The Story of Raggvir

  • Dear Blogmembers, I present you the life of Raggvir - so far. This is not finished yet, because I am playing the character live at the same time. This means, there will be chapters added to his story as the character grows older and progresses in the world of Skyrim.

As my Prologue, i will provide Raggvir's Backstory:

    Prologue

With a loud crack your sword snaps in two as you hit your foe's leg angrily. You look up, but he makes no attempt to hit you back.
"Looks like the table won this time" your mother remarks from the hearth and glances over, smiling warmly. You throw the wooden parts of your sword into the fire and watch it burn in the flames. The crackling of the dry wood drowns the noise of the rain splashing down on the small, wooden house.
The summer had ended and the fall had begun with it's for everlasting rains and storms. "Wash your hands and get the plates honey, the dinner is ready and your father will be home soon." As you walk down the stairs to the small water bucket which your family filled on the nearby river, you hear a deep, commanding voice upstairs, followed by bashes on the door.
"Open up, in the name of the Emperor. Open, or we will be forced to break the door."
Quietly you climb up the stairs just so far you can see the intruder: Three imperial soldiers in full armour, a Thalmor Justicar, and your father - in chains.
"What is this about?" Your mother asks terrified.
"We have information that you and your husband..." He nods towards your father "...violate the White-Gold Concordat." He pauses briefly to let the words sink in. You watch your mother turn pale in horror. They had been worshipping Talos for the past ten years, and never feared that anyone would find out as they lived far off from any major city. "I am here to arrest both of you." Your mother, realising that the Thalmor didn't mention you at all, quickly grabs her fur coat and boots and follows the soldiers without resistance. For a moment you see your father's face: Worn out, tired, his gaze unfocused.
The Thalmor left last, when he suddenly turns around, his eyes darting in your direction.
With a grin, he raises his hand and speaks a word you don't understand. Time seems to slow down as you see a stream of flames escaping his hand, shooting to the bed, the cupboard, wardrobe and the table. The house starts burning like built from straw. You cannot hear your mother scream or your fathers desperate shouting as the fire roars ear-deafening. Without a last glance back, the Thalmor shuts the door and leaves you to die.

You run down the stairs and try to extinguish the flames with your water bucket, but you don't nearly have enough water to fight this unearthly fire. Thundering a large beam crushes down from the ceiling, hitting the wall and leaves a crack, just big enough for you to slip through and escape the raging inferno into the night. You sit down and sob, eventually falling asleep. You count nine summers.

    Eight years later ...

You survived. You travelled through Skyrim, taking small jobs for a few septimes, stealing food, sleeping in stables, never staying at the same place for longer than a week. You scavenge battlefields for usable pieces of armour of weapons to sell to a local blacksmith.
Today, hunting a deer, you overhear the sound of steel on steel and shouting. Seeing the opportunity, you sneak closer and see a group of rebels, known as stormcloaks led by their leader Ulfric fighting a group of soldiers. Although they were the stronger warriors, the soldiers just outnumbered them and took the surviving ones captive.
A dead soldier lying close to you, wears a pair of expensive boots. You take out your hunting knife, ready to take them for you, when... "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?" You turn around just in time to see an armoured fist coming down on your head, knocking you out.

You awake to the sound of horses and a creaking cart. You hear the trees rustle and birds sing. It is early morning. You hear a voice saying:
    "Hey, you, you're finally awake."
    And raise your head...
