Journal of Ashane: Entry 1

  • OOC: I have altered the events of the game slightly to delay the main quest a bit, and to better fit the reasons my character went to Skyrim in the first place

Where to start? I had no idea that my first day in Skyrim would be so... chaotic. I arrived in Helgen as planned, it was the closest military holding for the imperials, and I was hoping to sign up and help stop Ulfric and his rebellion. But when I arrived I found a crowd gathered around town square, when I came to investigate, I saw several stormcloaks awaiting their execution, including one that was announced as Ulfric himself!

The war would've been over, then and there if the dragon hadn't attacked... I still cannot believe it was mere coincidence that it showed up as Ulfric was on the block, it allowed him the diversion he needed to overpower the headsman and dash to safety. Tullius showed his style of command that day, immediately sending his forces to get the civilians out of harm's way rather than to chase down the criminal. It was admirable, but I expected more ruthlessness from him... In the end I suppose he was right to do as he did, for it seems the stormcloaks had conducted a raid to free their leader, it's the only explanation I can come up with for why the city was full of them when I was guided into the keep by one soldier named Hadvar.

My cursory knowledge of the proper techniques in wielding both blade and spell, combined with his stalwart shield are the only reasons we lived through that assault. Luckily, after the disaster at Helgen, he introduced me to his relative, a blacksmith by the name of Alvor. He graciously offered to take us in for the night and I thank the divines for the roof over my head as I write this entry presently... Skyrim's nights are colder than I'd imagined, and I shutter to think of braving a night alone out there.

Over a meal Hadvar mentioned that the imperials are recruiting in Solitude and that I could catch a wagon from Whiterun... With Ulfric free and possibly in command of a dragon, I cannot delay in helping out with the war effort, lest he destroy us all.

    Solitude awaits

I think in our case, you could have gone even more off the rails. Someone mentioned to me awhile back that unless you have a fresh take on an event everyone already knows, it's just not worth writing about. I think most of the writers on this site create ...  more

Ashane sounds like the very eager, duty bound Imperial soldier!  Nice beginning!
Vix's story about Razzelas started in Helgen, but his character was not meant for the block, just at the inn in fact when the dragon attacked.  So I think you are perfe...  more
