Why make sure not to have armor? Ulfrics bracers can be enchanted (With 0 skill and won't make you grind levels at the enchanter) with x2 backstab damage from the worn shrouded set. Same deal with diadem of the Savant. Best of all they don't disrupt mage armor so why not?

I'm not sure what you read but I don't see anywhere that vampires aren't allowed to use fire magic. Fire spells do the most damage and are the most efficient, both things that are useful in close combat when you want to kill enemies quickly and aren't worried about hitting fast moving targets and slowing people down.
I went to Solstheim first to get Bound Dagger (killing the Ash Guardian is a real pain, bring follower(s)), and then traveled for a bit while progressing through the DB and College questlines.

In terms of roleplaying, vampires should never use fire magic. Have you ever seen a vampire casting fire spells? The mostly use frost and shock spells, as well as drain life and some necromancy spells.
As for the build, it is really good Ponty, really awesome stuff in it! +1

That's not really a strong argument... have you ever seen an Altmer use a two-handed melee weapon? A Redguard using a bound weapon? A vampire wearing heavy armor?
Fire magic is nothing more than a tool, just as frost and shock magic are - similar to how no Altmer use two-handed melee weapons but I don't see people whining around on Altmer builds using twohanders. You've got no chance of blowing yourself up so don't pull that 'vampires weak to fire' garbage on me.

I am not saying that's it's wrong to use fire magic as a vampire, i'm just saying it does not fit the vampire aspect. If you want to use fire spells as a vamp, go ahead, i just dont like to do that.

There are two Ash Spawns in the ground a little behind the Sun Stone near a fallen tree. I lured the guardian there and the spawns made quick work of him

When I played through dragonborn, the quest glitched so it never started, there was no ash guardian but Talvas just ran up to me thanking me for dealing with it, and gave me the reward an anyway.

Since you think Vampires don't like fire in terms of role-playing, choose not to go vampire. This isn't a vampire build anyway, he even states that some choose to go vamp to enhance stealth and illusion, so you could choose not to go that path if you play it.
