was fired.

    And as I escaped

    up the hill

    I passed all these men

    and women

    and kids I had known

    from my neighborhood

but only I was allowed in,

and so I thought to myself,

what God I could with myself reconcile,

I had my fair share of sins,

(to be fair, I had amassed quite a pile

of sins), which I hoped that some god could forgive.

And so as I went down, below the earth,

I was reminded of that singular word.

Some men in Asia thought it fine,

that men should come back to earth multiple times,

each time a different body in which to live,

    the same soul, reborn,

and so, ravaged by fire within,

    the world was killed,

    but born again.

This piece does have a darker tone to it.
The last three lines gives me visions of death, destruction... Both sound harsh yet they are the seeds to life.

Very nice work. I like the sadness of the second stanza.
