Seeking Redemption: The Chronicles of the Dragonborn-Chapter 1

  • It's been about 4 months since I've left Cyrodill, and so much has happened in between. Helgen, a city here in Skyrim was attacked by a dragon! Luckily I was no where near the city when it happened. I arrived in Whiterun to offer my services to the Jarl and found out I was something called "Dragonborn". Apparently, it's a legend among the Nords here in Skyrim, when a man or woman is born with the soul of a dragon. Normally I would have said that if you believed that, you should probably hold back on the mead a little... But after the fight with the dragon, when I "absorbed" it's soul... I'm ready to believe anything. When I came back to the Jarl, he had told me that in thanks of saving everyone from the dragon he named me a "Thane". As Thane I was basically a town hero. People look up to me. And yet... Why am I still plagued with my biggest failure? No matter what I do, it always comes back to that one morning... I didn't understand why the gods would allow for such a thing to happen to such a young girl as Nadia. But after 2 months of fighting bandits, 2 months of performing odd jobs, I still don't know why. I used to think that we shouldn't fear death since it will happen to all of us one day, but to know allow it happen to such a sweet little girl who still had so much more to live for... I've stopped praying to Arkay, praying to him would seem an injustice to Nadia. I will seek redemption for what I did to you Nadia... No matter what it takes. As I wake up from my day dream I find out that it is almost 9:00 PM. I wasn't tired, so I decided to pass the time with a job. I arrive at the local bar, the Bannered Mare. I ask if they have any new jobs they want done. The Barkeeper tells me about a local bandit camp, she tells me she will pay me after they are cleared out. The gold didn't really matter, I never understood the "infatuation" people had with gold, when you die you can't take it with you, and when you're alive you use it to buy things that are much more useful such as food. Before leaving I ordered a bottle of mead. As I took a drink I thought of all the adventures me and my old group of adventures had. How Sébastion would constantly get angry with Belen, saying his lifestyle was immoral and he should atone. How Arannir would constantly get into fights with Belen for flirting with his sister (Belen sure caused a lot of fights, but he was still a member of our family). How Anrelri and I... I miss them. I exited the bar and head north of Whiterun. After an hour or 2 of walking across the grassy hills near Whiterun I found the bandit camp the barkeeper told me about. Inside the camp was a part of a mountain that had a cavern. There were 5 in total. They stood there, sharpening their blades, eating, and the rest were trying to clear through the rubble in the cavern, they were mining. I unsheathed my blade... I sigh. Another day in Skyrim. (What do you guys think? Any criticism is appreciated)

A little short, but well written.
