I always befriended the Forsworn after I read the book called "The bear of Markarth". It explained how the Nords slaughtered the natives of the reach, taking Markarth and destroying their civilization afterwards.

I love the Forsworn and hate the Nords. Mainly because the Forsworn are Bretons (one of my favourite races) and I know they're fighting for an honorable reason. But this time, with the announcement of the Holds event, I thought  it was time to mix things up a bit and do the opposite. That's how this build came to my mind. A Forsworn hater, an avenger...

Today, I'm going to tell you the tale of:

"A long lost daughter finds herself reunited with her family after 20 years of slavery being held captive by the Forsworn. How she got out is an unbelievable tale dating back to 4E 181 right in the middle of the Reach. This young woman has an unbreakable will of steel, capable of bringing destruction to all of those who oppose her, and once reunited with family, she will revenge against the the Forsworn and the very own man who kiddnaped her, for in her very own blood is the very own tinge of Silver, the only thing that flows trough the rivers of Markarth.”

This build is all about taking the war to the Forsworn, engaging them when always possible and keeping your name flowing with their blood. It's mostly an heavy armor dual-wielding build, that focuses on enchanting to keep our weapons powered up with magic to destroy the strongest opponents in one blink of an eye. Envolving an ultra-aggressive playstyle, Nily Silver-Blood is geared up and ready to roll! Enough about the details and let's get straight to the numbers shall we?

Race: Nord (due to Roleplay purposes)

    • 50% resistance to frost is awesome. It doesn't do much when we are facing fire based Hagravens and that but, it will always come in handy when we need it. And of course, Silver-Bloods are Nords.

Stone: The Lady Stone (Quite fitting eh?) / Warrior Stone

    • The Lady Stone gives us a solid 25% increase on Health and stamina regeneration. It's invaluable for the type of build we have! And the warrior stone to grind up our combat skills when need eh?

    Skills:

-One Handed: our main form of offense. We will want to be a savage dual wielding machine. Maxing One-Handed is not needed, but it'll help us maximize damage output.

-Heavy Armor: Good ol' fashion Steel plate armor is a very nice looking armor and grants an awesome 500ish AR when fully upgraded!

-Smithing: As you've already guessed, Smithing will take a good part in this build because it will allow us to upgrade our armor, so it can reach it's full potential. Also, with the advanced armors perk, we will be able to smith our Steel Plate Armor.

-Speechcraft: A must have Skill. What kind of Silver-Blood would not have a sharp tongue? 'Nuff said.

-Enchanting: We will need to enchant our weapons because...you know, Silver Swords can't be upgraded trough Smithing, so we'll need to enhance your weapon's damage trough another way...enchanting. But I'll talk about it in a moment...

    Right now:
    • We have two Combat Skills: One Handed + Heavy armor
    • We have two Crafting Skills: Smithing +Enchanting
    • We have one Passive Skill: Speechcraft

Each skill complements one another. For example:

    • Smithing will complement Heavy armor. Because, trough the former, we can improve the latter. Yeay! And even Enchanting can complement heavy armor due to the perk "Arcane Blacksmith", which allows us to improve magical armor. Just what we need.
    • One handed is complemented by Enchanting, because we'll enchant our weapons with the power of the Arcane (see Weapons). And Smithing will also complement One Handed when we temper our weapons. Quite logical but effective.

I have arranged two awesome sets for our build. They have a nice AR and are good looking. I'll divide the character in two parts: Early and Late levels. So, here we go:

-Early Levels (1-19): Full Steel Set.

    • This set is just so easy to obtain...it might just well be even you first armor set after Helgen! It can be found out in the wild at level 2. So it won't take too long before you can get your hands in it.

-Late Levels (20-40): Full Steel Plate Set.

    • This one was an easy choice, but it is a bit more complicated to get...you'll need to be at least level 20.Then, Bandit Chiefs and the such will carry them. Some notable locations to find it at level 1 are: Alftand (Umana carries the full set, minus the helmet); Guards encountered at the Blackbriar Lodge (Cuirass); Vigilant Tolan (Boots and Gauntlets).

    Enchantments:
    • Steel Plate Helmet -> *
    •  Steel Plate Armor -> Fortify Heavy Armor + Stamina
    • Steel Plate Gauntlets -> Fortify One Handed + Fortify Smithing
    • Steel Plate Boots -> Fortify One Handed + Fortify Stamina Regen

    *    The helm part doesn't really have any useful enchantments to complement the build, apart from Waterbreathing which could prove useful in "Ship-delving" I guess. In the Reach...

"Magma and Glaciar, forged by the finest Silversmith in the city of Stone."

Silver Swords, the sweet-looking Silver Swords...

These little beasts are very effective against undead. Not exactly our specialty but it is useful. What it really shines on this swords are their name. Silver Swords. It's a Silver-Blood trademark. Every Silver-Blood should carry one.
Once you get a pair of them, I suggest you to enchant them. Because it's impossible to temper them with smithing (an oversight by Bethesda in my opinion), we'll have to enchant them to keep up with the tougher enemies at later levels. Here are they:

One thing I've never seen anyone doing before:
    .
    • Magma: Effective against Undead+ Fiery Soul Trap ( Fire Damage + Soul Trap) + Absorb Health
    • Glaciar:  Effective against Undead+ Frost Damage + Absorb Stamina
    .
The four enchantments weapon. Magma, already a Silver Sword and having a fixed enchantment, can still be enchanted two more times if we have the "Extra Effect" perk. But we can go further...let's choose an enchantment which has two more effects. The Chaos enchantment would be great but I aimed Magma and Glaciar to be two natural element based weapons. So if one weapon already had all 3 elements, than what would be the point to have two weapons? So that's why I chose the Fiery Soul Trap enchantment.
(Note that this are my custom enchantments and the combination I liked the most, so you are free to pick up other enchantments that better fit your Playstyle)

They will have an initial 20ish~30ish attack rating. That's what we really need. Now add that AR to the enchantments listed above and you could be very well making 40~50ish damage. Now that's AWESOME!

"Peer closer into the Silver, can you hear their screams?"

Shouts, powers and passive abilities will be implemented in this build perfectly. I  wrote a list of the ones that better fit our build. Let’s begin with our Draconic powers, the Dragon Shouts:

-Disarm; Unreleting Force; Throw voice; Whirlwind Sprint; Call of Valor; Dismay

It’s a pretty neat list of shouts actually, despite not being that huge, we have shouts to use in almost every situation. Are you surrounded by evil draugrs? Fus Ro them and make them Dah! Are you facing a dungeon full of Forsworn? No problem! Use Throw Voice and disperse them! Are you running low on health and there’s that enemy who’s launching towards you and you’re afraid he’s going to kill you? Show him who’s in charge by shouting Dismay and watch him flee in terror! Too much fun can come from shouts if used properly ;)

     Next, we have the:

                                                        Greater Powers

Mora’s Boon: Our build doesn’t have any perks into restoration so Mora’s Boon is a very good alternative to Healing. This little power heals you completely. Even your Stamina and Magicka! But only once a day.

Secret of Strength: Tired of being drained out of stamina? Use the Secret of Strength and you’re able to do an unlimited amount of power attacks WITHOUT wasting any stamina whatsoever.

Bones of the Earth: When used, the caster ignores 80% of all physical damage for 30 seconds. Remember to reacquire it again at the Earth Stone after you used it.

Battlecry: Makes enemies flee in terror. A great alternative to the Dismay Shout. It can only be used once a day though.

                 Now, finally:
                                  Passive abilities

Ancient Knowledge:   This passive ability is outright bugged. It’s supposed to give us a 25% AR when Wearing Dwarven gear and an increase in Smithing of 15%. But it does not. It actually grants you a 25% AR bonus when NOT wearing Dwarven Armor. And that little 15% thing? It only applies when tempering weapons. Not forging, improving armor and the such. (Bethesda messed up pretty badly in this one…)

Seeker of Might:   Makes your combat skills 10% better. Oh yeah.

Being a pure warrior, it isn't easy to find many special attacks due to Skyrim's "hit-until-target-is-dead" Combat System, there's just not enough combos that one can do with a weapon in my experience. But I managed to create some:

Fool's Bait- (Throw voice + Fus Ro Dah)

You taunt your enemy to make it come at you. When you recoverour breath, show him the power of your inner voice.

Coming at you Bro!(Disarm + forward power attack)

A Forsworn spotts you, gets his weapon ripped of from his hands and you come straigh at him with a powerful power attack to get the kill.

Supernatural Strength- (Bones of the earth + Secret of Strength + Call of Valor)

Designed for the most powerful enemies out there in the wild, this little combination will get you a VERY HIGH AR and some extra help from Sovngarde. Remember to use it sparingly, otherwise you might be finding yourself constantly having to go to the Earth Stone, to reacquire the Bones of the Earth ability.
    .

    Melee enemies:

Most Forsworn we'll encounter wield either an axe or a sword. These type of Forsworn are the Melee Forsworn. So here's how we'll want to take them down:
First, get their  attention- we're not those sneaky little guys. We go ahead and savage the entire area before the enemy even has time to pull out their swords.
Second, confidence, determination and bravery- Go at them as fast as you can and use Disarm. They will drop their weapons and we'll be able to strike first. If we're lucky, we'll get  a critical hit right of the bat. If we aren't, then it's time to get extreme.
Third, do a dual wielding power attack until you take them  down. Simple, yet devastating.

    Range Forsworn :

(This includes Archers, Hagravens, Briar Hearts and Shamans)
    • They have range, we have raw damage and amazing speed. This type of Forsworn are a bit anoying...because they will mostly see you first before you can see them. So it's a good idea to familiarize with the camps we're gonna raid before we go in for some action. Once you're face to face with a caster, use unrelenting force. This will knock them down from the plataform they might be in, and give you some free hits. If they're not dead, circle them and strike continually until their dead.

Here's a video I made demonstrating Nily Silver-Blood in action!

    .

As you've might already guessed, Nily is part of the Silver-Blood Clan. One of the most influential families in all of Skyrim. Her main objective is to prove them she's their lost daughter. But without any proofs on the matter, she must gain their trust and the people of Markath's. This is what she did when she arrived to the city of Stone:

    Quests:

We should start small, act behind the scenes:

Lisbet's Missing Shipment--> Recover Lisbet's statue of Dibella.

Kolskeggr Mine--> Clear the Forsworn from the mine.

Sanuarach Mine--> Complete the quest in favor of the Silver-Bloods.

From this point on, we can do some more important quests:

The Heart of Dibella--> Betrid Silver-Blood was once a priest of Dibella, you should honor her by doing the temple a favor.

Investigate the hall of the dead--> Once you arrive to the Hall, just kill Eola. This way, the citizens of Skyrim will be , once again , allowed to visit their honored dead.

The Lost expedition--> Recover the journals from the expedition in Nchuand-Zel.

Now after Nily gained some reputation in Markarth, she started to investigate Margret's murder:

The Forsworn Conspiracy--> Investigate the murder, and do everything as usual.

No one escapes Cidhna Mine--> Kill Madanach. The Silver-Bloods will reward you and acknowledge you as one of their own.

She finally revenged herself on Madanach, for her kidnap and all he did to the Reach. The Silver-Bloods have finally found their daughter, Markarth a champion...but there's still so many things to do. The Jarl needs a Thane.

Kill the forsworn Leader--> Do a favor for Jarl Igmund by killing a forsworn leader.

Dungeon Delving--> Do a favor for Jarl Igmund by retrieving a shield.

Thane of the Reach--> Gain the title of Thane of the Reach.

Nily's life has been put back on it's trails and she has had a normal life ever since. This is until she received a letter from Jarl Baalgruuf... She needed to head to Whiterun and help in some sorts of a "Dragon Related problem".

Main quest--> Until you gain access to shouts. Yeah...

With all this quests done, you should be recognized as the Champion of Markarth. The people of Markarth will obey and respect you.

The Silver-Bloods will welcome you to their house after you've proven  them your loyalty. You'll once again be amongst your own and live what you had never lived...as the one and true, Nily Silver-Blood. You can live in their house, hangout with your uncle at the Understone Keep, have a drink at your own inn, the possibilities are endless...just don't forget to engage with some forsworn every few days, for your own good, and Markarth's.

                           Some extra notes:

So we're done! But there are some things which I think should be noted before biding farewell.
If you noticed, I didn't mention (in the equipment section) some things in regards to amulets and rings. First, it would be a very good idea to have some shout cooldown gear, namely the Talos Amulet and even his blessing, if you want to use shouts more frequently and even perform one of the combos I mentioned earlier.

Second, this build forces you to have a "more agressive" playstyle, since we have no sneak, or magic. So it might be worth to train your agressiveness a little and adjust your playstyle. And I think that's essencially what I wanted to say...

I think that every build, every character deserves to have a story. Nily Silver-Blood also deserves one. So here's one I wrote a while ago:

One day, in a cold night, a child was born in the great city of Markarth. She was called Nily. Nily Silver-Blood. She was part of one of the most influential and powerful families in the whole Reach, if not, even whole Skyrim! They owned more than half of the city of Stone, the most secure prison in Skyrim, and the most productive silver mine in the entire country! A rich family indeed!

As such, they hosted a feast in Nily's honor when she was about five months old. Only the more powerful people were invited: the Black-Briars, the Snow-Shods, Jarl Baalgruf the Greater, Jarl Ulfric and some more people...(To you, Peasants!)

The dinner was great, some bards here and there, jesters, theatrists... just made the night more amazing. The air was filled with joy, happiness and there would be no one, and I mean, no one who could ruin the party. Or at least, no one who wouldn't happen to have that in mind...Which wasn't the case for the present guests, no... but for the savages of the reach...it could be. The feast was hosted in a big mansion at the Montain side...and it was a nice target for a Forsworn invasion. But the Silver-Bloods already had that in mind, so they posted a handful of guards outside as a precaution.

The night was ending and the Silver-Bloods were proposing a toast in honor of their baby, when they heard a noise coming from outside.     Thonar, Nily's father, sent some guards to check what happened outside and, when they opened the front door, a group of Forsworn bursted trough killing the guards in a matter of seconds. Thonar rose from his chair and ordered even more guards to dispatch the savages. But to no avail. That specific group of guards were disguised forsworn, and surrounded the guests, pointing their swords towards them and silence spread trough the room. This is until Thonar yelled:

            -What's the meaning of this?

    No one answered....

-Speak you savage pigs!- yelled Thonor once again.

From the middle of the Forsworn, one man answered:

-First you...then all of the Reach.

-Who are you to come here and kill my men, interrupting our ceremony?

            - Some call me "The Rebel", others call me their "King", you can call me Madanach.

            - You fool! Can't you see you don't stand a chance against the Silver-Bloods?- said Thonor.

Madanach looks down his shoulder and a smile appears on his face when he looks at the dead guards:

-No sh#t. You took my kingdom and our homes. Our very own lifes were ruined, when you decided to call upon Ulfric's man to eradicate us...when you didn't had the backbone to do it yourself. You took something from us, we take something from you...Let's see here...             ( Madanach goes around the table, towards the baby's cradle)

            Oh! What's this?

-Don't you even dare to touch our daughter!

-Hmph...your daughter you say? She's mine now, Thonar.

-Wait!- screamed Thonar, until Madanach picked up baby Nily on his shoulders.

           -Farewell Thonar, we'll meet again.

-No! Wait, we can work this out!

-Say Bye-Bye little baby...- Madanach grabbed Nily's arm and waved it. He then ran outside, only to disappear into the mist.

Betrid, Thonar's wife and Nily's mother, passed out in the middle of the room, and Thonor didn't even go to break her fall. He was speechless.

5 years the Silver-Bloods searched for Nily. But there was just no sign of her. They raided Forsworn camps, but it seemed like the savages always knew they were coming. Eventually, the searching was called out, and the Silver-Bloods moved on with their lifes.

Nily was being held as a captive at Druadach Redoubt, Madanach's little hideout, and was treated as a slave. Cooking for them, sharpening their swords, and cleaning the floor were Nily's main occupations. This is until she made up a plan. Nily would put a special ingredient called "Deathbell" in their food, which would put the Forsworn in a coma like state and give her enough time to escape.

And so she did. The Forsworn were sleeping as babies by dusk, and Nily escaped, quietly. She was very anxious, because she had never been alowed to go outside the Redoubt. Nily headed towards Darkwater Crossing when she was caught by an Imperial ambush. They arrested her, thinking she could be part of the Stormcloak rebellion, and sent her to be executed in Helgen.

This is it, my build for this month's contest. I was planning on posting a Build Demonstration video, but it seems I need to create a Youtube account first...so I'll post it later.
I had a blast creating this thing, so that others might enjoy playing it. It's has been great to be here on Tamriel Vault and being part of this awesome comunity ;) I've been part of many comunities before, mainly the Souls Comunity. A somewhat "bad" comunity for a great series. Trolls under bridges, people who took other people's work as their own, and all those kind of things were the bad apples who spoiled the bunch. I forgot how it was to hangout with people that love the same things as I do. And that takes me to:
The Tamriel Vault. I first knew it when it was known as The Skyrim Blog. I was searching for Skyrim builds. And it was not so long ago...this place has grown bigger each passing day. I'm happy to contribute to this place and I hope this will be the first of the many moments I'll do it ;)

    The End

    Thanks for reading ;)

Good build, you gave the Silver-blood clan more depth then what Bethesda did.
Nily is a great name. :D
  • August 25, 2015

Thanks ;) I had the idea of making a Silver-Blood right when the contest was revealed, so I had plenty of time to think things through. I chose Nily because it sounds like  "silly" and it's a cool name XD

Nice presentation. I like the overall concept, and have myself enjoyed the upsides of enchanting silver weaponry so it was nice to see you maximize that.

One note of improvement might be to add in the racial ability Battle Cry, either in Greater Powers section or as a side note to the Dismay shout.

    Otherwise, kudos.

  • August 25, 2015

    Thanks for the compliments :)

In concerns to Battle Cry, I had it listed in the greater powers section back in  my notes , but it seems that I forgot to write it when I started to transcribe the build to my pc...

Either way, thanks for pointing me that out, I'll make sure to list it in the Greater Powers section

FYI, nords have 50% resistance to frost.

    Nice build

    It turned out wonderfully :D
