Storm's Tears

  • Bitter tears falling disguised in the rain

Words hoarsely rolling off a diminished tongue

Apathetic ears hark to words annually sung

Listener and speaker both broken by pain.

Stillness, brittle and bleak, shroud violence like a pall

The unspoken rings true in fractured minds, futility and regret

Dry eyes holding back a flood think back to that sun set

Another year begins at dawn, time to get back up from the fall.

It was a beautiful morning, birds singing, the sky blue but pale

The mundane held significance to eyes wide with shock

Brains reeling and stunned as the survivors tried to take stock

Numbness drapes life like a veil.

"Time heals all" - wise words dropped like blood

The day dawns like the one before yet nothing's the same

Exhausted thoughts cast about for something to blame

Weeks hence they would tread carefully with the casket, avoiding the mud.

Days blend and flow together, the nights seem as one

Gulfs open and chasms yawn in the pyche's of the living

Ghosts pour forth hell bent on reminding

Long ages pass without the light of the sun.

Bitter tears falling disguised in the rain...

    Exceptional work Phil...
Then though you go and ruin your hard work. It's a shame to see such talent go to waste...

I do wish I wrote poetry better. It is like you are what I want Aelberon to be. :)
