Chronicles of the Dovahkiin - ToC

  •

In my four centuries on Mundus, I have devoted my life to discovering the truth of historical events and exposing it to the rest of Tamriel through detailed reports and written documents. I was inspired to write my first narrative, “Surrounded by Red: An Account of the Champion of Cyrodiil”, after the destruction of the Crystal Tower. As the lead scholar and historian at the institute, I felt compelled to travel to Cyrodiil and ascertain the events of the Oblivion Crisis (or what is known as the Great Anguish to the Altmer in Summerset Isles), which had led to the ruination of the pinnacle of magical learning.

After finishing my record of the Oblivion Crisis, I returned to Summerset Isles to assist in the restoration of demolished cities and monuments, particularly the Crystal Tower (also known as the Crystal-Like-Law or Lawful Crystal). Two centuries after its initial devastation, and we have yet to restore it to its former glory.

Many of the High Elves could not conceive the notion of anything worse than the Great Anguish transpiring, especially with the Thalmor protecting the Blessed Isles, which would explain the shock that swept the region once they learned of the revival of dragons. The incident that occurred primarily in the land of Skyrim was given the moniker “The Dragon Crisis”, not too dissimilar from the Oblivion Crisis.

Once again, another affair that the Thalmor shrouded in mystery urged me to decipher the phenomenon. I conducted countless interviews, delved into ancient Nordic tombs, studied the Word Walls that the Dovahkiin had ventured to, and even made the pilgrimage of the 7,000 Steps to High Hrothgar, where the Throat of the World rose proudly over Tamriel. Compiling my information into a series of annals, I eventually finalized another comprehensive manuscript which I promptly sent in for publication. Strangely, it required much more time for me to deduce the Dragon Crisis than the Great Anguish. I suspected it was due to the Thalmor attempting to take credit for the Dovahkiin’s efforts, just like they had done for the Oblivion Crisis. That made my job of unearthing the true events quite difficult. That is why, almost a century later, I am proud to present my second written account of historical events: “The Chronicles of the Dovahkiin: Feyn wah Alduin ahrk Saviik wah Taazokaan”. The subtitle is translated from dragon language to mean “Bane to Alduin and Savior to Tamriel”.

The Chronicles of the Dovahkiin depicts the cruel and harsh journey that Aelina Sibellius, the Last Dragonborn, endured in order to save all of Mundus from Alduin, the World-Eater. Four heroes from all across the continent of Tamriel have remained uncredited for their assistance to the Dovahkiin; however, I will reveal their valiant deeds that have been clandestine for far too long.

Most of my notes are excerpts from my numerous journals, which is why there are a diverse number of dates listed for each of my comments.

I hope that this compendium will prove an asset to many who were incognizant throughout the century succeeding the Dragon Crisis.

    Prologue | Aelina Sibellius

    Chapter I | Aelina Sibellius

    Chapter II | Faelireth

“Aelina Sibellius was not alone during her endeavors. She had many allies supporting her as the Dovahkiin, including the Blades and the Greybeards. However, she had others who assisted her, not because duty compelled them to, but out of their own volition.”

-Lanidor of Cloudrest, Lead Scholar and Historian of the Crystal Tower, 1st of Mid Year 4E 311

    AELINA SIBELLIUS

    The Bard

“Aelina Sibellius was the illegitimate child of an unknown Altmer of Alinor and his Imperial servant girl, Jusana Sibellius. Many have made speculations of the identity of her father, but none have truly confirmed who it may be. Not much is known about her past, but we do possess some critical details: She was raised alone by her mother in the castle of Anvil, where she also worked as a minstrel. After the death of her mother by a Dark Brotherhood assassin, Aelina was adopted by a Morag Tong member, and devoted all of her training to the sole purpose of eradicating the Dark Brotherhood. Her targets were usually wealthy individuals who she would perform as a bard for, then slip a poison into their food or drink once they invited her to their chambers. This would allow her to essentially place the blame on the servants, earning her a smooth and impeccable elimination. The last target she was assigned before discovering her destiny was Ulfric Stormcloak, leader of the Stormcloak rebellion.”

-Lanidor of Cloudrest, Lead Scholar and Historian of the Crystal Tower, 13th of Hearthfire 4E 311

    FAELIRETH

    The Archaeologist

“Faelireth’s transition into Skyrim was not too difficult for her, considering she was raised in the frosty mountains of Bruma, Cyrodiil. As the daughter of an archaeologist, Faelireth was introduced to artifacts and technologies of ancient civilizations, including the Ayleids and the Dwemer, at a very young age. Whereas other Bosmer would be learning to fletch their own arrows, Faelireth was tinkering with the tools and gadgets from her father’s excursions. This is most likely what led her to follow in her father’s footsteps. Picking up where he left off in his research, Faelireth invested both precious time and money into her expeditions, which could last from a few weeks to even a few months. Years after beginning her career, Faelireth was betrayed by a close partner of hers, and fled to Skyrim in order to clear her tarnished name.”

-Lanidor of Cloudrest, Lead Scholar and Historian of the Crystal Tower, 27th of Sun’s Dawn 4E 311

    NELAYNIE ORETHI

    The Curator

“Nelaynie Orethi’s steadfast allegiance to House Telvanni is admirable; if a bit naive. Plucked off of the streets of Sadrith Mora like a withered horn lily, Nelaynie was rescued from her life as a street urchin, and instead offered a purpose as an archivist. With only a staff and scrolls at her disposal, Nelaynie traversed the many continents of Tamriel to collect books and tomes for the Telvanni library. Her goal was to establish the largest and most extensive library in all of Tamriel, one that would even rival the Arcanaeum of the College of Winterhold. Her destination preceding Skyrim was High Rock, where she spent ten years studying scroll magic in order to create her own scrolls. Afterwards, she journeyed to Skyrim to visit the College of Winterhold.”

-Lanidor of Cloudrest, Lead Scholar and Historian of the Crystal Tower, 14th of Evening Star 4E 311

    OGARZA GRA-ZANASH

    The Pit Fighter

“Ogarza gra-Zanash’s past was very much alike to Aelina’s, sharing many qualities while also possessing their unique facets. Ogarza and her mother, Zanash, worked as farmhands to a noble Altmer family a ways west of Skingrad. Though it was not their employers who were abusive, it was her mother who taught her to be strong and independent through severe scoldings and harsh beatings. Unfortunately, the estate was ransacked by bandits, killing Zanash and forcing Ogarza to flee. The young Orc found herself at the Imperial City, where she worked as a custodian to the Arena for years before finally participating in the event herself. Ogarza eventually left the violent lifestyle to learn more about her fellow Orsimer, and traveled north to Skyrim to visit some of the Orcish strongholds.”

-Lanidor of Cloudrest, Lead Scholar and Historian of the Crystal Tower, 31st of Second Seed 4E 311

    RHASITA AL-ELINHIR

    The Necromancer

“As implied by her name, Rhasita was born in the town of Elinhir, also known as the City of Mages. Months after her birth, she was dedicated to the local Temple of Mara by her parents, both devout followers of the Goddess of Love. Rhasita was trained in the healing arts, including beneficial potions and Restoration, and was taught to love others unconditionally. However, for reasons unknown, Rhasita fell from the Divine Mother and instead followed the Daedric prince of dreams. Vaermina delivered her orders to Rhasita through dreams and visions, while also passing on teachings of how to walk in others’ dreams and how to alter them. Finally, Rhasita left the Temple of Mara in Elinhir in search of the infamous Necromancer’s Amulet.”

Welcome to my Skyrim story, "Chronicles of the Dovahkiin: Feyn wah Alduin ahrk Saviik wah Taazokaah"! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my story. The entire story is planned and laid out; there will be nine books in total. Hopefully, because I know the path of my story, I will be able to update twice a month. That is my goal, but it may cut down to once a month. As a student still in school (and preparing for college), I will be quite busy. However, I will continue to work on this story as much as possible!

The beautiful cover for book one is by 1Rich1 on Deviantart. Richy

The five main characters are by far some of my favorite playthroughs of Skyrim. Usually, as an indecisive individual, I have difficulty sticking with one character, but I had worked so hard on each of their backstories that I couldn’t bear to move on to another character until I was satisfied with how far they’d come! And since I adored them all so much, I just had to include them all in this story. However, because I am a huge fan of bards and their concepts, I decided to opt Aelina Sibellius as the Dragonborn, while the others were her companions.

Please excuse the lack of pictures of the heroes. They will be up soon, once I edit them properly.

For the longest time, I remained on the fence of whether or not I should publish this story, until I eventually settled on following through. After all, as an aspiring author, I hope to receive constructive criticism while also hearing the positive aspects of this story. Do not withhold any useful advice or tips you may have for me. I handle constructive criticism very well. Hopefully, I will be able to improve throughout the time it takes to write this story.

Thank you to Sotek for helping me learn my way around the site, including where to post my story in The Story Corner. Thank you as well to Henson, for the kind welcome, and to Noodles, Paws, and Delta Fox for answering my questions.

I’d also like to thank UESP and the Elder Scrolls Wiki for the countless pages of lore and information they have collected for the Elder Scrolls universe. Without them, most of the content in this story would probably be non-existent, as I wanted to be as close to lore as possible.

Finally, I’d like to give thanks to the hundreds of modders on Nexus who were able to make my Skyrim experience memorable. As much as vanilla Skyrim can be fun, I do like my fair share of immersion in games, something that these modders were able to satisfy.

    Thank you very much!

    -Nao

I've had a chance to sit and enjoy this, and it must be said that both the writing and presentation are lovely. The narrator, Lanidor, is grounded in the setting while each of the characters demand attention. I look forward to reading your updates each month.

Aww thank you so much! Your ToC was very helpful in organizing mine. I spent the whole day working on this, lol. Once I publish the prologue tomorrow, then I'll start reading Bound in Blood. It looks very interesting, and I love the first picture you chose!

Glad you like it. I got to chapter 13 and then stopped writing it as I was too busy with my builds and my job, but I'll start working on it soon.
