Rangers of the North: Part two ~ 3rd of Morning Star, 4E 127

  • '...And you said this was a popular road, but when we got here, you remembered it was the road several leagues from here!' grumbled the bandit below a man dressed in forest greens.

'Not my fault, Map was upside down when I showed it to ya' muttered the bandit next to him.

'Not your fault?! Not your fault?! Were leagues away from our target, and then it will take twice as long to get back because of this detour!' replied the first bandit.

'Oh shut up! We can ambush more people this way.'

'Oh, don't you tell me to shut up' the first bandit said, punching the second, inciting a brawl between the two, which the other three bandits joined in.

The man in forest greens unsheathed his bow, slowly drawing an arrow. Twang went the shot of another bow, sending three arrows at once, and managing to kill four of the five, which the man quickly took down with his own arrow.

    'Who's there!' exclaimed the man.

'A Ranger of the North, custodian of peace, of those who bring order, now come out here Ulfrin, I would know that voice anywhere' said another, dressed in the same attire as the first.

'Betholir, good to see you my friend!' said the man, now known as Ulfrin 'I assume your mission in Whiterun was a success.'

'Of course, Jon is as grumpy as ever, just because I killed a few of his guards still wet between their ears' replied the Ranger, Betholir.

'I hope you didn't make him too angry, we need his support.'

'Of course not! He was yelling at them when I killed them.'

'Oh alright, I'll believe you, the Head-Ranger will want your report, only a few hours to base.'

'Say the words' said the stone, echoing around the two Rangers.

'We are the custodians of peace, of those that bring order, we are the Rangers of the North' the two recited.

'You may enter, stay true to the ranger way.'

'Lest we allow chaos to rule.'

As a doorway appeared in the cave that the two companions were in, three Rangers stepped out into the light.

'Betholir, I trust your mission was successful, and Ulfrin, did you see any disturbances in your patrol?' said the ranger in the lead, known as Jerebor.

'There was a group of bandits, Betholir came just as I was about to kill them' replied Ulfrin.

    'And...?' asked Jerebor.

'They won't be troubling anyone again.' said Betholir.

'Good, the Head-Ranger wants to speak with the both of you, as soon as you are able' and with that, Jerebor and his two companions went back too their posts.
