The Last Holy-Scale: Book Two: Part Two: Down To The Drink!!!

  • The Last Holy-Scale: Book Two: Part 2:

    Down To The Drink!!!

We've seen all the crew members and seen what they're about. Keth'ar seemed to be the one that cared about me the most out of all the crew members. Skyrim was our next destination and I was determined to walk its shores in a few days.

Skyrim's nearest port was in Windhelm so said Junos. He said that Windhelm is the snowiest city in the province...I don't know what snow is yet, so I might've been a bit scared.

Mist and fog began to cloud the sea that morning...it was cold, and the roar of the waves spat salty air up all the crew's noses. Refreshing to say the least. I was at the helm, steering the ship for reasons I don't know why.

Only me, Keth'ar, and Junos were up this early...I can't see the sun, so I don't know what time of day it is. If I were to guess, it's probably 0600 hours. Kirkland is asleep in the crow's nest, but we have no worry of attack because we're so close to port.

I didn't believe that was a thing...so I got up in the crow's nest with Kirkland. I stepped up on the base and I tried not to wake the little man. I looked in the distance and saw flashes of red light. I cast Detect Life and many an aura showed in my field of view.

Then auras began to disappear one after the other...in tandem with the flashes of red light. I cast Detect Dead after that...the number of dead essences that I saw were overwhelming. It was clear that a battle was taking place there...and mages were involved.

I jumped off the crow's nest and onto deck and yelled with all the air my lungs could bear, "SHIPS' BATTLE JUST AHEAD OF US!!!"

Junos immediately came to me and asked, and I quote, "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?! WE'RE TRYING TO SLEEP!!" I grabbed his mouth and made him look at the ongoing flashes of red light...now getting brighter...and hotter.

He snapped back and looked up at my eyes...he said nothing, but he turned around and cast a spell in the air. The spell let out an ear-shattering sound. In no less than a few seconds, the whole crew was gathered around the main deck.

Junos said that he has certain spells that tell the crew what to do. A piercing noise means "to arms", a soft, but long sound means "to bed", a fluctuating noise means "to food". Which is apparently all they needed to know.

I thought that so little a number of orders was dangerous for the crew, I would have to complain about that later. The battle that raged on came into clearer sight, it was an Imperial Navy Magi-ship sinking a random Thalmor ship. Very impressive for the Imperials.

All Junos did was say, "FIRE THE BOW CANNON!" He was intent on taking down that Magi-ship. We were about 600 yards from the enemy and they were casting all kinds of magic at the Gloamrider.

Kirkland and Raesal were firing arrows and bolts down at the mages...and hitting them. The two had special arrows they called, "trick arrows", which were like normal arrows and bolts...but they could do stuff.

We had no mages on the ship except for Junos and I...but we wouldn't call ourselves mages...more along the lines of spellswords or paladins. Junos used some magic, but none of it was Destruction...but Conjuration and Alteration. I had Restoration and Destruction and Illusion and Alteration and that was it.

The mages fell one after the other..and the Gloamrider took a few cannonballs to her Larboard side. In no more than 3 minutes, the main deck of this ship is cleared of Imperail Mages. We boarded the ship.

    On the Magi-ship...

Rezmor: Alright, what are we doing?

Keth'ar: (up on a beam) Boarding this ship my friend...we are to take all and give none.

       Rezmor: Seems simple enough.

Jarik: (carrying a dead body on his axe) Because it is simple enough.

Rezmor: (casts a Thunderbolt behind Jarik)...Got 'em.

Jarik: (looks behind)...hm...not a bad shot.

       Rezmor: Thank you.

       Jarik: Agreed. (storms off)

       Rezmor: Now Keth'ar can you-(turns around)-aand you're not there.

I looked around and saw minor battles with the other crewmates occurring across the ship. I, on the other hand, bashed a hole in the side of a wal instead of taking the door to the inner-ship.

I was met by three Imperial soldiers armed with sword and board. They were shaking in their boots at my sight. One tried to hack at my shoulder, but I cast Ebonyflesh before I went in, and the blade broke against my skin.

I gave a soul-burning stare to the three soldiers...one had a yellow liquid rivering down from his crotch area. They all turned tail and ran away screaming in fear. When they reached an intersection of the hallway, they were impaled by a 10 foot spear...all three of them!

Durz stabbed them. I came to the intersection and asked him how he could use a spear that long with such efficiency. He only told me that all Orcs are born into war...we just know how to use them, no training. Orcs do indeed fascinate me.

I scoured around the ship to look for its captain. Room after room after room, and still no captain. So I used Detect Life to find out where he could be at. And, for sure, the captain was hidden below the deck. He was surrounded by five other life forces.

I was relatively above them, so I would make a flashy entrance by destroying the floor beneath me and landing in front of them. I heard the captain whimper like a young girl and the blades being drawn out of his guards' sheaths.

The smoke faded away and the guards slowly lost their angry looks, and traded them for fearful ones. One big guard said that I, "wasn't shit", and tried to swing a greatsword at my head. Ebonyflesh concentration is all I can say.

The greatsword swung down at my head, but, like the rest, broke on impact with my skin. It takes alot of Magicka to concentrate a specific spot on the body with Ebonyflesh. The face on that guard after his sword broke was...priceless.

His eyes popped out and his voice cracked...haha, that was funny let me tell ya'. Anyways, the rest of the guards all charged me at once, blades swingin'. I just threw on a Flame Cloak and evaded all of their first strikes. I drew Blessed Sun and smacked one guard in the face with her broad side.

This of course rent his head from his shoulders and the head hits his comrade upside his head. I then shot a Thunderbolt at a scrawny guard, this disintegrated the poor lad. The last three rushed me, but I jumped over all three. I took out Reka and slammed down on all three with amazing force. I even added some lightning for good effect.

After I rose over the three roasted bodies, the captain tried to frantically crawl away from me. I stepped on his back and he wailed in pain. He tried to plead for mercy...so I gave it to him. That is one of our laws on the code as a Holy-Scale, "When Mercy is pleaded, give it..."

I walked away, but that captain tried to shoot me with a harpoon, and he did. The harpoon went straight through my abdomen and blood shot out of my body and onto the walls. The captain put on a cocky smirk. I changed Blessed Sun into Pure Soul and cut off the head of the harpoon.

I pulled out the harpoon and my wound sealed as I was casting Close Wounds. The captain was appalled and I smelt the shit in his pants. The other part of that law is, "...if they reject your blessing...end them." So I did, I stabbed him in the face and his blood sprayed out of the exit wound, and onto my blade.

I left the corpse to lie there and rot,

I returned to the main deck and was greeted by Junos. He asked what I had found down in the ship. So I told him that their captain drinks damnation. He sighed and put his hand on my shoulder in disappointment. I didn't know what was happening...so I asked what was happening.

Junos tolde me, like a parent does to its child when it makes a mistake, "You don't kill the captain when we haven't interrogated it yet...we need to find out where their treasure is kept." My eyes widen and I said, "Ohhhhh....I just acted off of old habit that's all," He replied with, "Old habits are old for a reason...leave them behind." Then he stormed off.

I stayed on the main deck, not knowing what to do next...you know...because it's my first time. Jarik eventually came around and asked what I was doing just standing around. I told him that I didn't know what to do, so he just said to, "Keep watch on this deck, let us know if there are any more ships incoming."

I only nodded and saw two stragglers trying to go overboard. I caught one with my hands, and the other with my tail. They tried to plead for mercy, so I let them down. They were confused as to why a pirate would let them off so easily. Simple...I'm still a Holy-Scale at heart, and I will continue to follow the code.

They tried to attack me while my back was turned, I thrust my arm out and a giant root burst from my hand and smashed the two ungrateful Imperials off the deck!!

I am shocked by this incredibly sized root where my hand should be. It retracted back into my arm and my hand is back to normal. I couldn't believe what I saw...and it happened to ME!! Suddenly, a flash of the Sun-Hist's memories popped into my head...the seeings of its time and the  powers that laid in store for me.

I called this skill Root Arm...using it to take out enemies from a distance, or to get to high or far places with ease. No one saw that happen, and that was probably for the better. We kept up this search for the ships treasure for about an hour...but Kirkland found it eventually.

We had a fun time looting a precious Imperial Magi-ship. We returned to the Gloamrider and Junos called me to the starboard side of the deck.

Junos: (looking at the Magi-ship) How adept are you in Destruction?

Rezmor: Probably more than you captain.

Junos: Then let's see about that my friend. (readies a flame spell)

Rezmor: Flames...absurd, (readies a Thunder spell) you need thunder to bring down a ship.

       Junos: On three.

       Rezmor: (chuckles)

Junos: One...two...THREE!! (casts a Giant Fireball)

       Rezmor: (casts a Thunderstorm)

The combination of fire and lightning striking the Magi-ship was nothing short of a beautiful piece of art. The Giant Fireball that was cast combined with my broad ray of thunder and created a brilliant red and blue murder maker. The ship stood no chance of surviving the onslaught of magic...ironic given the type of ship it is.

As the crew watched the ship sink, they all said, "DOWN TO THE DRINK!!!" Which was pretty damn cool if you ask me. The ship had random explosions as it sank, ending the day with a much-needed BANG!

Junos and I walk to the rest of the crew, he sends me to stand with them and gave us a speech on what has transpired. He gave us a rundown: 7,689 Septims, 3 pieces of ebony armor, 67 rings, 34 necklaces, 2 useful swords, 4 useful greatswords, and a strange spellbook.

Junos and I would look over the spellbook later, as it was in a magically-sealed protective case. The rest of the riches we could revel in later...Durz and a few others would assess the damage on the Gloamrider while we decipher the spellbook.

    In the captain's cabin...

Junos: A strange book for certain...and for it to be so well-guarded...who is to open it first?

       Rezmor: I'll open it.

Junos: You can't just say that on a whim Rezmorziriik, you have to think: It might be a trapped book.

Rezmor: Absurd. Look, (points at the book's cover) there is nothing on this book that would indicate that it's been runned.

Junos: How would you know, an- (Rezmor quickly opens the book) AHHH! (cowers)

       Rezmor: .......Nothing happened captain.

       Junos: (stands up)...I knew that.

Rezmor: No you didn't, you were cowering in the corner literally no more than 5 seconds ago.

Junos: Well I thought that the spellbook was runned...pardon me for being cautious.

Rezmor: Do you know how to know that an object is runned at all?

Junos: It should have the runic symbols on it right?

Rezmor: Wrong. It's possible to hide the runes. You should be able to feel the magicka emanating from the object.

       Junos: You can't "feel" magicka.

       Rezmor: Wanna bet?

Junos: Gladly...if you can guess the school of magic in my hands behind my back 5 times in a row, you get 3000 septims. If you cannot, you lose your share of the hauls for the next month...savvy?

       Rezmor: Deal.

Junos: Let's do this, close your eyes.

       Rezmor: (closes eyes

Junos: Don't ya' dare peek, lest you want to lose.

Rezmor: Then I'll turn around, (turns around).

Junos: Alright...spell One, (holds a Calm spell)

       Rezmor: It's Illusion.

Junos: Wha-...lucky guess. Alright, spell Two. This time, cover your ears.

       Rezmor: (covers ears

Junos: M'kay, (holds a healing spell)

       Rezmor: (laughs) Restoration.

Junos: No way...spell Three, (holds a Banish Daedra spell)

       Rezmor: (cocky) Conjuraaatiooon.

Junos: BULLSHIT!! There's no way you can be this lucky.

       Rezmor: ...

       Junos: Fine...I'll cast a spell I made up...(holds a Pirate's Bane spell)

       Rezmor: Destruction.

Junos: ABSOLUTELY ABSURD!!! I've never heard of anyone being able to "feel" magicka!!

Rezmor: Well you've met the first.

Junos: Are you truly covering your ears!?

Rezmor: I am...you're just very very loud.

       Junos: (holds an Ebonyflesh spell)

       Rezmor: (confident) Aaaand that's Alteration.

Junos: (in awe) I don't believe it........this goes beyond guessing...you can truly, "feel", Magicka

Rezmor: I've been trained to do that captain...for 16 years I've been able to do that.

       Junos: Can I learn that?

Rezmor: It would take several years.

Junos: Our people are quick learners Rezmor...I can learn-

Rezmor: No you cannot...trust me...my people are surrounded by magic...and I was in an environment that promoted magic growth.

Junos: You can't keep secrets from the captain.

Rezmor: It's a naturally acquired skill.

Junos: Oh...I see...how old are you?

Rezmor: I've walked Nirn for 57 years...we argonians age faster than any others.

Junos: Ah yes, you don't look that old...well...let's read this shall we?

Rezmor: Indeed, (they study the book).

Junos: Interesting, Rezmor, do you see this?

Rezmor: I do...this spell calls forth...a storm of fireballs...I believe it calls itself, Fiery Rain.

       Junos: You know what Rezmor?

       Rezmor: What?

Junos: In place of me giving you 3,000 septims...how 'bout this spell...you deserve it. Also I like my money and I don't wanna give it up

       Rezmor: Truly?

Junos: Of course...besides, you're far more adept at magic than I am.

Rezmor: I thank you captain...this is a great gift, (absorbs the magic from the spellbook).

Junos: It's late...you should probably hit the sack.

Rezmor: And I will, I'll see ya in the morning. (leaves)

       Junos: Goodnight Rezmor

I saw the Sun duck its head below the horizon. I thought that I would do the same and duck my head into my pillow. Haha...now that I think on it, so much has happened this past week. The Holy-Scales were destroyed, I received a new power, I'm now a pirate, and I've plundered my first ship...what a week!

As I fall to my knees to pray to the Hist, the Sun-Hist's voice emanated from inside of me. "You follow the right path," it said. I opened my eyes in shock, and was breathing heavily. The Sun-Hist might be dead...but its soul still resides in me...and I must carry it to its new home. A task I knew I was still a very long ways away from completing.

For now, I will hold the power of the Sun-Hist as my own...though I do not know its full potential yet. Maybe...just maybe...this power will bring peace and order to all persons I am soon to meet.

    To Be Continued...
