As Dusk Fell

  • As Dusk Fell

    The wanderlust

       a poor wretch feels

    Seeing the dust

       a'fore seeds sow'd.

    His path chosen

       a burden tow'd

    The labourer

       whom no love shields.

    Descended dusk

       upon the fields

    A lonely husk

       travelled the road.

    The night broken

       as ravens crow'd

    Still Wanderer

       his last breath yields.

I created the rhyme scheme for this myself, it follows a-b-a-c, d-c-e-b and then repeats. I created this with four syllables per line, in a set of four quatrains (four-lined stanzas).

    I hope you like it!

I love the structure - I actually sung this to myself and it sounded so beautiful, but also very sad. The ending is amazing. :(
