Chapter 1: To Slay a Dragon
Entry 6.

On my way back to Whiterun, I stopped at the trader’s store and returned the claw which resulted in a reward of 400 septims.

As I approached the city I noticed a plume of smoke billowing from the west and it held my eye for several minutes, before the wait of the tablet reminded what I was supposed to be doing. Everyone I passed as I made my way to the keep, also seemed to have noticed the smoke, as each of them were looking and pointing in that direction.

Upon entering the keep, it was filled with people rushing around the main hall with the only room that seemed free of the chaos being the Wizards study. The Wizard himself was incredibly pleased that I had managed to succeed where so many others had failed, and then started talking excitedly to a female Breton I had yet to meet. As they spoke the Jarl’s Housecarl rushed into the room and informed us that the Jarl wished to speak with us.

The smoke I had seen turned out to be from a dragon attack on a watchtower in that area. And as I had survived Helgen, the Jarl wanted me to accompany his guards to investigate. For my assistance so far, he rewarded me with a pair of iron gauntlets that are enchanted to grant me greater strength when using a two handed weapon.

After thanking the Jarl for the reward, I set out with the guards and we made quick time to the watchtower which was now little more than a crumbling ruin. As we approached a badly burned guard ran out of the rubble screaming something about a dragon. And before we could make sense of what he was saying it was upon us.

The battle was the fiercest thing I have even taken part in, and it cost many of the guards their lives. As each one fell I made a note to drink to their bravery should I survive it myself. For while I could not join them in Sovngarde just yet, I could still honour them as was fitting any Nord that died in battle.

Eventually through the use of countless arrows and the Housecarl’s shock magics we brought the beast to the ground, and its death quickly followed. As we stood in awe of what we had accomplished and the realisation of what had been lost to achieve it washed over us, the beast’s body burst into flames and the chanting from the day before returned. But instead of feeling like my head would burst, this time it felt as though I was recalling something long forgotten.

Once it was over, some of the guards started shouting about me being the Dragonborn and that I should be able to use a power called the Thu’um. As I thought about it a power welled up within my throat and suddenly burst forth knocking several of the guards back. This only served to strengthen their belief that I was this Dragonborn.

If it turns out that I really am some hero of legend, then I might finally have my chance to join my fellow companions in Sovngarde.

The Long-Chapper You'll want to head to the dragon lair in the Reach soon. Use that Nordic tower as cover

Golden Fool As part of the bounty quests in the reach and the rift, I was sent to kill dragons at Lost Tongue Overlook, Autumnwatch, Ancient's Ascent and Northwind Summit. So yeah... lots of arrows were used.

The Long-Chapper Good thing to level up that smithing. Really with all the arrows, I found I leveled up smithing with not a lot of grinding.

Golden Fool Because I was initially just looting arrows, I've now started buying as much steel as I can from a single smith and converting it all into arrows. I then sell off any excess I have, so that I'm carrying no more then 400-500. I think I'm either level 30 or...  more
