Seeking Redemption: The Chronicles of the Dragonborn-Chapter 2

  • I started to clean my blade with a towel I found inside the camp. I had killed each member of the bandits in about 10-15 minutes. I tried to show them mercy, but they wouldn't surrender. I left the camp, planning on returning to the Bannered Mare to complete the job. After 15 minutes I felt like I was being followed; I turned and saw nothing. Convinced I was just being paranoid, I continued to walk to Whiterun. I heard a twig snap and quickly looked around only to see nothing once more. I thought I was going mad until suddenly, out of nowhere a woman in black armor with a black hood covering her face appeared. She was running towards me with 2 daggers. She began spinning and slashing her blades, but I swept out my sword and managed to block her attack. She shouted at me "You will die here, Dragonborn!". She made another quick movement with her blades and aimed for a lethal spot. I once again managed to block and grab her hand. She quickly sliced her dagger at my hand, but I snatched her other hand. She struggled for a while to release her hands from my life-pulsing grip, until she decided to throw a kick. I being one step ahead managed to kick her first in the leg. She tripped. I rushed down and put my foot on her back and my blade to her throat. "Who sent you?" I asked her angrily. At first, she struggled to wedge herself free, but once she looked at my face, her eyes grew wide. "Kainan? Is... Is that you?" she asked me. I looked at her and shouted, "How do you know my name?!" She started moving her hands to her hood and I crushed harder with my foot. "Answer my question, or you'll die by my boot!" She squealed and squirmed around for a while before finally stopping. "My patience grows thin women, speak! Who sent you and why?" She attempted to speak, but was to frightened at to do so. I decided to end her life and raised my blade, aiming straight through her neck. "Wait!" She gasped under my crushing foot. That voice was one that sounded familiar and it actually made me stop. I removed my foot and she proceeded to take her hood off. And What I saw shocked me to my core. "Anrelri?" I asked out of pure disbelief. She looked at me with tears in her eyes. I immediately took my sword and sheathed it. "I thought you were dead." She said as tears were falling from her eyes "We all did." "What are you doing here?" I specifically told them to stay in Cyrodill. "When you left the group, we slowly disbanded. Belen died at the hands of some highwaymen; Sébastion returned to the imperial city; and Arannir chose to retire and live in Bruma." She said. "I tried to find you. We weren't the same without you. I arrived in Skyrim and searched around the lands for 2 months. 2 months! I couldn't find any leads and thought you were dead. You were my best friend and thinking you died when I could of done something to prevent this... I just didn't care with what happened to me. I left myself for hire as an assassin, but I would only kill those who were unjust. In memory of you." I couldn't believe what was happening. She had risked her own life for 2 months simply to find me? "After awhile I was contacted by the Thalmor. I thought they were planning on executing me or imprisoning me. But they had another plan. They had told me how worried they were with the return of the Dragonborn. They told me how powerful they could be and how that power could be twisted for their own ends. I decided to take the contract to help protect the world. I swear I didn't know it was you Kainan!" She tried to look away from me. I stood there a few minutes trying to process all of these events going on before I lifted her off of the ground and pulled her into a hug. "I'm so sorry Anrelri. I didn't mean to do this." I pulled away only enough to were she was still in my grasp and I wiped away her tears. "Do you trust me?" I asked her. She looked at me. "With my life." "Then come back with me, we'll travel together and it will be like the old days." She looked at me with a warm smile on her face. "I would love to." (Thanks to the help of NobodyBeast and Kyrielle for helping me on this)
