Journal of Ashane: Entry 2

  • This day has proven insightful, it's lesson: Do not tamper with the dead.

I was sent out this morning by Lady Elisef's steward to investigate a cavern nearby Dragon Bridge. Turns out it was infested with necromancers and undead, worse yet they were conducting a powerful ritual to bring the ancient spirit of Potema back into this world!

She seemed far beyond anything these necromancers could contain, I'll never forget the way the whole cave shook with the wrath of the spirit and the blue light of the spell forked over every stone as she yelled "You ants don't have the power to bind me!"

What drives a person to tamper with forces so far beyond their control? The spell was a blood magic ritual that seemed to bypass the laws of mundus through a blood sacrifice channeled through a runic diagram on the table. The odd thing is that such sacrifices are generally done to a patron, like a deadra of legend, who then grants the power as a boon... Given the apparent absence of any such patron in the spell I must conclude that this spell was different than others I have read about, or that Potema herself was powerful enough to complete the link... I can scarcely imagine a more disturbing thought; the shade of a person being powerful enough to complete a link from mundus to their afterlife.

I think sleep is out of the question tonight, I'll have to go downstairs and order another round of mead... Nords love the stuff, I miss the wine of Cyrodiil.

Such a short window into the life and times of a would be imperial soldier. Using events in game as a way to flesh out the characterization of him is best since he's the only new (and interesting) thing for us readers familiar with Skyrim.
    And don't...  more

You are presenting the perspective of a very young and inexperienced man, perhaps one that is also very innocent, even though he might be fairly learned.  Since he cannot sleep, makes me wonder what is sticking in his head...intellectual curiosity or the ...  more
