The Divine Chalice War: Prologue

  • Magnus, Architect of Creation, God of Magic, and All-Father to the Magna’Ge, stared upon the infant Nirn as he and his children readied to depart Nirn.

As the robed figure gazed at his work, he felt someone tap his shoulder. Turning, he found himself face to face with the Ada that would later be widely known as Zenithar. He had taken up the form of a muscular elderly man, with a tied beard that ran to his waist, a blacksmith’s hammer in one hand, a purse of coin in the other. “Is it ready?” Zenithar asked, setting his hammer and bag down, floating in the aether around them.

“Yes,” Magnus reached into the folds of his robes, and pulled out a gleaming gilded chalice, inlaid with precious stones. The handles of the goblet resembled the Jill, the serpentine Dov that had settled themselves in the land that would be known as Akavir, each with a jewel keeping its jaw shut. Filling the chalice was a crimson liquid. Tinged gold in the middle. The mystical architect reverently handed the holy vessel to his old friend. “Keep it safe, and may only the worthy claim it, Zenthiarikos.” he said, before turning towards the tear he had made in Aetherius. He took one last look at his fellow deity, “And take care, old friend.” with that, he and his children entered the tear, creating the celestial bodies that would be later be known as the sun and the stars.

Zenithar glanced at the goblet, at the blood Aka had shed into it, so that only those that had proved deserving may have their solitary wish granted. “I swear.” he said, his voice echoing in the primordial darkness. With that, he, and the cup, vanished into the aether.

    ----Centuries Later----

A monk sat in his chair, groaning as the wood and woolen stool eased his chilled bones. He had just come from a long talk with Marukh, the Simian Seet. The time was drawing near for a Divine Chalice War, and the prophet had advised the young prelate to read up, in the event he was chosen as a Master. Hrogir One-Arm picked up a tome with his, well, one arm, his right one, for he had lost his left in a skirmish of, concerning what had been revealed to the ancients of the War.

“The Divine Chalice War. It is an ancient phenomenon wherein seven, though rarely more, individuals are selected by the Chalice, and in turn the gods, to compete alongside the aid of the noble souls given corporealness of heroes, and villains, both from the distant past, as well as the far future. The summoner is known as a Master, and the spirit becomes their Servant. The gods brand the individual with three, or sometimes four if generous, Command Seals, which when used all but force the Servant to complete the command given to them when used. Each combatant, must battle until only one remains. It is then that Zenithar shall reward the victor the Chalice, and once the winner drinks the blood of Akatosh within, he or she shall be granted one sole wish at their discretion.” Hrogir rubbed his chin, and glanced at his hand, as if trying to will a Command Seal into existence via thought alone. “Perhaps….” he then set the book down, and seeing it was late, climbed into bed, and entered the realm of sleep.

    ----Millenia After---

Acilius Bolar groaned as he awoke in his cell in Drakenguard, a secret Thalmor run prison. When the Dominion had finally found him at the sacred Bloated Man’s Grotto as he meditated, he thought as he left his blade before the shrine to holy Talos that he would be dead before the sun had set. Instead, he had merely beaten into unconsciousness, and hauled into a cart, then a boat.

He blearily glanced at the wall, where he had scratched lines for every day in this damned cell he had lingered. If his count was correct, he had been interned in this hellhole for a little over two years. The Colovian groaned as he got up, and as he went to rub the sleep from his eyes, his gaze fell upon his right hand. Like a brand, three markings had appeared, taking the shape of the circular Akaviri shield he and his fellow Blades had once carried into battle. Acilius’s eyes widened, for he had heard the tales, had listened to Loremaster Karvirius gro-Chapper lecture his fellows on it.

“I’ve been chosen as a Master.” The former Blade whispered in awe, before a manic grin broke out on his face. He swiftly grabbed a chunk of stone which had fallen from the ceiling, and with a bit of bonemeal he had made from grinding the bones of the rats and bugs he often found in and around his sparse cell, he began creating the summoning circle.

At the same time, the other six Masters, Gaius Maro of the Penitus Oculatus, Elenwen Melnibone of the Aldmeri Dominion, Vaveli Dreth of the Morag Tong, Bradamante Eraques of the Citdal of Ebonarm, Garrosh Flame-Heart of the Order of the Bronze Bull, and finally, Erikur….farmer, were doing the same. Once their seals were complete, they chanted as one:

“From the Crown, come forth and follow the Forked Road to the Arena.

I hereby propose, my will shall create thy body, and thy sword shall create my fate.

Abiding by the summons of the Divine Chalice, if thou dost accede to this will and reason, answer me!

I hereby swear, I shall be all that is good in this eternal world. I will be the disposer of evil in this eternal world.

Thou, clad in the Enantiomorph, I release thee from the chains of restraint.

    Guardian of the Aurbic Scales!”

Light filled their respective summoning sites, as they transferred a portion of their Magicka reserves to grant their Servant a physical form.

Acilius stumbled back as he gazed upon the familiar armor of Pelinal Whitestrake, the Divine Crusader, though parts of his armor were blackened by congealed elfblood and the burnmarks of the Ayleid warriors’ flames. An aura of malice radiated off him. In his hands were his famed Sword, Arondight, more commonly known as simply the Sword of the Crusader, and his mace, Dagda, said to be able to kill nine foes with but one smash.

Before Gaius stood a male Redguard in his early thirties, dressed in armor resembling that of the Blades, but the hood and face mask failed to hide the ponytail and distinct Yokudan markings. On his back rested a great scimitar. “G-Gaiden Shinji?” he asked, to which the godlike warrior and first Battlemaster of the Arena nodded curtly.

Elenwen groaned as she got up, having been blown back by the force of the summons. Glancing up, her jaw went slack as she gazed upon the chiseled abs (and man nipples), and gilded battleaxe wielded by her distant ancestor, Gailon Monípalóthi, the last Sorceror-King of Stormhold. His sanguine eyes regarded her, before he gave the Ambassador a small smile. “Greetings Elenwen, blood-of-my-blood.” he said, gliding over to his many times great-grandniece.

Vaveli gasped for air as the dust cleared, for before her stood a Breton man cloaked in black. While the Tong and Brotherhood had...tense relationships, even the Tong respected the legendary skill of the assassin before her. “Ah, so you are my Master, are you? One of the Tong? This shall prove most interesting.” Lucien LaChance’s velveteen voice echoed through the Dunmer woman’s ears.

Bramante waved the dust away from her as she beheld his Servant, and dropped to her knees. “My lord.” she whispered, as she gazed upon the ebon clad knight atop his golden horse. She had summoned forth Reymon Ebonarm, or at least an avatar of her god. The raven-black knight silently saluted her with his sword-arm.

Garrosh bent the knee as he gazed upon the hoary, heaving form of Morihaus, Breath of Kyne, son of Kynareth, and lover of Alessia. The Knights of the Bronze Bull were one of the secretive orders dedicated to the hero gods, in this case Morihaus. “Hail, brave knight.” the man-bull stamped his hoof on the ground, as he summoned forth his axe, forming into a brutal, jagged spear. “Come, my Master, let me see what your modern world has in store!” He grinned, his arousal already visible, as battle so stirred his penis to action.

Erikur felt a stream of piss enter in britches as the window sent him flying, and the fear of who he could have summoned filled the farmer’s heart. Before him stood a woman, clad in gleaming crystalline armor, an argent bow in hand. Her snow white hair was braided. “Hello Master, I’m your Servant, Tauriel Melnibone! Its nice to meet you!” she said, as peppy as a sugar filled skeever, her eyes shining bright, as she skipped over to him. Erikur, for all his worth, did the heroic thing...and passed out. “Oh by Auri-el’s left testicle, why do all my Masters pass out, am I too informal?” she groaned, and began poking at the farmer with the tip of her god’s bow.

The die has been cast and the Servants have been summoned. Now, welcome to the tale of the Skyrim Divine Chalice War!

You know what's funny? Gilgy is part god and part human yes? Wouldn't that make him, as one F/Go comic explained...part mongrel?
